00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. The weekend brought
00:05us a fairly mixed bag of weather. Some of us had freezing fog patches persisting, particularly
00:10across southeastern locations. As we moved slightly further to the west, there were some
00:15actually decent sunny intervals, a lovely shot here in Hampshire. But as we moved even
00:20further to the north and west, skies across Northern Ireland and Scotland were fairly
00:23grey and cloudy throughout much of Sunday. And the weather you saw on Sunday will give
00:28you a reasonable steer as what to expect as we move into Monday. So overnight, there
00:33will be further outbreaks of patchy rain and drizzle for South West Scotland, the Isle
00:37of Man and other coastal areas of the Irish Sea. Further to the south and east, we will
00:42hold on to some clearer intervals to begin with, but that's going to allow the freezing
00:46fog patches to return once again from the Humber down into the Midlands and then into
00:51Surrey and the Sussexes. This could be dense in places, visibility around 50 metres as
00:56we start off Monday morning. So do just take care when you're heading out first thing
01:00for the new working week. Temperatures in the southeast are going to be dropping off
01:04once again, a sharp frost down to minus four, minus five Celsius in some villages and towns.
01:11For Wales, Northern England and eastern Scotland, the cloud will come and go a bit. So there
01:15is the chance of a patchy frost developing, but most towns and cities will hold up around
01:20low single figures. It's more Northern Ireland, North West Scotland, where we'll see the mildest
01:25conditions. So temperatures here are only dropping down to around seven or eight degrees
01:29Celsius. Into tomorrow, the patchy rain that we've seen overnight will generally continue
01:34in relatively similar locations and staying fairly damp here. More extensive low cloud
01:39then pushing its way into the Western Isles and the Northern Isles. This was further spells
01:43of rain. And then the southeastern areas could just see a little more cloud pushing in across
01:49Kent and East Anglia. It will be this central slice from, again, Yorkshire down into the
01:54Midlands and the Hampshire. Once those freezing fog patches have eventually cleared their
01:57way off into the afternoon, where we'll see some of those sunnier spells developing. Temperatures
02:05are going to be, again, a bit of a contrast. So in the north and west where we hold onto
02:09the cloud, highs ten degrees or so, but further in the south will be only around four degrees
02:15Celsius. And where some of that freezing fog persists, we could only be around zero or
02:20one degrees Celsius. For the evening period, the cloud in the north and west will generally
02:26stay again in a relatively similar position. The main change will be just in the southeast.
02:30That cloud that we've seen pushing in during the day will begin to move its way further
02:34inland. So the frost risk here across southeastern areas will be slightly reduced. Towns may
02:41be holding up into low single figures. It will more be this, again, the central slice
02:46through the Humber, down into areas from Birmingham and into southwest England, where temperatures
02:51will drop off the most. And again, we could see a sharp frost down to minus eight degrees
02:55Celsius in some prone rural spots. Under the extensive cloud that we've seen push its way
03:00into the northwest again, temperatures will be holding up quite markedly, perhaps staying
03:06around nine degrees Celsius. For Tuesday itself then, now that we've got that cloud in the
03:12southeast, it will be a fairly gray day compared to recent days here. Again, it's that slight
03:18slice here through central areas where we'll see the best of the sunnier intervals. But
03:22we could also see some down eastern Scotland and other eastern areas of England where the
03:26cloud just breaks up a bit more to the lee of higher ground. The breeze strengthening
03:30again across the northwest where we see further spells of rain and temperatures once again.
03:36Whilst we've got the cloud in the southeast, we're still holding on to some relatively
03:40cold air, so it's going to feel relatively cold once again, around three degrees Celsius
03:45and perhaps feeling even colder now that we've got the cloud in place. Further to the north
03:50and west, once again, we will be reaching double digit figures, but where the cloud
03:55again is in place, it won't necessarily feel like the most pleasant of days. As we move
04:00throughout the rest of the week, the repeating pattern that we have seen will eventually
04:05ease up a bit and we'll have a reversal of fortunes. The frontal system will eventually
04:09win out over high pressure and push its way into southern areas of England. And with that,
04:14the milder air will eventually reach southern England as well. So temperatures just coming
04:18up here slightly behind the cold fronts, though the winds start coming in from a more northerly
04:23direction and that colder air begins to feed in as well. It's not going to be as cold as
04:28we have seen of late, but temperatures across Northern Ireland and Scotland will generally
04:33return to around average for the time of year compared to the pretty mild conditions we
04:37have seen. Do keep up to date with the full forecast by following us on all of our social
04:43media channels. And of course, we will see you again here soon. Bye bye.
