00:00Hello. Welcome to your weekend
00:02forecast from the Met Office,
00:04a weekend that will see
00:05a big change in the weather.
00:07It's going to start hot,
00:08but by the end of the weekend,
00:09temperatures will be back
00:11closer to where they have been
00:13for much of June so far.
00:15There will be plenty of sunshine
00:16around this weekend, but also
00:18a few showers here and there too.
00:20Now, the heat, as you may well
00:22already know, is coming up from
00:23Spain, France and even North
00:26Africa because high pressure is
00:27dominating across the UK,
00:29but low pressure isn't too far
00:30away. And it's a combination
00:32that's allowing the winds to
00:33draw up the hot air
00:35from France and Spain.
00:36Now, we're not going to see the
00:37temperatures that we're going to
00:38see across France, but those
00:40temperatures will be rising
00:41through Friday and especially
00:43into Saturday.
00:44And then it's this weather front
00:46which will eventually introduce
00:47the cooler conditions for all.
00:49Now, that process will start on
00:51Saturday and as well as
00:52introducing cooler air, it will
00:53bring more cloud on Saturday
00:55across Northern Ireland, Western
00:56Scotland, Western fringes of
00:58England and Wales.
00:59And there could just be one or two
01:00showers dotted about, particularly
01:01across Scotland.
01:02But they will be dotted about.
01:04Most places won't see them and
01:06stay dry.
01:06But as I say, more cloud in the
01:08west on Saturday compared to
01:10Friday.
01:10And as a result, it won't be as
01:12hot. Whereas in the east,
01:14well, we've seen the winds coming
01:15in from a chilly North Sea.
01:16A switch in wind directions means
01:18here temperatures will really
01:20jump up. How much hotter day
01:21across much of eastern England.
01:23How hot could we get?
01:24Well, we are expecting over 30
01:26degrees and the possibility up to
01:2934 degrees Celsius
01:30across some areas through eastern
01:32England. Notice in the west
01:34temperatures, nothing like that
01:35high. So a drop in temperatures
01:37here between Friday and Saturday,
01:39whereas in the east, temperatures
01:40are going up.
01:42And for many, it'll be a fine
01:44warm balmy summer's evening
01:46on Saturday evening before this
01:48cold front does switch
01:50things around. Just look at it.
01:50Brush away all that hot air
01:53spreading it back into the near
01:55continent since the UK changing
01:57colour from red back to
01:59yellow as temperatures revert
02:01back closer to average for Sunday.
02:03There'll still be plenty of fine
02:04weather around on Sunday, but a
02:05fresher feel.
02:06And there will be showers in
02:08western Scotland, one or two
02:10for Northern Ireland, northwest
02:11England, maybe into Wales.
02:12But again, they'll be well
02:13scattered. For many, it will be
02:15dry, certainly across many central
02:16and eastern parts, and there'll
02:17still be some sunshine.
02:19But it's that switch in wind
02:20direction not coming up from the
02:21south anymore, but coming in from
02:23the west, bringing that fresher
02:25feel and bringing temperatures
02:26back closer to average.
02:27Still a bit warmer than it has
02:29been. We could still get up to the
02:30mid 20s, possibly in the sunshine
02:32across the southeast corner.
02:34But for many, it'll be low 20s
02:36at best.
02:36And for quite a few of us, we'll be
02:38sticking back into the teens by
02:40Sunday afternoon, a much fresher
02:42end to the weekend, as I said.
02:44But still plenty of fine weather to
02:45be had this weekend.
02:47Don't forget, UV levels are likely
02:49to be high, along with
02:50pollen levels at times, too.
02:52For more advice on that and
02:54to keep track on the temperatures,
