This weekend will see temperatures rise a little again, but it wont be a dry weekend. Most places will see a few showers on Saturday and on Sunday some parts could get some heavy rain. Alex Deakin has the details.

00:00Hello. Welcome to your latest
00:02weekend updates from the Met
00:03office. It won't rain all
00:05weekend. It won't be a washout.
00:06There will be dry and bright
00:07spells.
00:08However, there will be further
00:10showers never too far away,
00:11blown along by a fairly brisk
00:14but not particularly strong
00:15wind, although it could get quite
00:16gusty on Sunday.
00:18And also on Sunday, we're keeping
00:19our eyes peeled on the potential
00:21for some places seeing some
00:23heavier rain.
00:25Now, as you might imagine, when
00:26we're talking about showers and
00:27brisk breezes, low pressure
00:29is the main dominant feature
00:30through this weekend. In fact,
00:31we've got a couple of systems
00:33moving in, this one arriving on
00:34Friday night, a brief
00:36gap before that next weather
00:38system arrives later on Saturday
00:40and into Sunday.
00:41This first weather system will
00:43make for a fairly damp start
00:45on Saturday.
00:46Early in the day, a lot of cloud
00:47rain, some snow over the Scottish
00:49mountains and quite breezy.
00:51But it does move away.
00:52And for large chunks of the
00:54country, particularly Wales,
00:56parts of northern England,
00:57southern England, actually much
00:59of Saturday afternoon looks dry
01:00and bright. But then that next
01:02weather system arrives, the breeze
01:04picks up and more rain comes to
01:05Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:06during the day and perhaps into
01:08parts of northwest England and
01:09north Wales, too.
01:11So there's a brief interlude
01:13between the wet weather and it
01:15does sound a bit milder on Saturday
01:16as well. It's turned a bit colder
01:18over recent days.
01:19Temperatures back up into the teens
01:21in some spots if we see any
01:22brightness on Saturday afternoon.
01:24Big question mark about Saturday
01:25night and Sunday.
01:26This weather front comes in.
01:27It could have a little wriggle or
01:29ripple on it.
01:30And when we see these waving
01:31weather fronts, well, they can
01:33cause a couple of complications
01:35with the forecast.
01:35They could also provide some quite
01:37heavy bursts of rain.
01:38So there is the potential for some
01:40heavy rain on that weather front.
01:41But it could be a little further
01:42east. It could be a little further
01:43west. But for some, it could be a
01:45pretty soggy Sunday.
01:47Away from that weather front,
01:48though, parts of the east of
01:49England, maybe largely dry and
01:51bright and further north.
01:52We should see some sunny spells
01:53across parts of Scotland and
01:54Northern Ireland.
01:55Just a few showers here.
01:57But also you'll notice the wind
01:58starting to come down from the
02:00north. So actually turning a bit
02:01colder here, whereas of course,
02:02England, Wales, Sunday looks
02:04like being another mild day, but it
02:05won't be feeling all that mild,
02:07obviously, if you're stuck under
02:08that waving weather front and
02:10potentially a fair bit of rain.
02:12However, if you're after some dry
02:14weather, next week looks like a
02:15decent shout.
02:17High pressure is arriving and
02:19overall, well, it'll be much
02:21drier and we should see in places
02:22some sunshine.
02:23So a few signs of spring, perhaps
02:25as we go into next week.
