00:00Hello again and welcome to your national weather forecast from the Met Office. It's a cold
00:05one out there at the moment and our temperatures will soon be plummeting again as we head through
00:09this evening. Just to give you a quick snapshot of our weather warnings in place, we've got
00:14snow and ice warnings across the country and these are where we've seen the showers feeding
00:18in through Thursday. We'll continue to see those feeding into our western, northern and
00:23eastern coasts overnight. Snow showers across Scotland could give further accumulations
00:29of 2-5cm in places. Elsewhere, where we've got clear skies, our temperatures are plummeting
00:35away through the course of tonight, minus 8 or minus 9 out in the countryside. So, a
00:40bitterly cold start to your Friday morning. A bit more cloud through some parts of the
00:45Midlands, East Anglia, South East England as a few showers feed their way through but
00:49it will brighten up here I think through the day. For many inland areas then, a lot of
00:53sunshine to enjoy but we do keep the showers feeding in for Scotland. That weather warning
00:57for snow and ice remains in place and we keep these showers feeding in across some
01:02western areas as well. Perhaps getting a little bit further through into the Cheshire Gap
01:06as we go through the day just because of the winds coming round to a north-westerly. Stays
01:11cold though, 2-5 degrees Celsius, feeling colder than that where you've got any exposure
01:16to that northerly breeze. And as the sun sets on Friday, those temperatures plummet again
01:21so the risk of ice once again where we've had those showers through the day. Winds ease
01:26down across some areas so there is also the chance of some mist and fog patches developing,
01:31freezing fog patches with those sub-zero temperatures. And again by Saturday morning, could be looking
01:36at minus 8, minus 9, maybe as low as minus 10 for parts of Scotland where we've got snow
01:41cover on the ground. Another very cold start then, that mist and fog could be very slow
01:48to clear and the reason for the fog is the winds easing down. So, we've still got that
01:52arctic air across the country but with very few isobars it means that the weather is quite
01:57slow moving. So, for some of us that fog could persist throughout the day and where it does
02:01it will be difficult to drive in. Dense patches of freezing fog for some places but just down
02:07the road you might have bright blue skies so there will be some sunshine around as well.
02:12We do keep a feed of showers coming into the western side of England and Wales. We keep
02:16the snow showers for Scotland, that warning staying in force throughout the duration of
02:21the weekend. And our temperatures will struggle once again, just a few degrees above freezing
02:28and it's worth pointing out that these values occur during the early part of the afternoon
02:33but it may only be for a couple of hours that we see temperatures above freezing in some
02:37places before they start to dip away again through the evening. And as we head through
02:43Saturday evening it will once again turn very cold. You can keep up to date with all the
02:47latest on the weather throughout this weekend by going to our social media channels and
02:52I'll see you soon. Bye for now.
