00:00Welcome to your weekend forecast from the Met Office.
00:03After the heat and humidity and thunderstorms
00:06over the past few days, it's all changed into the weekend.
00:09Low pressure will be the dominant feature.
00:13If you're not a fan of the warmth and humidity,
00:15then there is good news, because this cold front
00:17is going to sweep away all that warmth and humidity
00:20and introduce much fresher air as it
00:23wanders across the country during Friday night
00:26and into Saturday.
00:27And that cooler air will be in place through Saturday
00:30and lasting for Sunday.
00:31That low pressure system isn't moving too far.
00:34And another thing it's going to do with its isobars tightly
00:36packed is bring some fairly gusty conditions to Northern
00:40Ireland initially, but increasingly
00:41to Western Scotland.
00:42And seasonably windy in the Northwest this weekend.
00:47Elsewhere, the winds won't be too strong,
00:49but it will be noticeably breezier.
00:51And that fresher feel will also be in evidence on Saturday.
00:54Some rain initially across Northern Scotland,
00:56scooting away.
00:57And then, well, it's a case of watching the showers develop.
01:00Now, the closer you are to that low pressure system,
01:03the more showers you're likely to see.
01:05More persistent rain at times for Northern Ireland,
01:08particularly in the West.
01:09Elsewhere, the showers will be a bit more scattered
01:11because of that breeze.
01:12They'll tend to zip through.
01:15But there will be plenty of them across Wales,
01:17western parts of England, southwest Scotland.
01:20Northeast Scotland, eastern parts of England
01:22may not see a shower at all, all day.
01:24So some good spirals of sunshine here.
01:26And it's in the east where we'll, as a result,
01:28see the top temperatures.
01:30But we'll have lost the heat and humidity.
01:31We could still get up to 23, maybe 24 Celsius.
01:35For many, though, certainly further west,
01:37there will be that cooler and fresher feel
01:39with temperatures in the high teens, low 20s at best.
01:42I'm feeling a lot colder with that gusty wind
01:45for Northern Ireland and the west coast of Scotland.
01:48And with that low still in place during Sunday,
01:50that wind is still going to be there during Sunday as well.
01:53So again, very gusty and usually windy for the time of year
01:56around Irish sea coast and up the western side of Scotland.
01:59Sunday, probably windier in western Scotland
02:02with more showers likely here.
02:03Showers for Northern Ireland.
02:04Again, the closer you are to that low,
02:06the more showers there'll be.
02:08So western parts of England seeing them.
02:10Not too many for eastern parts of England.
02:12Decent chance of a dry day for East Anglia and the southeast.
02:16And again, as a result, we'll see that temperature contrast
02:18with the sunnier skies in the southeast,
02:20the highest temperatures.
02:21Although again, noticeably cooler than recent days
02:24and further west, we'll only see temperatures
02:26in the mid to high teens.
02:28So it is turning fresher.
02:29It is turning more comfortable, both by day and by night.
02:33But there will be plenty of showers
02:34around this weekend as well.
