00:00Hello there. Most of us have seen a fine bank holiday weekend so far but there are changes
00:05afoot as we head into Monday. It's all due to a swirl of cloud that's been pushing its
00:10way into Ireland and is centred around this low pressure centre. The weather fronts are
00:16gradually progressing their way eastwards and will continue to do so as we head into
00:20Monday. We've already seen some outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland through Sunday
00:24afternoon and that will continue into western areas of Scotland where it could be heavy
00:28for a time. It will also be windy tonight, particularly with some gales around the eastern
00:33coast of Scotland. For England and Wales the rain will be that bit patchier but it will
00:37certainly turn into a damp night to come and a fairly cloudy one. Underneath all that cloud
00:42temperatures won't drop off too far at all, holding up around 9-10 degrees Celsius. But
00:47some clearer intervals developing for Northern Ireland, North West Scotland that will just
00:51allow those temperatures to drop down more into mid or low single figures. So some early
00:56brightness possible in the west here but elsewhere it will be a cloudy start to Easter Monday.
01:02The rain gradually clearing its way off but it will linger in the south east of England
01:05and also across Shetland up until the afternoon. Behind that there will be some sunny spells
01:10but also quite frequent showers across much of the UK. They'll merge into longer spells
01:15of rain at times, particularly across Scotland and in some of those heavier showers we do
01:19have the risk of thunder and hail as well. Feeling that bit cooler compared to Sunday
01:24where temperatures are notched down but still around average for the time of year. Highs
01:28between 10-15 degrees Celsius across parts of the south east. Still quite blustery throughout
01:35the afternoon and into the evening as well, just taking the edge off things and we'll
01:38see a scattering of showers continuing throughout the night as well. It could turn wintry over
01:43the higher grounds of Scotland. Into the start of Tuesday those showers will gradually ease
01:49their way off and we'll see more in the way of clear intervals developing so that will
01:53allow a cooler night to come on Tuesday morning. So temperatures here more around 4-6 degrees
02:00Celsius across the board but again still just that bit chillier across the very far northwest.
02:06Some showers particularly in the west then as we start off Tuesday morning. Generally
02:10eastern areas holding onto the drier and brighter skies first thing. Into the afternoon though
02:15it's this rain that we're going to start watching out for as it pushes its way into South England,
02:19Wales and then Northern Ireland for the afternoon as well. Putting quite a dampener on the end
02:24of the day here. Just feeling that bit more pleasant across northern and eastern areas
02:29where we hold onto the sunshine. Temperatures around 11-13 degrees Celsius. Still the potential
02:35for 13-14 degrees in the southwest but once all that cloud and rain arrives it won't feel
02:40particularly great. Whilst it certainly will bring a lot of wet weather this area of low
02:46pressure is also going to bring some particularly strong winds. It starts its life out in the
02:51Atlantic but it's going to get picked up by a quite powerful jet stream. That ribbon of
02:57fast flowing air high in the atmosphere which is quite strong at the moment. That's going
03:02to help power this low pressure centre towards the UK and help develop it more and by the
03:07time it reaches us it's really quite a deep area of low pressure with the potential for
03:11some squeeze in those isobars bringing particularly strong winds to western areas of the UK. So
03:17we do have some yellow weather warnings in force for Tuesday night. That occurs across
03:23East Irish Sea coastal areas and other inland areas of Wales and southwest England. Gust
03:29of 60mph plus possible where we are in exposure and that could bring some travel disruption
03:35to ferries but also roads and rails as well. Particularly around the coast as well we could
03:41see some spray from large waves that develop as well. Into Wednesday daytime we have a
03:47second yellow warning in force. This now more focused for a second swathe of winds that
03:51will come through on southwest England and southwest Wales. But again the continued risk
03:57of some disruption as a result of those strong winds. There is still some uncertainty in
04:02regards to the exact track of this low pressure system so exactly where we see the most disruptive
04:07winds is still up for slight amendments and we will keep our weather warnings up to date
04:12as we head over the next few days. You'll find all the latest information on our website
04:17as well as on all of our social media channels. If you're on YouTube then make sure to subscribe
04:22as well and we'll be back with you again very shortly. Bye bye.
