00:002023 was another hugely successful year for progeny of Frankel on the racetrack
00:05and his merits were tested as a sire of sires when his grandson Ace Impact
00:09remained unbeaten and won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Now standing alongside
00:13Frankel at Juddmonds Banstead Manor is his son Chaldean who was a group one
00:17winning two-year-old who also claimed the 2000 guineas. Shane Horan tells us
00:22all about Chaldean who was bought by the operation as a foal.
00:26Chaldean is the new horse, son of Frankel which we're delighted about because we've
00:31always been very keen to obviously get a son of Frankel. He wasn't a homebred so
00:35he's he's the first in our lineup not to have been born here but did re. We bought
00:40him as a foal, he cost 550,000, he was bred by Whitsbury Manor stud. We're very
00:45good breeders, very good clients of ours and it's a nomination that worked
00:50out really really well and thankfully we were the benefactors of it too. He had a
00:55stellar racing career and now he joins us here and getting ready for the season
01:00now next month. He put together a very good sequence of wins following his
01:04maiden he won three very prestigious two-year races in the Acom Stakes at
01:08York, the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster and the Dewhurst Stakes. The
01:13Dewhurst Stakes is obviously sort of the crowning race of the year and of the
01:16two-year-old season and he did then the second fastest time ever which was a
01:20was great and straight away we kind of knew we had a stallion prospect even
01:24just based on that but then you know obviously he was trained as a
01:28three-year-old and won the 2000 guineas very well. That then solidified his
01:34stallion career and then with the credentials of being a son of Frankel
01:37out of a very fast mare who was who's a proven producer of fast two-year-olds
01:42and sprinters so we knew we had an exciting package to deal with.
01:46Always a very strong foal and had that big big hip and strong shoulder on him
01:51very big walker wasn't an overly big horse you know but he but he still
01:57continued to grow he came here during us for a summer break and he was just under
02:0015 three hands and when he came then you know as a stallion then he was probably
02:06a month before this December sales you know he was just measuring 15 three and
02:09a quarter he's just turned four now but you know as a May 10th foal he's probably
02:14going to continue growing and you know maybe touch that 16 hands. It's been a
02:18while since I've had a new horse where there's been such a response to him
02:22obviously there was plenty of interest before he came to stud and again I think
02:26just going back to people remembering what he was like as a foal and you know
02:31if he can throw like him you know and then the precocity on his damn side you
02:35know she was a Dutch art out of a green desert mare so there's a lot of speed there
02:39and you know he has the credentials to be a successful stallion and fingers
02:45crossed now he can go do it. Frankel had 11 new group home winners in 2023 alone
02:52you know he regained the Sires championship by a significant margin and
02:57you know his first big son to stud was was Craxman and from his first crop he
03:02gets an unbeaten French Derby and ARC winner and Ace impact so that's very
03:06encouraging you know and then again thrown in the fact that you know
03:10Charlene was a very good two-year-old it is encouraging and fingers crossed.
