00:00Hello. Welcome to your weekend forecast from the Met Office.
00:04Overall, as we go through the weekend and into the early part of Christmas week,
00:08the weather does look like turning at least a little bit
00:11drier after what has been a very wet few days.
00:14Also, turning a bit less windy through the weekend,
00:17but it's not going to be completely dry.
00:18There will be some rain, especially in the south on Saturday night.
00:22That is going to come from this approaching weather system.
00:25Ahead of it, well, it's still low pressure in control
00:28during Friday night. The isobars are spacing out a little bit.
00:32That's what's going to mean the wind's at least a little bit lighter.
00:35But that could actually then allow some mist and fog patches to form on Saturday morning.
00:40And as you can see, it's not completely dry.
00:42There'll be a few showers around, particularly across parts of Scotland,
00:45where there'll be snow on the tops of the mountains.
00:47Maybe the odd heavier shower across the south initially,
00:50but generally looking a lot drier on Saturday until this next area of rain.
00:55Some brighter colours there, some heavier bursts coming to southwest England
00:59and South Wales on Saturday afternoon.
01:02Temperature wise, well, around about average for the time of year,
01:05across much of northern Britain, six to eight degrees.
01:07We could late in the day get up to double figures across the south,
01:10but it's not going to feel very mild with the wet and windy weather arriving.
01:14That is from this area of low pressure that just zips across the south
01:18on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
01:20And with heavy rain after a very wet week,
01:23there is the potential for further problems.
01:25So there is the risk of flooding, the risk of travel disruption.
01:29So there is a yellow warning in force across the south through Saturday,
01:32Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
01:35But that rain should be clearing away from East Anglia and the southeast on Sunday morning.
01:40And then again, it's a case of dry, bright spells with a few showers.
01:44Again, it could start quite misty and murky, a few fog patches around as well.
01:48Most of the showers look like being in the west and particularly again in western Scotland,
01:53where the showers will keep coming all weekend.
01:55But for a good part of England, Wales, eastern Scotland,
01:59much of the weekend will be a lot drier after a very wet week.
02:03Temperature wise, well, again, single figures for most,
02:06maybe double digits across parts of the south around about average for the time of year.
02:11Overall, though, the weather is turning at least a little bit drier as we go into Christmas week.
02:15But there are warnings in force for the next few days.
02:18And that one, of course, is Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday morning.
