00:00Hello there welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Two different
00:04air masses will affect the country over the next few days. Firstly we have milder
00:09air extending from the southwest. This weather front though delineates the
00:14milder air towards the south and the colder air from the Arctic which will
00:17dig in through Thursday and into Friday. So turning a lot colder across most
00:22parts of the country and even some wintry showers towards the northeast
00:26before an ingress of milder air slowly pushes in as we head through the
00:30weekend but it will be a fairly slow process. Now let's backtrack to
00:36Tuesday evening. Some clearer skies across England and Wales. One or two
00:39showers just clipping the far southeast of England and under these clearer skies
00:43there's always a chance of some patchy frost and fog. Notice the cloud is
00:47thickening from the northwest and across the northwest we'll see some
00:52persistent rain. The winds pick up some strength and some patchy rain extends
00:56down towards the southern uplands covering much of the central belt.
00:59Northern Ireland seeing some patchy rain and drizzle through the first part of
01:02Wednesday morning as well as northern England. So the winds will pick up to
01:06gale force along the far north of Scotland and as the wind hops over the
01:10highlands it will turn rather gusty. Patchy rain across much of Scotland down
01:14towards Pennine districts northwest England. Northern Ireland seeing some
01:18spits and spots in the wind as well but anywhere from South Yorkshire
01:21southwards it's a mostly dry start to the day. That will be the case for Wales
01:26as well. There will be some sort of thinning of the cloud from time to time
01:30allowing for some hazy sunshine but a chilly start to the day across central
01:34and southern parts of England and Wales. Elsewhere yes that rain just comes and
01:38goes. It's never really going to amount to very much away from the northwest
01:41highlands where you'll see rainfall totals rise through the morning into the
01:45afternoon and through the day we'll find the rain tending to ease across southern
01:49counties of Scotland, northern England and even northern Ireland dries up for
01:53a time. Now across west Wales you could see a little bit of patchy rain to end
01:57the day. Elsewhere temperatures coming in around 12 or 13 14 for Scotland 11 10
02:03towards the southeast of England where it will remain dry. Now through Wednesday
02:08evening and overnight this weather front here continues to bring with it strong
02:13winds and outbreaks of rain and again you can see some heavier pulses across
02:17the far north of Scotland. Patchy rain and drizzle comes and goes across
02:20northern Ireland and Wales, northwest England as well. But it's this weather
02:24front which will slowly sink down towards the central belt of Scotland,
02:28southern Scotland and eventually northern England through the early hours
02:31of Thursday morning. To the south temperatures holding around six to nine
02:34degrees Celsius but much colder in the colder air to the north of this weather
02:38front come Thursday morning with some blustery showers which will turn
02:41wintry through the day and a biting wind as well. So through Thursday morning we
02:46watch as this weather front sinks down towards northern counties of England.
02:49Again we'll see some wet weather across the Isle of Man the far southwest of
02:53Scotland although it will dry up later and northern Ireland. Patchy rain then
02:57pushes towards the north midlands but towards the north that wind will be
03:02bitter and again some heavy showers associated with it. To the south
03:06remaining mild and rather cloudy perhaps some holes in the cloud
03:10allowing for a little bit of sunshine. Your outlook then through Friday
03:13notice these temperatures a good four five degrees lower than what we've seen.
03:18It's turning a lot colder with some hard frosts and some wintry showers
03:21towards the northeast. Bye.
