00:00Hello. It's pretty mild out there at the moment. It doesn't really feel much like mid-December
00:05and there's also going to be some sunny breaks for many of us too. Not across the far north
00:10of Scotland though. Here we do have a front lingering. It's already brought quite a bit
00:14of rain and it's going to continue to do so as we go through the rest of today. Otherwise
00:18a quieter story for many of us but we do have a system pushing in from the Atlantic as we
00:24go through tomorrow. So we are going to see the cloud building, the winds picking up and
00:28some rain arriving too. Initially across the north and west, rain eventually sweeping its
00:33way to southeastern parts as we go through tomorrow evening and overnight into Wednesday.
00:38Back to the here and now though and like I said some heavy rain across parts of northern
00:41Scotland. Some places have already seen 100mm or so and as we go through the rest of today
00:46some places could see a further 30-40mm. So some further disruption is quite likely, especially
00:53on the roads but even a bit of flooding elsewhere. Across the Northern Isles it's just a bit
00:56of showery rain and there could be some glimmers of sunshine around. Elsewhere across much
01:01of the country, yes some breaks in the clouds, some sunshine breaking through at times. A
01:06few spots of rain here and there but for many it is going to be largely dry. And temperatures
01:11are well above average for the time of year. Many places getting into double figures, perhaps
01:16low teens in a few spots. But worth bearing in mind there are some strong winds towards
01:20some north-northwestern parts of the UK. As we go through later on this evening, staying
01:26pretty wet across parts of northern Scotland and the rain does break up a little bit overnight
01:30but it stays fairly wet here for a time. Elsewhere a lot of dry weather around, a few spots of
01:36rain, some clearer skies towards the east. But as we go through the early hours of tomorrow
01:40morning we will start to see the winds strengthening and so that should clear any fog that does
01:45develop away quite quickly. And we're likely then to see some low cloud pushing in, particularly
01:51across some southern counties. So we could see some hill fog developing, particularly
01:54over places like the Chilterns, the Cotswolds, other high ground towards southern areas as
01:59well. Some rain then pushing into parts of western Scotland by the time we wake up on
02:03Tuesday morning. But because of the cloud coming in, the generally mild air that we
02:07have across us and those winds picking up, it's not going to be a particularly chilly
02:11night. In fact it's going to be a pretty mild start to the day tomorrow. As we go through
02:15the day itself then, a different day today really. More cloud, the cloud building further
02:20as we go through the day and like I say those winds will be picking up as well, particularly
02:24towards western parts, northern parts and anywhere in exposed coastal areas. That's
02:29where we're going to see the strongest winds and quite a bit of wet weather feeding in,
02:32particularly across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and eventually arriving into western
02:36parts of England and Wales. All the time central eastern parts of England likely to cling on
02:41to the drier weather, perhaps a bit cloudier than today, but still perhaps some breaks
02:46in the cloud quite likely. Temperatures again still above average for the time of year,
02:51widely into those low double figures and so it is going to be pretty mild, albeit those
02:56winds strengthening like I said. Later on tomorrow we are going to see that rain spreading
03:01its way further eastwards, so although it will be mostly dry through large chunks of
03:05the day across the southeast, eventually we will see some wet weather arriving here and
03:09elsewhere it is looking pretty windy at times. Some gales possible around exposed areas and
03:15it is also going to be pretty wet at times as well. Looking further ahead and there is
03:20some more wet and windy weather to come as we go through this week. We could have some
03:24further warnings issues, so do stay up to date with those and after a pretty mild start
03:29to the week, by the latter part of the week we are going to see our temperatures dropping
03:33off to closer to average for the time of year. We will of course be keeping you up to date
03:37and in fact if you head to our YouTube channel you will be able to find our week ahead forecast
03:42with Anna later on this afternoon. Bye bye.
