00:00Hello there welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Bitterly cold
00:04through the rest of this week, some sunshine on offer but also snow and ice
00:09and warnings have been issued through Wednesday night and into Thursday. An
00:13ice warning where we see showers across Northern Ireland, a snow and ice warning
00:16from Northern Scotland towards North Yorkshire and later on through the early
00:20hours as this rain just nudges towards southern counties we'll see a snow and
00:24ice warning particularly over the higher ground where we could see some
00:27accumulations as we head into Thursday. Elsewhere some dry weather, some
00:32sunshine but it will be a bitterly cold night and a cold start to the day come
00:38Thursday morning. So inland some mist and fog could form particularly across
00:42central parts of England like last night and they will be freezing fog stubborn
00:48as we head into the morning time. Elsewhere these snow showers continue
00:52across northern and eastern facing coasts and this rain arrives across
00:56southern counties and it could turn to snow especially over the higher ground
01:01such as Exmoor, Bodminmoor as well as Dartmoor and the Blackdown Hills. So a
01:06drizzly start to the day here and rather wintry could be quite slippery
01:09particularly at any elevation. A similar situation across Scotland, watch out for
01:14ice where you see those wintry showers inland, some clearer air but it's a
01:19bitterly cold morning. Northern Ireland seeing mostly dry conditions, one or two
01:23residual showers here, some just streaming down the Irish Sea. Inland
01:27though it will be dry, watch out for those freezing fog patches and a mix of
01:31rain, rain and snow across more southern areas particularly down towards the
01:35southwest where over the higher ground there could be some tricky driving
01:39conditions first thing. So through Thursday morning we watch as any fog
01:44lifts and some brighter skies across more western areas, more cloud further
01:49east and again these showers continue especially along coastlines. It's going
01:54to be a cold day wherever you are and we hang on to more clouds and some showery
01:58bits and pieces across more southern areas. Again the chance of some snow
02:02mixed in with that the air is that cold and a stronger wind down here feeling
02:06much colder than the last few days where temperatures have been slightly higher
02:10than the rest of the country. Temperatures then through Thursday
02:13coming in around 2-3 degrees Celsius but across the hills and the mountains
02:18struggling to get above freezing so the ice will linger on through the day and
02:23then temperatures plummet yet again through Thursday night. A snow and ice
02:28warning extends from northern Scotland, eastern Scotland, eastern counties of
02:31England down towards more southern areas and again the chance of some showers
02:36filtering down towards these parts and there will be a wintry mix. Inland again
02:40we'll see some snow and accumulations will slowly rise here. Temperatures
02:46sub-zero wherever you are. It's a bitter night, a severe frost and also icy in
02:51places as we head into Friday morning. So through Friday we remain under cold air.
02:58Through the day we could see more showers across the western side of the
03:02country again with some sleet and snow and snow inland but they'll be scattered
03:07and then come Saturday a hint of something coming in from the west. It
03:12will be slow but we could see an increase in cloud through the weekend.
03:16The chance of some rain and even some snow mixed in there. Obviously we'll keep
03:20you posted here on all our social media channels and check out our 10-day trend
03:24on YouTube. See you later.
