00:00It will be a little warmer this weekend compared to much of the week and there will be some
00:04sunny spells. But the main theme for this weekend is low pressure and showers. Plenty
00:11of heavy showers. This low pressure is moving in and it's staying for the weekend just kind
00:16of milling around sitting right over us through Saturday and not a great deal of change during
00:23Sunday perhaps just edging a little bit further north. Around the edge of the low pressure
00:28that's where the isobars are closest. That's where the strongest winds will be in the centre
00:33of the low. The winds will actually be quite light at times. So let's try and put a little
00:37bit of detail on starting with Saturday. Bands of showers milling around the centre of the
00:43low to the south. That's where we'll have some reasonably gusty conditions which means
00:48that the showers will tend to zip through. So one of those days where the weather is
00:51just constantly changing. One minute it's fine and sunny. The next minute you've got
00:55a heavy downpour and it's across the southeast in particular where we're most likely to see
00:59some thunderstorms and hail possible as well. Closer to the centre of the low so southern
01:05Scotland northern England. That's where the winds are lightest and that's where the showers
01:09will be quite slow moving. So some places could have a very wet day with a shower kind
01:14of lingering over them. But it also means that there will be some lengthier drier and
01:19brighter spells in between. Across northern Scotland we're likely to see more persistent
01:23rain coming in at times and a fairly brisk wind here. That is going to keep things cool.
01:28Temperatures struggling to get much above 13 or 14 Celsius. Elsewhere at least it is
01:32a little bit warmer than it has been for much of this week. Obviously it's going to feel
01:37cooler when the showers come along with the brisk breeze. But in the south between the
01:42showers when the sun pops out we could get up to 18 maybe 19 or 20 in one or two locations.
01:48But as I said it'll feel a bit cooler because of the wind and because of the downpours.
01:52Plenty more of those heavy showers to come as we go through Saturday night and into Sunday.
01:57Low pressure continuing to dominate things just maybe showing signs of edging a little
02:03bit further north. Which means parts of the south particularly the southwest will probably
02:07see fewer showers on Sunday. So a better chance for Wales and southwest England of some lengthier
02:13dry spells. Most of the shower activity during Sunday morning rather likely to be close to
02:18the low pressure. Another fairly wet day across northern Scotland where these bands
02:23of showers are. Well we'll have to firm up more on the detail of that closer to the time.
02:27But basically expect showers to come and go as we go through the day. The winds not as
02:32strong across the south as well. So a decent chance as I said some lengthier brighter spells
02:37on Sunday and much of the afternoon may actually be dry here. But again where we see the showers
02:42they could be heavy perhaps even thundery once more. Temperatures similar to Saturday's
02:47values so generally getting up into the high teens with a bit of sunshine across the southeast
02:5120 maybe 21 degrees Celsius but still that cool wind blowing across northern Scotland.
02:57The low pressure continues to dominate into next week as well. So keep up to date with
03:02the forecast throughout this weekend. Watch the radar yourself if you download our app
