5th June - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern
Transcript
00:00Hi there, a change in the weather is on the way for later this week, but for the time
00:04being we've got the same weather that we've had for the last few days, last few weeks
00:09in fact with high pressure situated to the north of the UK and easterly airflow and as
00:14a result a lot of settled weather and for many a sunny day, but not for all because
00:18of that easterly airflow we've got an area of cloud that has moved in through the night
00:23and it's now slowly burning back to the coast, but I think areas of cloud will remain especially
00:29for the east midlands into east Anglia, east coast of England, eastern Scotland and of
00:34course where we've got that cloud cover it will hold back the temperatures with 11-14
00:39Celsius most likely around the east coast and around 40 miles inland, but further west
00:45where we've got plenty of sunshine 22, 23, perhaps even 24 Celsius the warmest spot
00:51towards the south west. Then into the evening we'll see the cloud tend to drift back further
00:57west again and that cloud will become more extensive I think overnight compared with
01:03previous nights, perhaps reaching as far as parts of Wales, Devon, central Scotland for
01:08example, very little for Northern Ireland, western Scotland and here there'll be a few
01:13mist patches forming under clear skies and a bit of a chill in the air first thing. Otherwise
01:19I think high single figures, low double figures generally as we begin things. A few patches
01:24of drizzle into the east midlands, the east of England where the cloud is thickest and
01:30that cloud takes a bit longer to push back eastwards during Tuesday and it will remain
01:35prevalent across the midlands, east Anglia, the east of England into parts of central
01:40and northern Scotland as well. Of course where we've got that cloud again 11-14 Celsius with
01:46that cool breeze most notable around the south east corner, but where we've got the sunshine
01:51again a warm day to come, 22 perhaps 23 Celsius. Then into Tuesday evening again the cloud
02:00drifts further west again, very little changes over the next few days with our weather. One
02:06trend I think as we go through the mid to latter part of the week is that the winds
02:11will change direction, they'll start to come up more from the south and initially that'll
02:16bring quite a strong breeze towards the south west but also higher temperatures and then
02:21by the weekend increased humidity and that change in wind direction will bring a greater
02:26chance of shower clouds bubbling up. Bye bye.
