00:00Among the first season sires who are making quite an impression at the yearlings sales
00:05this year is Camico, the dual group one winning son of Kittens Joy who won the 2000 guineas
00:10in emphatic style. He stands at Tween Hills as part of the guitar racing stallion roster
00:16and David Redvers tells us about the impressions his yearlings are making.
00:21Well he was an incredibly good value yearling that we bought from Keeneland. At the time
00:27we knew that our Kittens Joy horse, Roaring Lion, was obviously well above average. He
00:33hadn't been fully exposed and so we were very definitely again trying to see if we could
00:38buy the best Kittens Joy in the sale again that year. He had that sort of great physicality,
00:43great movement, walked a bit like a leopard, just like Roaring Lion did and he had this
00:50fantastic presence and temperament and character. So we went in there fully expecting to have
00:55to pay considerably more than we paid for Roaring Lion and we ended up paying I think
01:01$90,000 so it was one of those, we were shocked at the time and he's never stopped pleasing
01:10us ever since. Andrew started making really positive noises about him quite early on.
01:16He just liked the horse, loved his attitude and then started to make really positive noises.
01:23He uses a system called Aquinity which measures stride length and heart rate and what have
01:28you and after his first proper away day he got hold of me and said I think the system
01:33must be broken because it doesn't make sense. It was just really a wonderful journey. It
01:40was a very difficult year with Covid. The following year as his three-year-old he was
01:44favourite for the guineas all over the winter having broken the two-year-old track record
01:48at Newcastle when he won the group one up there. First time there had ever been a group
01:53one run on the all-weather in Europe. He looked incredibly impressive that day. When we came
01:59to the guineas at the time it was a month late. It was all about are we going to get
02:05a run? Is racing going to happen? Are all our three-year-olds going to be wasted? What's
02:11going to happen? So we suddenly got the green light to go and what happened there was just
02:16amazing with that wonderful iconic photograph of a deserted grandstand and Marie the lovely
02:21girl who looked after him jumping for joy as he passed the post. It was just a wonderful
02:30wonderful day. Having lost Roaring Lion we sent him all of our best mares and so as a
02:36result we've got some absolute cracking yearlings at home. So FAD decided to put a few on the
02:42market and let them sell and let the market decide what they were worth and at Arcana
02:46they averaged €177,000 and they were very much of the more of the sort of French style
02:53but they they looked fantastic and the thing that stood out about them was their amazing
02:57mindset again as well as their action and athleticism. Then here he's come with a typical
03:04more of a donny type of horse. You know there's mares that I sent him, Lady Miquel that breeds
03:11sprinters and Richard Hannan has just given €95,000 for the colt who looked a real speedball.
03:18We've been getting the most gratifying feedback imaginable really. Chainers want to chain
03:25things that look like they want to work for them. The outlook is so important. So obviously
03:34you see the physical, you like the physical but then what they're loving is the fact that
03:39they really they look like dad they want to get on with it and help them and I think that's
03:42going to be the thing that really stands out as we go forward is the fact that they're
03:47proper trainers horses.
