00:00Hello there. This weekend has certainly been one of mixed fortunes across the UK. Western
00:05Scotland in particular has been very wet with persistent heavy rainfall throughout all of
00:10Saturday and Sunday has led to some locations seeing around 150 millimetres of rain building
00:17up in 36 hours. That's in contrast to some eastern areas of Scotland where it has stayed
00:21relatively dry thanks to the shelter of the mountains and across the rest of the UK as
00:26well. Some dry conditions, even some sunny spells through central eastern areas of England
00:30on Sunday will hold on to some of those clearer spells into the evening and overnight period
00:34as well. Southern central areas should stay largely dry, but the rain will be moving its
00:39way into Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, northwest England and western areas of Wales.
00:44Far northwest of Scotland, though, where we have seen that repeated and persistent rainfall
00:48will be turning drier with some clearer spells into the overnight period. And when you do
00:52have those slightly clearer intervals, temperatures could just drop down into single figures,
00:56seven, eight degrees Celsius. But underneath the most persistent cloud through the central
01:00slides here, it is going to be a mild night. Temperatures holding up in double digit figures
01:05between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius. We'll still have those outbreaks of rain to contend with
01:10then as we start off the new working week, particularly for western areas. The rain will
01:14be slightly lighter and patchier towards the east, perhaps even some early brightness for
01:19southeastern areas of England, though the cloud will be thickening here later on in
01:22the day. Still quite a blustery, windy day for England and Wales, but the winds will
01:26be easing out for Northern Ireland, central areas of Scotland as the sun begins to poke
01:30its way through the cloud into the afternoon, though for the northwest of Scotland, we've
01:33got another band of rain arriving later on. We'll see those northwesterly winds in the
01:38northwest, though, starting to feed in some slightly fresher conditions. So temperatures
01:41down here compared to the weekend, not seeing much higher than nine degrees Celsius, but
01:47elsewhere underneath the cloud and the rain, a relatively mild day. Temperatures a touch
01:51above average for the time of year between 11 and 13 degrees Celsius. As we head into
01:57Tuesday, our attention turns to the next set of fronts that are going to start pushing
02:01their way in from the southwest, looking like Wales and England will bear the brunt of this
02:06and see most of the rainfall. That rain will start arriving as we head throughout Monday
02:10evening and overnight, along with quite extensive areas of low cloud pushing its way in could
02:15produce some fog even to lower levels. So quite a murky, dreary and damp night to come
02:21here for Scotland. Northern Ireland, there will be a few showers, but some clearer spells
02:25developing and underneath those clear skies, it will be a noticeably cooler and chillier
02:29night compared to some recent ones down to three or five degrees Celsius. But again,
02:34further towards the south and east where you're underneath the cloud and the rain, a relatively
02:38milder one loads of around 11 degrees Celsius. Quite a wet start to Tuesday across a good
02:45portion of England and Wales. Tricky travelling conditions. First thing on the rush hour to
02:49do take care there will be some spray on roads. Most certainly the rain will slowly clear
02:54its way off as we head throughout the day and behind that you'll see the sunnier, brighter
02:58skies developing in from the northwest. With a scattering of showers, though, they could
03:02be falling as snow and sleet over the higher ground of Scotland and will be accompanied
03:07by some relatively blustery winds, maybe some localised coastal gales across the north of
03:11Scotland as well. And with that northwesterly feed of winds, we'll start to see those fresher
03:16conditions arriving across more areas of the UK. So a lot of us starting to see that notice
03:21change in the air. So return to some slightly cooler conditions, seven, eight, nine degrees
03:26Celsius as the highs for a lot of us in the far southeast still just about reaching double
03:32digit figures, maybe 12, 13 degrees Celsius. It looks like that northwesterly feed of air
03:39is going to continue as we head throughout the second half of the week. Those ice bars
03:42tightening at times once again, so some gales and stronger winds around at times further
03:47frontal systems trying to push their way into the northwest, perhaps the southeast staying
03:51the driest overall. But we'll keep you up to date on all of the comings of the next
03:56week across the YouTube channel. So make sure you're subscribed and we'll see you again
04:00here soon. Bye bye.
