00:00Hi there, and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. A lot of fine weather
00:04this weekend, particularly on Saturday. Dry at first, some sunshine emerging later. But
00:12by the end of Saturday, further thunderstorms over France will drift north into southern
00:17parts of the UK, and it's the rain or showers from those thunderstorms that will affect
00:22many places on Saturday night and into much of Sunday. Having talked about thunderstorms,
00:26well, there have been a few in the south-east today, and they tend to move north into the
00:32North Sea overnight. Drier for many by the end of the night, a lot of cloud cover remaining
00:36for the Midlands, East Anglia and the south-east. Some battery cloud elsewhere, but clear spells
00:40as well. And to the north and the west, under those clear skies, temperatures dipping into
00:45the single figures. Perhaps as low as 2 to 4 Celsius for rural parts of Scotland. So
00:51a cold start here on Saturday, but a bright start for north-east Scotland. Northern Ireland
00:56seeing some sunny spells, north-west England, west Wales for example. And I think for northern
01:01parts of the UK, it's a day of sunny spells and just the odd shower developing. Towards
01:06the south, thicker cloud here at the start of the day, and then more cloud feeding in
01:11by the afternoon, ahead of some thunderstorms developing over France. You can see the first
01:17signs of a change there, and depending on how quickly the cloud thickens and the next
01:21batch of rain moves in, well that will have a knock-on with the temperatures. If it stays
01:26dry and bright for longer, then low 20s. And feeling pleasant enough in the sunny spells
01:31elsewhere. Certainly a warmer day in the south-east compared to Friday. But those hit and miss
01:38thunderstorms, they're going to set off over France, they're going to travel north. They'll
01:43affect mainly southern parts of the UK at first on Saturday night, and then drift into
01:46central areas, mainly as areas of rain rather than thunderstorms. But there is that risk
01:51of some lively weather, some heavy rainfall in places, whilst other areas will generally
01:58miss out. And for northern England, Scotland and northern Ireland, largely dry overnight.
02:03Just a few spots of rain there for northern and north-west Scotland. Under any clear spells
02:08again, single figures, but for most, we're looking at lows of 12 to 14 Celsius. And then
02:14we'll start off Sunday with that wet weather across much of England and Wales. It's drifting
02:18north, still the risk of some thundery outbreaks in places. And eventually by the afternoon,
02:24the rain or showers tends to ease a little, and so there'll be a better chance of some
02:29drier spells in between. Northern and north-west Scotland seeing some thicker cloud and some
02:34outbreaks of rain here as well, or showers, one or two showers for northern Ireland. But
02:39actually through this central slice, south-east Scotland, north-east England into northern
02:44Ireland, sunny spells, and feeling pleasant enough in that sunshine. But for many, it's
02:49a cooler day compared to Saturday. Further rain or showers and thunderstorms across parts
02:54of England and Wales on Monday, one or two showers further north as well, before those
03:00showers eventually ease away during Tuesday, turning drier and cooler for many midweek.
