13 November - National weather forecast presented by Luke Miall
Transcript
00:00Hello, the weekend is almost upon us and the weather this weekend is often going to be
00:04quite dry, certainly drier than it's been on Friday. There will be a lot of cloud around
00:09I think through this weekend, the risk of some mist and fog through the mornings as
00:13well, but a lot less windy than what it is currently out there. And that's because this
00:17area of low pressure that we've had through Friday is moving away into the North Sea and
00:21it allows this area of high pressure to build up across the UK, keeping these weather fronts
00:26at bay towards the North West and settling our weather down in time for the weekend.
00:31So if we take a look at the picture through the rest of Friday into the overnight period,
00:35we will have a period of stronger winds and some heavier rain for a time through Northern
00:40England, perhaps into the North Midlands, but that really eases away and then for many
00:44it turns drier and quieter overnight. Clearer skies across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:48means it will be chillier here, temperatures in the countryside getting a bit lower than
00:52this, but it stays mild with more cloud and breeze across the rest of England and Wales.
00:57But for most places it will be dry by the time we get to the morning. So a bit of a
01:01grey gloomy start across the south through the morning. We will see some brightness poking
01:05through during the day. The best of that sunshine I think will be for Scotland, Northern England,
01:09perhaps the east of Northern Ireland, but out towards the west of Northern Ireland we'll
01:13see cloud thickening through the day with some rain and drizzle. Also quite a grey picture
01:17for East Anglia, parts of South East England, Lincolnshire as well. Breeze coming in off
01:21the North Sea, some bits and pieces of rain, so feeling a bit grim I think under the cloud
01:26and drizzly rain here. But elsewhere, not too bad for the middle of November, highs
01:31of 13 or 14 Celsius in the sunshine. As we go through Saturday evening then, it's where
01:37we've got those clearer skies that those temperatures will then dip away overnight. So through the
01:41spine of the country we will see it turn quite chilly, the risk of some mist and fog patches
01:45forming as well. These could be quite dense for parts of Wales, perhaps the Midlands,
01:49Central and Southern England as well, one to keep an eye on. But elsewhere, where we've
01:53got more cloud around, it won't be quite as cold, some bits and pieces of rain affecting
01:57Western Scotland and moving across Northern Ireland. So the start of Remembrance Sunday
02:02will be quite a grey and gloomy picture I think for some places, some mist and muck
02:06to clear through the morning. But it will eventually break up and I think we'll see
02:10some sunshine poking through by the time we get to 11 o'clock and beyond into the afternoon.
02:16Staying cloudier though for Scotland and much of Northern Ireland, some rain pushing
02:20into the Western Isles later on, the breeze picks up here. But elsewhere, with those lighter
02:24winds and a bit of sunshine around, temperatures won't fare too bad come the afternoon. A little
02:29bit down on what they were through Friday and Saturday, but still 12 or 13 is not bad
02:34for the middle of November. As we take our way in towards next week, then
02:39things will remain fairly mixed. We'll see the risk of some rain at times. The best of
02:44any dry weather will remain across southern areas, where we see clear skies turning chilly
02:48at night. But on the whole, temperatures by day will be on the mild side.
02:54Of course, for more information on the weather for the week ahead and indeed as we go through
02:58the rest of the weekend, you can check out the Met Office on all of our social media
03:01channels and I'll see you again very soon. Take care.
