00:00Hello there, and welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:03It's an unsettled picture through this weekend, with rain, wintry showers and strong winds in the mixture for many.
00:10If we look at the latest radar sequence, we can see this rain progressing southwards across Scotland, Northern Ireland and now into northern areas of England.
00:18These outbreaks of rain will continue to push southwards through the day, with the far south-east of England holding on to the best of any hazy sunshine.
00:27Further north, brighter spells do follow behind the rain, but so too do blustery, wintry showers,
00:33and it will be windy for many, with coastal gales possible for areas north of Wales.
00:39And this will have an effect on temperatures. When you add in that windchill effect, it will feel much chillier for everyone, and particularly cold and brisk further north.
00:48As we move into Saturday evening, the persistent snow showers will continue across north and western areas of Scotland, so there is a yellow snow warning in force.
00:58Combined with the strong winds, this does lead to the risk of blizzard conditions for the highest routes of the Highlands.
01:05The outbreaks of rain further south will also continue with some heavier bursts in there,
01:09the cloud though helping to keep temperatures up here, whilst a more widespread ground frost for areas further north.
01:16Into the start of Sunday, and the rain will slowly clear southern areas, still some heavier bursts in there,
01:23some sunnier spells following behind, but further outbreaks of rain still possible for south-west England and Wales.
01:30The snow showers continuing for north and western areas of Scotland, with that snow warning in force until 3 o'clock.
01:37Remaining mild in the south, chillier further north, but remember to add on that wind, as that will once again be persistent, and it will feel much colder.
