00:00Hello, welcome to the latest from the Met Office. After a relatively dry Tuesday, rain
00:05and cloud will spread in from the south for Tuesday night and into Wednesday. That's because
00:10we've got low pressure in charge at the moment. We've got a number of low pressures swirling
00:14around to the west of the UK and that's pulling this exceptionally mild air from the near
00:20continent up across the UK on a strong southerly breeze. Now, overnight on Tuesday night, that
00:26southerly breeze is going to drag up this area of quite persistent and heavy rain across
00:31western areas of the UK, bringing some heavy downpours, particularly to Northern Ireland
00:36and southwestern Scotland. Between any showers across more eastern areas, it will be a drier
00:43night but relatively cloudy. And for all areas, it's going to be an exceptionally mild night.
00:49Look at these temperatures. They look more like daytime maximum for this time of year.
00:54So, it'll be a mild but quite cloudy and damp start to Wednesday, particularly for more
00:59northern and western areas. We could see the rain turn quite heavy across northwestern
01:04Scotland for a time. But by lunchtime, the drier and brighter weather will become more
01:09widespread. Some decent sunny spells across the UK. There will be some showers too that
01:15could turn heavy and thundery with a risk of hail in there as well, particularly across
01:20Northern Ireland and Scotland. Between any showers, it'll be a warm day. Temperatures
01:27around 17, 18 or 19 degrees across much of England and Wales. Very warm for the time
01:33of year. There will be a windier day than Tuesday. We're expecting a risk of gales across
01:40northwestern areas of Scotland. So, if you're around here, it could be quite a windy day
01:44with potentially some quite large waves. On Wednesday evening, we'll see a lot of clear
01:49and dry weather to start the evening. But overnight, cloud will thicken, particularly
01:53across southern areas of the country and northwestern areas of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland
01:59where there's a risk of heavy downpours overnight. Another mild night across the country with
02:05temperatures widely somewhere between 12 to 16 degrees across the far south. Very mild
02:11for the time of year. Through Thursday, that rain across more southern areas will push
02:17up into parts of northern England and southern Scotland with showers continuing across the
02:21far north of Scotland through the day. The winds will be a little bit lighter through
02:26Thursday. So, by the afternoon, as we start to see some sunshine in any cloud breaks,
02:32it will feel warmer than previous days. Highs of 19 or 20 degrees in the far south, but
02:38elsewhere still around 17 degrees. On Friday, we're looking at the winds potentially picking
02:45up for some areas of the country, but there's a little bit of uncertainty around that. So,
02:49it's worth keeping up to date with the forecast and you can do that by checking out our social
02:53media.
