00:00Stallion open house season has been busy at Windstar, as the farm has added three new
00:04stallions in Cogburn, Timberlake, and Heartland.
00:08Bloodstock agent Fletcher Mock was among the breeders checking out the newcomers.
00:21They're exciting stallion prospects, I think.
00:24They, all three, have bold bodies and good bone, nice feet.
00:29They were all accomplished as two-year-olds, which I think is important for a lot of breeders.
00:34One of the most fun things that we get to do every year is open our doors and invite
00:38all the breeders and all of our customers into Windstar.
00:41It's especially exciting this year because we've got three new stallions that we have
00:46to show, starting with Cogburn.
00:48He's been incredibly well-received, a beautiful horse, and going over very well with the breeding
00:54public.
00:55Turf sprinting sensation Cogburn set a record-going five-and-a-half furlongs in under a minute
01:00in the grade one jiper.
01:02The son-of-not-this-time will stand for $30,000 in 2025.
01:07You know, in talking to breeders, I think one thing that's been really important to
01:10him is, A, his two-year-old form, and B, his dirt form.
01:14He really excelled as a two-year-old and showed a ton of ability on the dirt.
01:19When you have a horse that can do something as special as what he did in the jiper, come
01:24back at Kentucky Downs and show himself and his ability there, it's just really exciting
01:30to have a horse that is so unique, so fast.
01:34We've had a lot of success with horses like Distorted Humor and Spite's Town and More
01:39Than Ready, who had really that elite speed.
01:42It's rare that you see a stallion come in and have as much composure and as much presence
01:47as he's had.
01:48The first day he came in, he went up there, put his head down, walked like he'd been doing
01:52this for 10 years.
01:55Named a TDN Rising Star after breaking his maiden by over nine lengths, Timberlake went
01:59on to claim the Champagne at two and the Rebel at three.
02:03He'll stand for $20,000 in 2025.
02:06Well, I do think it's important that he is one of only two Sons of Intimiscia standing
02:12at Stadium Kentucky that are grade one winners at two.
02:16The fact that he did win a very important race as a two-year-old in the Champagne and
02:21then he ran on to run in the Rebel, I think is a good indication that, again, you're not
02:26limited in your scope of exclusively being a splinter or a two-year-old horse.
02:30Very talented, very precocious, and just a big, strong, handsome horse that people are
02:36really falling in love with when they come out here.
02:41Born and raised at Windstar, Heartland was at the head of his class from day one.
02:45He earned a 90 buyer speed figure in his Rising Star worthy debut, and while his career was
02:50cut short soon after, the Windstar team is confident that he has the credentials to join
02:55the farm stallion roster.
02:58To have the level of horsemanship between David Hanley, Elliott Walden, Bob Baffert
03:04speaking this highly of this horse, we felt that he really deserved a shot here in Kentucky.
03:10So he'll be well supported.
03:12Justify, obviously, is doing incredible things as a stallion.
03:16I think it's a great access point to Justify at that $10,000 level, and he's got the pedigree
03:23to back it up, being a half-brother to a two-year-old champion in Classic Empire.
03:29So I think you're looking at a double dose of Stormcat in that horse, top and bottom,
03:34which I think would give you, again, a lot of speed, big, strong shoulder, big, strong
03:39hip.
03:40But he's a horse that, unfortunately, had to end his career early, but I think it comes
03:44down to just having the breeder support, people who know how to plan matings for their
03:49mares, and letting them have the opportunity to do it and help make the stallion.
