00:00I think the really, really, really exciting thing about Pete's Bianca is the unbelievable
00:21pedigree that she possesses.
00:22Obviously, we're talking about a filly that won a Breeders' Cup as a two-year-old in very,
00:27very impressive fashion, but just from a pedigree standpoint, to me, it's just an amazing collection
00:33of the who's-whos of the last half-century.
00:37She's by Fastenet Rock, who truly was really one of the first legitimate international
00:43sires.
00:45She's been very special from day one, one because of her pedigree.
00:49She's got a remarkable pedigree.
00:51She's won the Breeders' Cup.
00:52We've been trying to win a race at the Breeders' Cup for quite a few years, and she's done
00:57it, which is great.
00:58On paper, we had two choices, going to the Breeders' Cup, which was just a touch ambitious,
01:03or to run in the stakes in New York at the same time where she would have been odds-on-favorite.
01:07Mr. Flay was always a pretty strong opinion, wanted to go to the Breeders' Cup.
01:11He was right.
01:12It just shows that nothing works according to plan in racing.
01:17We expected her to be stoking, saving ground, make one run, but we ended up last at one
01:22stage, so forget about the stoking part.
01:25But Rosie never panicked.
01:26She still saved ground, and she had the most beautiful, beautiful run from the quarter
01:31pole to the wire.
01:32She just had finished everybody, and she won.
01:35Thank you, Rosie Ortiz, and thank you for the feeling, because obviously, she had the
01:38talent.
01:39Also coming is Hoddy, who's it going to be?
01:42Pizza!
01:43Bianca gives Christophe Thibault his first Breeders' Cup.
01:47And then it was Malavant, followed by Hoddy in the juvenile...
01:51She's very good-looking.
01:53She's average size, powerful, very deep shoulder, very strong hand-leg.
01:57She's not at all small, and she's not over-big.
01:59She's just perfectly, very, very well-balanced, with a gorgeous head.
02:04And I don't think she can look much better than what she does at the moment.
02:08I think that when you look at Pizza Bianca, it really... she epitomizes what Bobby Flay's
02:15commitment is to the industry, and what he's trying to accomplish as a breeder.
02:21He's been a collector of some of the finest pedigrees in the world, and to see the success
02:27that he's achieving as a breeder, and obviously as an owner of a filly like Pizza Bianca,
02:34it shows you that Bobby's trying to compete at the highest level, and he's trying to produce
02:38the very best racehorses.
02:41Very few people have access to that kind of pedigree.
02:44I mean, it's a remarkable pedigree.
02:46You know, Mr. Flay bought the dam, I think, for $2 million.
02:50I mean, it's a very difficult pedigree to have access to.
02:54She's a grade-one winner from a grade-one family, which is a huge deal.
02:57She can still run.
02:58She's sound.
02:59She's a gorgeous-looking filly.
03:01So you could have fun as a four-years-old, and then retire as a broodmare prospect.
03:04I believe Bobby's selling her because, obviously, he owns the mare, the dam, so he can reproduce
03:10another Pizza Bianca.
03:12And you know, whenever you've got a broodmare band as good and as strong as he does, once
03:19in a while you've got to cash in in order to stay at that top level.
03:21They're really talking, you know, Bobby Flay is becoming, in the States, what Joe Lee used
03:25to be in England, which is, you know, small number of mares, but just the best.
03:30And in order to stay at that level, you've got to be able to cash in once in a while.
03:35And it's a great story for our industry to see a high-profile participant in our industry
03:41like Bobby, you know, win a Breeders' Cup race.
03:44I mean, you know, it was like the perfect script last year, you know, when she wins
03:48the Breeders' Cup.
03:51It's great to have the representation of somebody like Bobby.
03:55But more important than the participation, it's his passion.
03:59It's his love for the game.
04:00It's his love for the horse.
04:02It's his desire to be, you know, a great breeder and to be a great owner and a great
04:08industry representative.
04:09And we're all fortunate that he has this passion for the thoroughbred business.
04:16And we hope he continues to have great success as both a breeder and as an owner.
