00:00Hello there. It's been a rather mixed start to the weekend across the UK. We've seen some
00:05fog patches across central southern areas of England and Wales, clearing off with outbreaks
00:08of rain pushing into the southwest. Another band of rain across Northern Ireland into
00:13southern Scotland and northern England that's been quite persistent and far across coastal
00:17areas of the Moray Firth. Some sunnier skies for western Scotland here though. Generally
00:23away from northern Scotland, the winds are relatively light throughout today, but that
00:26is going to mean that these areas of rain are going to be slow moving throughout the
00:30day, so going to remain quite damp for Northern Ireland into the Scottish borders. The cloud
00:36building a bit more across central Wales into the home counties and the Midlands as well,
00:40but always the best of the sunshine for western areas of Scotland. And it's here where we'll
00:44see temperatures climb the most, highs of possibly 17, 18 degrees Celsius, so feeling
00:50quite warm. If you're stuck underneath more of this persistent cloud though, it's going
00:55to be feeling rather cold and struggling even to get into double digits in places.
01:00As we head into Saturday evening, this band of rain in the north will slowly fizzle its
01:05way out, but could push into northeastern areas of Scotland throughout the night. Further
01:09outbreaks of rain moving their way in across England and Wales as well, and generally the
01:14cloud building across all areas of the UK. Underneath that blanket though, temperatures
01:18won't drop too far and it should stay frost free for all of us. Just the potential in
01:22some sheltered rural spots where you do get the clearer break that we get down into low
01:26single figures. Into the start of Sunday morning, we are going to see the wind strengthening
01:31quite a bit across northern areas of Scotland, with the risk of some gales here. These winds
01:36are coming directly down from the north and we're going to continue to see that northerly
01:40feed of air push its way in across all areas of the UK as we head into Sunday and Monday,
01:45bringing in this much cooler air directly down from the Arctic. So it is going to be
01:52turning much colder as we move throughout Sunday, still rather cloudy as we start off.
01:57The potential for some outbreaks of rain across the south east and they could be heavy at
02:01times, so do just watch out if you are running the London Marathon. Showers bubbling up across
02:06the rest of Northern Ireland, Wales and England, even into southern areas of Scotland as well.
02:12The rain that we see pushing into northeastern areas of Scotland will start to turn wintry
02:16over the higher ground as this colder air really begins to dig in and temperatures across
02:21Scotland will be noticeably down on Sunday compared to Saturday. When you, though, add
02:27on the strength of that particularly strong wind around coastal areas, it's going to be
02:31feeling even colder and really quite bitter and raw. Maybe feels like temperatures around
02:36zero degrees Celsius. Elsewhere, if you do get one of those sunnier spells, temperatures
02:41around average for the time of year, but underneath some of the more persistent cloud in the south
02:45east. Again, it's not going to be a particularly pleasant day into Sunday evening.
02:51These outbreaks of rain in the south east will gradually clear their way off, but will
02:55take a little bit of time. Again, the showers slowly begin to ease down elsewhere, but continuing
03:01across the far north of Scotland as we end the day on Sunday, some of those showers will
03:05probably turn wintry with some sleet and snow even to lower levels here. So this cold air
03:11really digging its way in as we start off the new working week. And there's also the
03:15chance of some quite chilly nights to come as well. You can keep up to date with the
03:20full forecast for the forthcoming week by following us here on the Met Office YouTube
03:24channel and we'll be giving you updates on all of our social media platforms as well.
03:28Otherwise, enjoy your weekend. Bye bye.
