A little rain is expected over parts of Scotland but for most this weekend will be dry with sunny spells. After a fresh start it’ll turn warmer as we go into next week. Alex Deakin has the details.

00:00Thanks for joining me for this weekend weather outlook from the Met Office.
00:04Lots of fine and sunny weather this weekend.
00:06If you're after rainfall, this isn't the chart you want to see.
00:09With a big area of high pressure just slowly moving across the UK,
00:14it's going to bring a lot of fine weather through the weekend
00:17and the dry weather likely to continue well into next week.
00:20Not completely dry everywhere, however, with this weather front just
00:23draped around the top of the high.
00:25That will bring some patchy rain to Western Scotland on Saturday
00:29and a little bit of trickle through the central belt
00:31and into eastern Scotland during the late morning, early afternoon.
00:36But tending to fizzle out as we go through the day,
00:38always keeping some thicker cloud and patchy rain
00:40across the far north of the mainland and into the Northern Isles.
00:43But elsewhere, it'll be largely dry.
00:45We'll see some cloud increasing over northern England.
00:48Small chance of a shower here.
00:50Quite a bit of cloud across Northern Ireland on Saturday too.
00:53But even here, we should see some spells of sunshine developing.
00:56Much of the southern half of the UK, blue skies for most of the day.
00:59Just a bit of patchy cloud.
01:01And after what will be a pretty fresh start to Saturday by the afternoon,
01:05temperatures widely in the low, even mid-20s across the south.
01:09Still on the cool side further north where we'll have a little bit more cloud.
01:12But if the sun comes out, of course, eastern Scotland 2021 is just about possible.
01:18Weather fronts continue to threaten the far north of Scotland as we head into Sunday.
01:22But that area of high pressure also continues to build in.
01:25Across most areas, so again, a lot of dry weather around on Sunday.
01:30Many areas across the south will see lengthy spells of sunshine.
01:34Just a bit of a question mark about how much rain we're going to see across the far northwest.
01:38The Highlands and the Western Isles will stay fairly damp, I suspect, on Sunday.
01:42Small chance of one or two showers a little further south.
01:45But for most in the central belt southwards, it will be a dry day.
01:48Again, some sunny spells across eastern Scotland and sunny spells further south,
01:53lifting the temperatures a little higher on Sunday, more widely into the mid-20s,
01:5727, 28, just about possible, 22, 23 across eastern parts of Scotland.
02:03Cooler in the northwest with that thicker cloud at times and a fairly brisk breeze blowing as well.
02:10That area of high pressure then is moving in.
02:12And even as we head into next week, sticking around, keeping the weather fronts at bay.
02:17So keeping things dry well into next week.
02:20But also we will see temperatures ticking up if we rewind, start back at Friday.
02:26Quite fresh air across the UK.
02:28But if we run through that sequence again into next week, just notice how the air just steadily warms up.
02:34And we will see temperatures on the rise, more particularly as we go into next week.
02:40Stay up to date for the latest on that.
02:43The best way to do that, of course, is to follow the Met Office across social media.
