00:00Hello. Welcome to your weekend forecast from the Met Office.
00:03A weekend that's for most is a bank holiday, a three-day weekend in which
00:07temperatures will be rising. After what's been a pretty wet August so far, it is
00:13going to turn warmer this weekend. In some places, not everywhere, but in some
00:17spots, temperatures are likely to reach 30 degrees. It's going to feel pretty hot
00:21and the vast majority having a dry weekend. There is some uncertainty about
00:24how many showers we see and about how much cloud we see as well. I'm not saying
00:29it's going to be crystal clear blue skies everywhere, but I think we'll all
00:33notice that warming trend. Because high pressure is dominating across northern
00:37Europe and southerly winds are wafting up warmer air from France and from
00:42Spain and that will lift those temperatures. Notice there are a couple
00:46of weather fronts around and they will provide a bit more cloud at times and
00:50maybe even a few showers here and there. One of those weather fronts will
00:54certainly bring thicker cloud across northwest Scotland during Saturday, maybe
00:57the west of Northern Ireland too, providing possibly a few showers. Central
01:01Scotland, southern Scotland, east of Northern Ireland and the bulk of England
01:05and Wales, they're looking to have a fine day if you like it warmer and sunny. It
01:10could start a bit misty in the south, but generally it's hazy sunshine for the
01:14majority and those temperatures responding to a bit of sunshine as well.
01:18The warmer air spreading north, quite a bit warmer than it has been for most of
01:21this week. Widely over 20 Celsius and for the bulk of England and Wales, low mid.
01:27Even high 20s across parts of the east. That's where we're likely to see the
01:30peak of the temperatures. 30 Celsius is just about possible on Saturday. It's more
01:35likely on Sunday, but by Sunday weather fronts are just creeping in. There's a
01:40bit of uncertainty about how much cloud will be on these weather fronts and
01:43whether they'll provide any showers. At the moment it looks like most places
01:46will be dry again on Sunday, but certainly in the west there will be a
01:50bit more cloud around so the sunshine could be rather more hazy. Again it's
01:53eastern areas where we're likely to see the top temperatures on Sunday and it's
01:57going to feel pretty hot by this stage. Temperatures through the afternoon in
02:01particular across central and eastern areas into the high 20s, maybe low 30s.
02:06Just increasing chance of seeing a bit more cloud across northern Scotland.
02:09Again maybe one or two showers here and the possibility even of a few showers
02:14further south, but that heat as I said mostly across central and eastern
02:18England. That's where we'll see those values into the high 20s. 30, 31 is
02:23possible on Sunday. Elsewhere it is still quite a bit warmer than it has been, but
02:27we're not going to see the heat that we will see across the east. Into Monday
02:32further ahead so again some uncertainty. There's a weather front trying to push
02:36more cloud and rain into the far northwest. Generally there could be a bit
02:39more cloud around further south and there's some uncertainty about how
02:42quickly we start to push away the hot air across the east. At the moment it
02:47looks like well with some sunshine across eastern England we could still
02:50easily get into the high 20s, possibly the low 30s. But again further west it
02:55won't be that hot. We're looking at temperatures in the high teens, low to
03:00maybe mid 20s. It really is across eastern England where the heat could
03:03persist into Monday, but as I said there's a bit of uncertainty about the
03:06extent of the heat. But for the vast majority it is looking like a fine and
03:10very warm weekend with plenty of hazy sunshine and most places staying dry.
03:15Just a bit of uncertainty about exactly how hot it gets and so for how long the
03:20heat lasts as well. For the very latest make sure you stay up to date with the
