00:00Now gradually getting to him, and suddenly Agate Road coming out of nowhere, Agate Road,
00:13mowed them all down.
00:14Agate Road was the beautiful son of Quality Road that we bought last year, Keeneland September
00:20book one.
00:21He's a big, beautiful body, very well balanced.
00:24He has a very athletic look about him, beautiful walk.
00:29Todd thought that he was turfy, and when he tried him on the grass, worked him on the
00:36grass, he showed an affinity to the turf.
00:39Agate Road has a full sister named Plentitude, who won on the grass and was recently fourth
00:44in his stake at Monmouth.
00:46I think when you get the combination of Quality Road with a female family that has turf, you
00:51obviously have the chance that turf will emerge, and in this case, with Agate Road, it has.
00:57It was a nice surprise that he took to the turf.
01:00I think he showed his versatility on both.
01:02His first start, he just got beat a nose on the dirt, and then running him back on the
01:07turf, he just had such an acceleration at the end.
01:10Looked like he was hopelessly beaten.
01:12With like an eighth of a mile to go, he still was ninth.
01:16You know, when you're watching and rooting, you're hoping at that point maybe he's going
01:19to be fourth, maybe he's going to be third, maybe he's going to be second, and then you're
01:24rooting for him to win.
01:25It was quite an eye-catching, spectacular run that got him home first.
01:30And suddenly, Agate Road coming out of nowhere!
01:34Agate Road mowed them all down!
01:37Being able to watch these young future stars develop, it gives you a sense of renewed hopefulness
01:43and gratitude, and to have such a talented son of Quality Road as a part of our stable
01:48has just been amazing.
01:49You know, we've had a really good experience with the Quality Roads in the past.
01:53Dr. Post was probably the most notable for us.
01:57As a sire, he stamps them pretty well.
02:00You know, they have a very long, elegant look to them.
02:04They're just beautiful bodied horses, very classy.
02:07They look like they have good minds.
02:08I think the other thing that should be pointed out about Quality Road is that while he was
02:14a superior dirt horse, he is by elusive quality who himself was a turf horse.
02:20Just recently, within the last month, he's had three major turf winners, Spray at Saratoga,
02:28Talk of the Nation, and Wadsworth.
02:30In fact, they came back and ran one-two in the Million Dollar Gun Runner at Kentucky
02:34Downs the other day.
02:37Quality Road is very capable of getting a turf horse as well as a dirt horse.
02:41As a matter of fact, I believe he's fifth on the general sire list right now, and he's
02:45sixth on the turf sire list.
02:48So, you know, you have the opportunity when you buy a Quality Road to have the gamut of
02:54options available to you.
