00:00Hello. Whilst we're likely to see some warmer temperatures over the weekend, there's also
00:04quite a lot of rain around, particularly for parts of Scotland. This is all due to a large
00:09area of low pressure out to the west of the UK, bringing a trailing frontal system across
00:13much of Scotland through Saturday and Sunday. But further south, a high pressure building,
00:19bringing a southerly airflow and some warmer temperatures, particularly to the southern
00:22half of the UK through Saturday and Sunday. Back to the here and now though, through Thursday
00:27evening, plenty of rain around, particularly for Scotland, northern England, parts of Wales
00:32and Northern Ireland as well, this rain turning particularly heavy over any high ground. Generally
00:37quite a cloudy picture elsewhere, although some clear spells developing, particularly
00:40across the south of the UK. And this could lead to the odd patch of mist and fog into
00:44Friday morning. Quite a mild night, particularly compared to what we saw last night. Many places
00:49holding up into the double figures, but perhaps just a little cooler under any clearer spells
00:53across southern parts through Friday morning. So generally, it'll be a very cloudy start
00:59to the day on Friday. That rain continues to spread its way eastwards through the day
01:03on Friday, but further south, plenty of sunshine developing as we head into the afternoon.
01:08And for Scotland as well, particularly eastern Scotland, there'll be plenty of sunshine as
01:12we head through Friday afternoon before the cloud starts to build and that rain pushes
01:16up from the southwest later on Friday. Feeling warm in that sunshine, particularly across
01:21southern parts of England and Wales through Friday afternoon, we could see highs of 20
01:25to 22 degrees, but further north where that rain persists and particularly for northern
01:29parts of Scotland, just feeling a little cooler and a little closer to average for the time
01:33of year. As we go through Friday evening, that band of rain continues to spread its
01:39way eastwards and northwards through Friday evening and into Saturday morning, bringing
01:43some very heavy and persistent rain to parts of southern and central Scotland. Some areas
01:48could see 70 to 75 millimetres of rain with some high ground perhaps seeing up to 150
01:53millimetres, so some local impacts likely here. Further south, though, plenty of clear
01:58skies overnight, perhaps some isolated mist and fog and some low cloud affecting those
02:02western coasts into Saturday morning. Through the day on Saturday, that band of rain persists
02:08across much of central and southern Scotland as we go through into Saturday afternoon.
02:13Further south, though, away from that frontal band of another very pleasant day, plenty
02:17of sunshine as we head into the afternoon and with some light winds, it will be feeling
02:21very warm in that sunshine too. Away from that frontal band as well, though, in the
02:25very far north of Scotland, perhaps a bit of a brighter day, although a few scattered
02:28showers here. As I said, feeling very warm in that sunshine through Saturday afternoon,
02:34we could see those highs reaching 23, 24 degrees, but under that cloud and rain across that
02:39central slice of Scotland, not feeling much above 12 or 13 degrees here, so definitely
02:43a different feel compared to southeast England. As we head through Sunday, those warm conditions
02:49across the south of the UK persist. We could see highs of 25, 26 degrees and turning a
02:55little bit more settled further north before that band of rain sinks its way southwards
02:59through the day into Monday and into the start of next week, bringing something a little
03:03bit fresher as we head towards next weekend. But you can find out more about that on our
03:08website and don't forget to follow us on social media. Bye bye.
