00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. What a difference a week
00:04makes. Last Sunday many of us were experiencing what felt like a late dose of summer. Temperatures
00:10away from Scotland rose widely above 20 degrees Celsius, feeling very warm for the time of
00:16year. But fast forward seven days and there's a bit more of an autumnal chill in the air.
00:21Some locations seeing their temperatures drop by over 10 degrees Celsius from what we had
00:25last weekend. You'll see that there is still a fair amount of sunshine around and that
00:30is thanks to an area of high pressure that is situated across the UK, keeping things
00:33fine and settled for most. Just notice that there's features moving across the very top
00:37of that high pressure system. So some showering outbreaks of rain for northern Scotland today.
00:42Might see some of those showers pushing slightly further southwards into other coastal districts,
00:46but much of Northern Ireland, England and Wales staying largely dry with a decent amount
00:50of sunshine. Those temperatures though struggling, most of us not seeing higher than nine to
00:5512 degrees Celsius, so rather cold still if you are stepping outside. But the fine conditions
01:01will continue into this evening and overnight. The showers across northern Scotland will
01:05ease off a touch, mainly persisting across coastal districts. Could see some isolated
01:09mist and fog patches forming overnight and temperatures again will be taking a bit of
01:14a tumble, mid to low single figures in a lot of our towns and cities. But do expect some
01:20frost to develop once again, particularly for central southern areas of Scotland and
01:24down into northern England. As we head into the start of Monday, then a bit of a frosty
01:29chilly start, but a fine day for many of us. Once again, there will be a touch more cloud
01:34around on Monday compared to the weekend, so the sky is a bit milkier. The sunshine
01:38hazier in places, but still some brightness to enjoy if you are stepping outside. Showers
01:44pushing into the far southeast of England still some across northern Scotland, where
01:47it will be a breezier day and the winds also strengthening across southwest England as
01:50well. Temperatures might be up by a degree or so in places. Most of us now around 11
01:55to 13 degrees Celsius mark, but may still need an extra layer on if you are stepping
02:00outside. Pretty decent end to the day for many of us as well, staying largely dry, but
02:07the winds will be increasingly strengthening across southwest England and Wales as this
02:11area of rain begins to move its way in. And this is a signal for what's coming towards
02:16the latter part of this week. It's associated with an area of low pressure that is going
02:20to push its way northwards as we head throughout the week, combined with other features in
02:24the North Atlantic and provide a much more unsettled second half of the week. Some very
02:29heavy rain in places, strong winds as well. And we have already issued a yellow rain warning
02:35for parts of eastern Scotland through Thursday and Friday. Potential for some flooding in
02:41places and very large waves as well, associated with those strong southeasterly winds pushing
02:46in that rain. So it certainly is worth keeping up to date with the forecast as we head throughout
02:51the rest of the week. You can find our latest warnings on the Met Office website and we'll
02:55also have a regular updates across our social media channels. So do make sure following
02:59us on all of those there. We'll be back with you again very shortly. Bye bye.
