Weekend weather – Some rain, but how much will we see in the east?
The weekend brings some rain across the UK but we may not get much across the eastern side, where it has been very dry. Further north expect a damp start to Saturday but it’ll get drier and brighter through the day. Alex Deakin has the details.

00:00Welcome along to your weekend weather updates.
00:03There'll be some rain around, but again,
00:05across much of eastern England, most of the weekends
00:07will be dry.
00:08And here, we'll have some warm sunshine around as well.
00:11But some rain coming in on these weather fronts
00:13across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:15The ice bar is just squidging together a little as well,
00:18so it will turn pretty gusty at times
00:20across the far northwest.
00:21Rain moving in on Friday night, a soggy start
00:24across much of Western Scotland, Northern Ireland to the weekend.
00:28The rain will trickle into parts of northwest England,
00:31a little bit of showery rain crossing through Wales.
00:34But a good part of the day, I suspect,
00:36across the Midlands and eastern England
00:38will stay dry with sunny spells.
00:40And Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:42should actually turn drier through the morning
00:44and brighten up through the afternoon, just one or two
00:46scattered showers in the northwest.
00:48The thicker cloud will persist over maybe the Lake District,
00:52and we'll see some of that wetter weather
00:54just trickling into West Wales late in the day.
00:56Around Western coasts, it'll always be fairly breezy,
00:58and temperatures will struggle under the thicker cloud
01:01and where there's rain.
01:02But generally, temperatures are going
01:04to be above average on Saturday, and the sunny spells
01:06across eastern England, 25, maybe 26.
01:09And we could get into the low 20s across eastern Scotland
01:12if we see some sunshine through the afternoon.
01:14Cooler in the northwest, where it will be fairly gusty.
01:17But that low is scooting away during Saturday night
01:20and into Sunday.
01:21Big question mark on Sunday about where
01:23this wiggling, waving weather front sits.
01:26At the moment, it's most likely to be
01:28light across parts of Wales and the Midlands.
01:31But it could be a little further north.
01:33It could be a little further south.
01:34If you're desperate for rain across parts
01:36of southern England, well, don't hold out too much hope,
01:39because this will be fizzling out as it moves its way in.
01:42But it will bring some rain, it looks like,
01:43to Wales, parts of southwest England.
01:45Further north, certainly across Western Scotland,
01:47Northern Ireland, a mostly dry and bright day.
01:49But some showers will come in across parts of eastern
01:52Scotland and northeast England, with a cool breeze coming
01:55in here, temperatures only in the mid to high teens.
01:58So quite a difference compared to Saturday.
02:00Again, it'll be the southeast where
02:02we see the highest temperatures.
02:03A lot will depend on how much sunshine we see.
02:06But with a bit of blue sky, we could easily
02:08get into the mid to high 20s.
02:10But generally, more typically, low 20s once more on Sunday.
02:15Some uncertainty, then, about the details for Sunday.
02:17So stay up to date with the latest forecast.
02:19Best way to do that, of course, follow
