00:00From an undisclosed location, all right, it's a Marriott in West London.
00:17The second ever international show of Pat's Interference and the first solo show I think
00:22we've done on a Saturday because, as you might expect, when the Patriots play overseas, our
00:27travel schedule gets screwed up a little bit.
00:29So apologies for the delay of this episode.
00:31We did have a guest already, though, this week.
00:32Derek Clawson was awesome on Drake Mays.
00:35He and I broke down his debut.
00:36We actually went live on Monday, and in the process, I accidentally killed Brett Musburger,
00:41the great and still very much alive 85-year-old Brett Musburger, stealing his intro there
00:47as we went live on Monday.
00:48Today is not live.
00:49It is recorded.
00:50It is solo.
00:51It will be shorter as we preview Pat's Jax, which, look, I said this last year in Germany,
00:56going into a game we all thought would stink, and lo and behold, whoo-hoo-hoo, was worse
01:00than we ever could have expected.
01:01The football tomorrow, again, tomorrow, Sunday, whether you're here in London or you're somewhere
01:05in the States right now listening, it's a couple of one-of-five teams.
01:10We know what we're getting into.
01:11That doesn't mean it doesn't have to be fun, and in fact, I will tell you right now, I'll
01:15give you my game pick.
01:16I think the Patriots are going to win against Jacksonville, who's a five-and-a-half-point
01:20favorite.
01:21First time as a favorite over the Patriots, by the way, since 2006, Christmas Eve, Patriots
01:26went down to Jacksonville and clinched the AFC East title.
01:29Tom Brady threw a touchdown pass at rookie tight end David Thomas.
01:32That's how long ago that was.
01:33Anyway, I think the Patriots are going to win.
01:35Yes, the football will be ugly.
01:38No, it is not permissible in mid-October to start looking at the top of the draft.
01:42Half of the season is not over if you were in this camp of one of the Patriots to lose
01:46or tank or anything like this.
01:48Just enjoy what you have, because Drake May, as Derek Clawson and I discussed last week,
01:52has completely changed that.
01:53It doesn't mean anything is guaranteed moving forward with Drake May, even tomorrow or in
01:58the future, but his physical skill set has unlocked so many new dimensions for this offense,
02:02which we'll get into in a second.
02:04All of which is to say, I hope you enjoyed Pat's Jags, even if we all know this is going
02:08to be a pig with a little bit of perfume on it.
02:11Here's what we have here today.
02:12I am going to get into our typical breakdown, when the Patriots have the ball, when their
02:16opponent has the ball.
02:17Three matchups, two keys, one wild card thought.
02:19I'm going to give you some background on London, and then I will have more travel tales when
02:23we chat.
02:24I don't know if it will be Monday night, typically when I record.
02:27It's either out late on video then, or we'll do Tuesday morning.
02:31Could have a guest as well.
02:32Again, travel is affecting a lot of the schedule, whether it's the day-to-day for the Herald
02:37or doing the podcast here.
02:38But you will get a podcast at the latest by Tuesday night, up next week, recapping this
02:43game.
02:44Let's take a little peek and head to the Jets at home for the Patriots' last game of October,
02:47which is crazy to say.
02:48Okay, let's talk London.
02:50I arrived here in London midday Thursday because the Patriots were going to come in Friday.
02:57Some folks, like I did last year in Germany, took a red-eye in from Logan, landed, and
03:02then went straight to practice.
03:03Last year, the Patriots practiced at the state-of-the-art facility that hosts the Germans' national men's
03:09soccer team.
03:10Again, everything is state-of-the-art, from the fields to the equipment.
03:14This year, they're at the Harrow School.
03:17Very famous school.
03:18Great school.
03:19One of the best in all of England, as it was told to me by our taxi driver.
03:23I'm here with my wife and a friend, if you've been listening, who's a Jaguars fan.
03:26God knows what happened to him earlier.
03:30The driver, in a way, said, oh yeah, it's one of the best schools we have.
03:33Winston Churchill went there.
03:34It's also an all-boys boarding school.
03:37When we did the press conference Friday morning, Jerron Mayo and Drake May, before practice,
03:43looked like they're standing in a gym for an elementary school, because it was pretty
03:49close to being just that.
03:51Boarding school is for boys aged 13 to 18.
03:54So they're there.
03:55We have chairs all set up.
03:56Different basketball hoops are around us, and then you go outside, and the facilities
03:59outside are very nice.
04:00Again, this is a rich boarding school.
04:02It's up on a hill.
04:03It's about 35-40 minutes northwest of London.
04:07So the Patriots did as they did a year ago, and I did a year ago, but I got a head start
04:11this year.
04:12Land, go to the Harrow School, have some meetings, then go out on their field, which had been
04:16converted, and practice.
04:18Now, after practice, we heard from Hunter Henry, Christian Gonzalez, Dietrich Weiss,
04:23Jotham Russell, oh, and Romandre Stevenson, who declared himself pretty ready to play.
04:30Good news.
04:31He also said he thought he could practice on Thursday.
04:34When we did see him practice on Friday, he was moving at a pretty good clip.
04:38Now, Friday practices, which this was identical to a Friday practice, as Gerard told me when
04:43I asked how is this going to change as far as the drills you might want to run or the
04:46intensity level, no, it's the exact same.
04:49It is still more of a walkthrough, and there's a lot more situational football on a Friday,
04:53but from what we saw, which was the first three periods, you got some individual drills,
04:58you've got some passing and catching, Romandre was moving just fine.
05:01So when he says after, yeah, I probably could have practiced yesterday, and I think I'll
05:05be ready to go on Sunday, Gerard called him a game-time decision.
05:08I would just, if you're playing fantasy, put him in there or bank in some kind of way that
05:12you'll at least get an 80% of Romandre Stevenson, who hadn't practiced in the last five practices
05:18that they've had due to a foot injury that he had against Miami.
05:21So that was the good news there.
05:23After that, we're writing up a couple of other notes.
05:26Drake May, speaking of injuries, didn't want to talk about his knee, and honestly, for
05:30what it's worth, because we haven't chatted since this injury popped up on the report,
05:35he was a full participant Wednesday with this knee injury, full participant on Thursday,
05:40full participant again on Friday, an MRI or no MRI, it's a non-factor.
05:45I'm not really too concerned about this, and Gerard did not want to get into specifics,
05:49that's fine, but there's been no sign of his knee injury affecting Drake's mobility,
05:53no sign of even any discomfort.
05:55Again, it's just not a factor, so it's not something that I would worry about.
05:58But Patriot's injury report excluded, as we know, Vidarian Lowe, because he was left home.
06:02Other than that, they're in pretty decent shape.
06:06Jaguars are as well, so again, it might be ugly football, but I think you're at least
06:09going to get the best players available if Romandre Stevenson is indeed back.
06:13Okay, speaking of Romandre Stevenson, we're going to do this a little bit early.
06:16The prize picks, picks of the week.
06:18Again, my record is ice cold.
06:21This is like if I wanted to jump into the Atlantic as opposed to take a flight home.
06:25The point is this, the more info we get on the Patriots, who are changing quarterbacks
06:30and have a different offensive line combination for the seventh time in seven games, the better
06:34we get to know them, the better picks are going to be.
06:36So for example, when I told you Demario Douglas should be going over his catches or receiving
06:40yards, and he goes for 92 yards, boom, that's a win.
06:43And at prize picks, there is no better way to win money than by picking players and their
06:48stats just like you can every single week at prize picks, and it takes less than 30 seconds.
06:52You take your takes, you take your fantasy players, whatever I might offer you here,
06:57and you pick more or less on their stat projections, and that's it.
07:01And prize picks this week, because we know the NBA is coming up, is giving away basically
07:05a free pick, meaning if you go between two and six player stat projections and you file
07:10them in with some kind of deposit, you could win on the other end up to 100 times your
07:13money.
07:13And here's a free one.
07:15Anthony Edwards on Tuesday night after the Celtics play the Knicks in their opener.
07:19If he scores more than one point, boom, you win.
07:22That's it.
07:22That's how easy prize picks is, again, up to 100 times your money on prize picks.
07:25Sign up today, and you get $50 instantly when you play just five bucks.
07:31You don't even need to win to get the $50 bonus.
07:33It's guaranteed.
07:33Download the app today.
07:34Use code CLNS to get $50 instantly after you play your first lineup.
07:39Again, that's prize picks.
07:41Download and use code CLNS today to get $50 instantly after you play your first $5 lineup.
07:46Prize picks.
07:47Run your game.
07:48Okay, this started with reminders.
07:50Took a long rambling way through Anthony Edwards and different explanations for how prize fix
07:54works.
07:54But the point is this.
07:55I think reminder Stevenson is an easy more than 45 and a half rushing yards, which you
08:00can find a prize fix.
08:01Now, Jacksonville has a very middling defense in every possible way, with one exception,
08:06and that's that their past defense stinks, which we'll get to in a second.
08:09But the Patriots offensive line as banged up as it is.
08:12This just means reminder Stevenson basically needs to fall forward 12 yards in each quarter
08:17to hit more than 45 and a half yards.
08:19I don't see Jacksonville pulling away.
08:21The Patriots will be able to run the ball.
08:23And from Andre plays, we'll get the majority of carries more than 45 and a half rushing
08:27yards.
08:27Number two.
08:28I mentioned Jacksonville's past defense stinks.
08:30It is the worst in the league against man coverage.
08:33You know who Drake May loves against man coverage?
08:36Demario Douglas.
08:37More than four and a half catches.
08:39This number is not going to be as easy.
08:40It is right now in the coming weeks.
08:42Still jump on Demario Douglas.
08:44More than four and a half catches for your prize fix.
08:47Of the week.
08:48Okay, we just jumped into a little bit of our talk when the Patriots have the ball.
08:52Stevenson again is big, and I mentioned the Patriots offensive line.
08:56Seven different starting combination that they've had in seven different games a season.
09:00That lineup will be as follows.
09:02Demetri Jacobs, Michael Jordan, Ben Brown at center, Lynn Robinson back at right guard,
09:07and Mike on when you at right tackle based on what I've kind of gathered this week, and
09:10maybe they'll move some players around.
09:12But from what I've seen in practice, that's a lineup I would expect.
09:16In that group, Lynn Robinson, Michael, when he will load on the right side, and you can
09:20probably throw Michael Jordan in here to the dude is six foot six 320 pounds.
09:24Those are some mean ass run blockers.
09:26Okay, so even though Jacksonville is just okay against the run, and you don't have an
09:32offensive line that anyone really signing up to put on the field for their own football
09:36team.
09:37Reminder, Stevenson Antonio Gibson are breaking tackles at a higher rate than almost anyone
09:41else in the league.
09:42And when you've got bigger dudes who you at least can commit to late in Robinson as a
09:46run blocker on the right side next to Mike on when whom the Patriots are averaging almost
09:50six yards to carry running behind earlier this season.
09:52That's enough.
09:53They've got beef up front.
09:54It's much different in pass protection, which we've been talking about all season.
09:58I would count on the Patriots being able to run the ball now when they throw again.
10:02Pop Douglas is going to be a big bonus.
10:04Jacksonville is a lot more catches against bank covers any defense in the league.
10:07Jalen Polk, though, I'm not so sure, because we heard from Gerard Mayo earlier this week.
10:12Not only say, Hey, receiver pop, it's Kendrick Bourne.
10:16It's case.
10:17I'm booty.
10:17And then there's everyone else.
10:19Jalen Polk needs to make more plays.
10:21He knows this.
10:22He was still leading off drills when we saw them at practice on Friday in a way that says,
10:26okay, he's not been kicked to the curb revenge.
10:28But on Wednesday, after making those same comments that I just relayed to you now on
10:32Monday, Gerard said, we're definitely going to make some changes.
10:36Lineup changes to put their most dependable players on the field.
10:39Now we know we can't take everything.
10:42Gerard says it makes value as far as their plan for the quarterback or the timing or
10:46this and that.
10:47But it reasons based on the film that I watched and you've seen the games to the Patriots
10:52deserve to change up some positions.
10:55Now I look at Jalen Polk and say, okay, that's a guy who could take a little bit of a breather,
10:59a little bit of a step back.
11:00Here are the numbers.
11:01Three drops, two catches in the last two games.
11:05He has had the worst yards after catch average in the entire league through week six and
11:11the second worst average separation at the catch point in the entire league.
11:15Jalen Polk has better football ahead of him.
11:17He told Mark Daniels front of the pod on the beat personal friend that there are no mental
11:21issues.
11:22As Gerard said again on Monday, he has a mental health mental, excuse me, mental hump to get
11:27over.
11:27And I think there's some probably maturity issues there.
11:31But the bottom line is fewer snaps from him.
11:34Give them over to Kendrick Bourne.
11:35He's been more productive in a per snap basis.
11:38I think is a fine change.
11:39This will not be an outright benching.
11:40This is a team that's developing young players, but I do think Jalen Polk will see fewer snaps.
11:45As for Keishon Booty, last time we heard from him, he was calling for the offense to be
11:49more aggressive after that Houston game.
11:52And I'm glad that Keishon Booty is better in year two.
11:55He's in better shape.
11:56He's more productive.
11:57It sounds like he's working harder behind the scenes, but I am not concerned and do
12:01not care that these receivers are at different times complaining or calling out the offense
12:06because I just don't think they're reliable narrators.
12:08And I know there was a lot made of that.
12:09I did TV on Monday, and I think that was in the second block.
12:12So this is early.
12:13Like you got to get to Keishon Booty ripping the offense.
12:16Keishon Booty just scored his first career touchdown, and the man still has as many healthy
12:21scratches as he does game appearances.
12:24This group needs to be better.
12:25As Gerard said, I think they also need to be better before we take what they say seriously.
12:29Even if there are fair critiques to be made, it's just I don't think they understand what
12:34the whole picture looks like because they need to get a hold of their own room and their
12:39own assignments in a way that hasn't been good enough.
12:41And when you consider the pass protection, which just doesn't allow them to have these
12:45long seven depth, seven set drops in those developing pass plays, just take a breather.
12:50I'm happy Keishon has that confidence.
12:52I'm glad he's been playing better.
12:53But if anyone's worried about the receivers being lost or calling up the coaches or any
12:57kind of disconnect there, why would you trust them to know exactly what's going on given
13:02their age, their lack of production and lack of experience in the NFL?
13:05Well, relax.
13:06Booty's better.
13:06I think he'll play a lot more.
13:08And I hope he plays better because, again, Jacksonville's the worst defense in the league
13:11against man coverage.
13:12That was man coverage that he beat for that touchdown against a big blitz.
13:16So more targets for him, more for Pop Douglas.
13:19And for Drake May hanging in the pocket, he should be a pretty cool customer.
13:24And that's someone who has studied this Patriots offensive line for every single snap that
13:28it's played this season.
13:30But Trayvon Walker has five sacks for Jacksonville.
13:33Josh Hines-Allen has two and a half.
13:36No one else, aside from those two, is remotely a threat.
13:39And as a team, they rank 31st in ESPN's pass block win rate.
13:43So yes, to Monterey Jacobs versus Trayvon Walker or Josh Hines-Allen is going to be
13:48an issue.
13:49Patriots can chip.
13:50They can slide.
13:51They can run at them.
13:52They can double.
13:52They can do anything that they want to.
13:54But I don't think Drake May is going to be prohibited in a way from taking deep play
14:00action shots, which, you know, going back to the spring, I'm talking about it here on
14:03this podcast, is the bones, the essence of this offense.
14:06It's run first so that they can drop back and throw long.
14:10Alex Van Pelt's offense led the league in intended area yards last season.
14:13The amount of distance covered by all of their quarterbacks in Cleveland last year, when
14:18they threw the football, whether it was completed or not, the Patriots are way near the bottom
14:22of the league in that category right now because they're not calling that much play
14:25action.
14:26But when that rate goes up, and it was only about 16% versus Houston, so will those area
14:31yards.
14:31So will the aggression.
14:32Welcome Kate Shambuti and the yards and touchdowns.
14:35I think they are going to get to a lot of play action versus Jacksonville, not just
14:39because the pass rushers watered down.
14:41But I talk about those bad numbers against man coverage.
14:43Jacksonville is also allowing the most yards and completions against play action.
14:52Do you need to know anything more?
14:53So Drake may, I believe we'll do a whole lot more of dropping back, faking a handoff
14:58to remind her Stevenson who's back looking deep and finding plenty of spaces in Jacksonville's
15:03zone or spaces to find man to man coverage via pop or Keishon booty or Kendrick Bourne.
15:09This is, I think, going to be a big game for Drake may.
15:11It doesn't mean he won't get strips active.
15:13He turns around and play action or doesn't throw a pick or two.
15:16I think you will see a downfield attacking passing offense in a way that we have not
15:19seen yet because of the way Jacksonville's defense is built and the way the Patriots
15:23are finally starting to find their pieces offensively and say, okay, we might be able
15:27to do this one last, uh, do this the way that the Alex van Pelt wants to.
15:32Now, one last wrinkle offensively, Drake may, I think you will see more involved in the
15:36QB run game, especially in a tight red zone, especially on third down and maybe even fourth
15:42and short, you have a super athletic six foot four 225 pound quarterback who did not run
15:48in any design runs against Houston.
15:50We saw this in the preseason scored his first NFL touchdown on a run that's coming.
15:56I don't know if it's tomorrow, but that is something I would be aware of.
16:00If I was a defensive coordinator preparing for the Patriots going, they would just be
16:04stupid not to involve them in this.
16:05And I'm not talking 10 zone reads a game, right?
16:08That exposes him to more hits.
16:10You don't want your rookie quarterback to get just demolished in a way that you were
16:13inviting that as opposed to just calling drop back passes work.
16:16And that's just something you can't avoid the threat of pressure and hits, but maybe
16:20four or five KQB power zone read, um, power read.
16:25We could see a lot of those different things.
16:26I think we might be starting to see them here on Sunday.
16:30Okay.
16:30When the Jaguars have the ball to blitz or not to blitz, the Patriots had their highest
16:35blitz rate of the season against Houston.
16:37And as much as the Texans ran up 41 points, uh, on Patriots, it wasn't really due to CJ
16:43Stroud picking them apart.
16:45Aside from those first two drives, men had fewer than 200 passing yards.
16:48Now, again, the Patriots gave up over 190 on the ground, very bad, that number, but
16:53we're starting with the blitz because that revived their pressure rate in a way that
16:57they sorely needed with Keon white here and there and no other pass rush or really being
17:04able to win one-on-one.
17:05So they get north of 30%, 30%.
17:07It's a great number for actual pressure talking hits, hurries, and sacks.
17:11They need to get pressure on Trevor Lawrence because number one, his completion percentage
17:16dips below 45% when he is pressured according to pro football focus, not a huge news break
17:23right there that quarterbacks under pressure perform worse, but he has also fumbled twice
17:28and they have enough receivers where if he's got time, not only are they fast, but they're
17:32much bigger than players like John Jones and Marcus Jones.
17:35And so Brian Thomas jr.
17:37Who's the first-round rookie at LSU leads him in all major receiving categories.
17:41Okay.
17:4125 catches, 424 yards and three touchdowns.
17:44Christian Gonzalez, I think could take care of him.
17:46I don't expect him to shadow Thomas jr.
17:48Because Christian Kirk and Gabe Davis, bigger receivers also have more than 30 targets this
17:53year.
17:54So they're all kind of squished between 30 and 42.
17:56I think targets it is total.
17:58So this is an equitable passing offense, but Lawrence who does have three picks when he's
18:02not been pressured this year, I think you want to get to because he's mobile and inevitably
18:07one of those guys is going to pull away from someone like Jonathan Jones or Marcus Jones,
18:11and they're going to win on jump balls over those two corners.
18:13Or as Jonathan Jones put it to me today with these mobile court or not today, this week
18:20with these mobile quarterbacks, even grandma gets open up for five or six seconds.
18:23So the point is, I think the Patriots will and should get back to the blitz against Trevor
18:28Lawrence because you can trust those corners.
18:30I think in tight spaces.
18:31Okay.
18:32But the longer things go on, the worse it will get for the Patriots who also, again,
18:35it's from Ken White who had three pressures against Houston or just not getting home.
18:41So that's what it is.
18:42As far as the passing offense goes with the other receivers again, Gabe Davis tends to
18:46disappear against them.
18:48He's not, he doesn't play as big as he is six for three, I think over 220 pounds, but
18:52that's something I don't want to risk over time where Jacksonville just goes, okay, we'll
18:55throw away from Gonzalez and we've got these other options.
18:58And he's also got speed in a way that the longer plays go, it should be more dangerous.
19:02Now, the other reason why I like the idea of them going back to the blitz is that this
19:06is a decent pass blocking group.
19:08They're average at PFF.
19:10They're averaged by ESPN's pass block win rate.
19:12They're not good when they're run blocking.
19:14So if you can generate not even like all out pressure, I'm not talking six or seven man
19:19blitzes, just enough five man pressures one on one for each of these guys.
19:24I think inevitably someone should get home and throw in a couple of twists and stunts
19:28in there.
19:28That pressure should get in, uh, which would obviously be good because the Patriots need
19:33an early lead.
19:34Now Lawrence on the move, I do think could be a problem.
19:37There's not many other ways to say when you're rushing, whether it's four or five or six
19:41or seven, you just kind of need to contain the mobile quarterback.
19:44There's not a lot of interesting analysis here, but it is something that I think could
19:48be problematic.
19:48If you see the Patriots fall behind 10, nothing, 14, three, whatever it might be.
19:53Trevor Lawrence being contained, given he's a guy with the legit four or five, four, six
19:58speed, uh, is something to keep an eye on.
20:01Now a player is going to have a hand in that, not because he's playing on the edge, but
20:04I think he's going to start in the middle of this defense for the first time in his
20:07life is Christian Ellis.
20:09Christian Ellis, dime linebacker had a bad penalty against Miami and their long touchdown
20:15drive.
20:15But other than that, one of the most physical and one of their faster defenders in the entire
20:19front seven is I believe going to replace Rayquan McMillan.
20:23And if you've been studying the Patriots run defense, you know that you're probably
20:26throwing a little fist pump on the table at the sound of that because McMillan has just
20:30been God awful the last three weeks.
20:32And he came in for Juwan Bentley.
20:34The Patriots are allowing over 166 rushing yards per game since Bentley left.
20:38That's not an accident.
20:39It's as much as they miss Bentley as McMillan has, uh, just not even been up to average
20:45level of play at linebacker.
20:46So here comes Christian Ellis.
20:48I talked to him this week.
20:49Six foot one, six foot two dude.
20:51He's bulked up to 238.
20:53Dante Hightower and drive may or telling him, Hey man, just, just get out of your own head.
20:57Like fly to the football.
20:58This is what you do.
20:59Trust your instincts.
21:00You do all of the research, get in there research, obviously film study and everything else that
21:05goes into it.
21:06Just do your job.
21:08And I think he will.
21:09I think you'll see that physicality show up in a way that we've seen on third down when
21:12he's blitzing the speed when you've seen him in past coverage and the numbers there aren't
21:15great, but I think it's a small sample.
21:17The tools are there.
21:18He got here last year, uh, from the Eagles and was a core special team or wasn't even
21:22in defensive meetings right now.
21:24He's in those meetings.
21:25He can play early downs.
21:26I think you'll see a little bit more of that, but the big key, whether he's starting for
21:31McMillan and playing all of the stamps or some kind of rotation or just dime defense,
21:35whatever it is, they have to wrap up because Dan Bigsby, who should start in place of Travis
21:39CTN, who, you know, it was questionable for Jacksonville and has a hamstring injury.
21:42And it's called week to week by Doug Peterson.
21:45I think on Tuesday, um, Bigby should start.
21:48He leads the NFL, the whole league in yards after contact, uh, per rush.
21:54So this dude is living up to his first name tank.
21:57He is bowling over tacklers, breaking through any effort.
22:01That's not full body to take him down.
22:03And I think the Patriots need to wrap up.
22:06Tank Bigsby does have two fumbles this year.
22:07So they have another opportunity.
22:08Same with Lawrence.
22:09They punched that football out, but that's a guy that you cannot afford to lose at the
22:13second level because he will go through you unless you fully commit.
22:16This is a big tackling game for the Patriots in a way that they had one or two bad games,
22:21really bad against the jets, uh, and then against Miami.
22:25But that was more like you had more missed tackles because you're playing more just total
22:28time on the field.
22:2975 plays.
22:29You're going to miss.
22:30I think it was upwards of nine or 10, but they need to get that number back down to
22:34six or fewer because that's the way the Jacksonville wins.
22:36You get missed tackles on fast players like Gabe Davis, like tank Bigsby.
22:40You're giving free yards away to an offense that will get in its own way.
22:44If you just sit back, be assignment sound and tackle well.
22:50So that's about it.
22:51Uh, but as I told you the previous weeks, I'm out here, not just to work.
22:56I'm out here with my wife.
22:57I'm out here with my friend who is a Jaguars fan.
22:58And the way I got tickets is the way that you should be getting tickets anywhere.
23:02And I'm not just talking about the NFL.
23:03The Celtics are going to raise the banner Tuesday night.
23:07And as someone who was lucky enough to be there for the playoff run, there is nothing
23:11like the live environment watching basketball live.
23:14And that goes for July.
23:15I'll do respect.
23:16And so whether you want to go to a Celtics game, you want to come to London for an American
23:20football game, or just go to Foxboro when the jets come later this month, the Rams are
23:23going to visit the Colts are not too far down the road.
23:25Go to game time where you get the lowest price guarantee.
23:29And if you find a lower price elsewhere, they credit you at game time, 110% of the
23:34difference.
23:35Not to mention you get the price up front.
23:37Game time picks is a new feature that filters out all the fluff, all those pesky fees, and
23:41only gives you incredible deals.
23:42It's all in pricing and you get to see your seat view.
23:45So whether you are going to see the Celtics, and again, I would encourage you, the NBA
23:48environment is much better than I think it's been in years.
23:51Go to game time now and download the game time app, create an account and use code CLNS
23:56for $20 off your first purchase anywhere you want to go.
23:59Concerts, games, shows, whatever it might be, download the game time app, create an
24:03account, use code CLNS for $20 off your first purchase.
24:06Terms do apply.
24:07Download game time today.
24:09What time is it?
24:10Game time.
24:11All right, 321 game pick and we'll get out of here.
24:13You know, I'm picking the Patriots, but I'll give you a score.
24:16Three matchups.
24:17Demetri Jacobs.
24:18I believe we'll start at left tackle again.
24:20Patriots need to give him help.
24:21Josh Heinz Allen or Trayvon Walker chip here.
24:24Double there.
24:24We've talked about this.
24:25That guy cannot be left on an island in a way that he was really in the second half
24:28against San Francisco and Nick Bosa ate his lunch.
24:32Match number two, Christian Ellis versus Tate Bigsby.
24:34We just talked about this.
24:35Ellis is one of their sure tacklers this year.
24:37Granted, he's only played 70 defensive snaps, but that's a guy that I'm going to be watching.
24:4153 in the middle.
24:42He'll fly around.
24:44He needs to wrap up on first contact because not a lot of other players are going to be
24:48behind him and available to do that.
24:49Kyle Duggar will be flying in, but I think this is a game where a lot of plays for better
24:54or worse are going to be made at the second level.
24:56How do the Patriots handle that?
24:57The traffic when you have crossing routes and when it's a running game, how often can
25:01you stop upon first contact?
25:03Christian Ellis, of course, Shalani devised in their need to stop tank Bigsby right away.
25:08The last one we're going to stay on defense because again, I just think Drake May is going
25:12to make plays in this game and be able to attack readily available holes in this Jacksonville
25:17defense.
25:17Keon White versus the edge, and this is really Keon White versus himself because the lack
25:22of discipline he's shown at times, it just invites for yards or opportunities for other
25:26teams.
25:27If he can stay to the level when he's rushing on the edge, if he can create pressure from
25:33the inside, that is so big for this defense that otherwise doesn't have guys who are as
25:38that discipline aside from maybe Anthony Jennings or be able to create pass rush on their own.
25:43They certainly don't have guys who can be able to do both like Keon does.
25:45If Keon White brings his a game, I think it's going to be a long day for Jacksonville's
25:50offensive line, which again is average and pass protection, but it will allow the Patriots
25:53defense to perhaps sit back and rush only with four.
25:56If they get the best version of Keon that they can trust to not only just get pressure,
26:00but do it in a way that's within the scheme of the defense because that's been harder
26:03to come by, but there were encouraging signs last Sunday versus Houston.
26:07Believe it or not, two keys to victory.
26:09We already talked about this tackle well, and number two, take shots downfield.
26:13Okay.
26:13Again, I don't think the Patriots receivers are reliable narrators of what's going on
26:17with the offense, but catch on booties, right there.
26:20They look good when they're aggressive.
26:21I think they'll look their best when Drake may is dropping back to pass, maybe some bootlegs
26:25and throwing the ball downfield.
26:26One wildcard thought.
26:28I'm excited for this London crowd, Germany.
26:31I'll tell you, that was the best crowd I have ever been a part of.
26:34And this goes from covering high school basketball games to college football, to the NBA finals,
26:40to obviously plenty of Patriots games by now.
26:43It was so locked into a garbage 10 and six game against the Colts, but singing songs
26:50through first down, second down coming back from commercial break.
26:53I hope London and Wembley is much bigger than I think it was 40,000 person stadium in Frankfurt
26:58brings the same type of energy.
26:59There are a lot of Patriots fans here.
27:01They were on my flight.
27:02There are flights from other media members that are here, like Doug and Mark Daniels
27:05and Chris Mason and Mike Reese and everybody from the globe.
27:08So you guys are here.
27:09I hope you show out.
27:10I hope everyone has a pint.
27:11It will be a two 30 local kick nine 30 back on the East coast.
27:14And when we are done watching football, I believe this will be a Patriots 24 Jaguars
27:1823 finish.
27:19So there you have it.
27:20Our second international show for Pat's interference.
27:23I will be back earlier early this next week.
27:26I don't know if it'll be Monday night or Tuesday evening.
27:28Either way, you will get a full film breakdown, a little peek ahead to the Jets game when
27:32I see you next cheerio.
27:34So make a little history here in the pot.
27:36We have our first returning guests to the four minute drill.
27:38Pop Douglas is the talk of the town right now.
27:40His first touchdown.
27:41We are going to get to that right off the top.
27:43Start the clock right now.
27:45Okay, pop the most random person to text you after that touchdown on Sunday.
27:51Most random person.
27:54I don't know.
27:55I was expecting a lot of people.
27:58I honestly don't know this one.
27:59I honestly, we got to go fast.
28:01I don't know.
28:02Okay, we'll circle back and talking to other teammates on the same segment.
28:05Your name has come up a lot, specifically when I ask who's the teammate you would least
28:09like to date your sister.
28:10Let's give Pop Douglas a chance to defend himself and pitch himself.
28:15If that ever, that opportunity ever arose.
28:17Uh, I don't think, I think I'm the perfect person, you know, to date their sister.
28:23But if I had to pick somebody on our team.
28:25No, no, no.
28:25You got to, you got to defend yourself.
28:26Why, why should they feel okay with you dating their sisters?
28:29Cause I'm cool, collected.
28:30I'm, you feel me?
28:31I'm always laughing and did not, I'm put a smile on your sister face.
28:35So, I mean, Hey, I'm here, I'm here and I'm, and I was raised by ladies.
28:38So I'm not too late.
28:39All right, very good.
28:40What's a receiver in the league you like watching the most when you're looking at tape from
28:44other teams?
28:45Uh, Tyreek, uh, Tyreek Hill, man, it's, it's received on every team, honestly.
28:51All right.
28:51There it is.
28:52Uh, another name that has come up when I ask, okay, who's doing the most talking on the
28:56field?
28:56Pop Douglas, your teammates keep naming you.
28:58What does Pop Douglas sound like on the field when he's talking a little smack?
29:02I do not, I do not talk smack, but I mean, I don't really, I don't really say no.
29:06I let my plan do the talking.
29:08All right.
29:08There it is.
29:09Uh, has Pop Douglas ever cried while watching a movie?
29:11And if so, what movie?
29:13No, I never cried.
29:14I might've got teary eyed, but I never, I never cried.
29:16It never came out.
29:17Well, when'd you get teary eyed?
29:19Um, let me see, you know, uh, it'd be movies that, you know, people, let's see what movie,
29:25not gridiron game.
29:26That was a good one.
29:27Oh, gridiron, gridiron game.
29:28You know, you get, uh, teary eyed.
29:30If y'all watched that football movie, they was in jail and they were close with each
29:33other.
29:34And I mean, it was against, they was on opposite, uh, whatever games, there was opposite games,
29:40but you know, the, the detention that it was in, they had to be on the same team and
29:44then they got close together and then he ended up getting shot on the field.
29:47And then, yeah, they, that was, that was crazy.
29:50Wow.
29:50That sounds like a surprise ending.
29:51Uh, moving back to actual football, we're hopefully don't get shot.
29:54What was the hardest hit you've ever taken?
29:56Who was it?
29:57When was the game and what happened next?
29:59Um, probably, uh, uh, with 49ers this year, uh, Fred Warren, I was going through the middle
30:06and I saw Fred Warren, I was looking straight at me and he just hit me.
30:09I mean, it didn't hurt, but I was probably the hardest I've been hit though.
30:13See any stars?
30:14Uh, no, I didn't see no stars.
30:15I didn't see any stars.
30:16All right.
30:16We got about 90 seconds left.
30:17Uh, there's some heated competition I've heard in the game room.
30:20NCAA football.
30:21I know you're playing on there.
30:23Give me the three best players in the locker room when it comes to being on the sticks for
30:27NCAA.
30:28Me, me.
30:30Okay.
30:30Me, Keyshawn.
30:32I say Keyshawn booty.
30:35Uh, let's see.
30:36Oh, Baltimore.
30:37Baltimore.
30:37Baltimore.
30:38Y'all playing with your same alums, a little Liberty, LSU, Mamma.
30:42Uh, no, I can't do that.
30:43I couldn't do that.
30:44I was cheating.
30:44They, they got, no, I can't do that.
30:46All right.
30:46One minute left.
30:47Give me a Drake play that most impressed you.
30:49It could have been in practice.
30:50It could have been a game.
30:50Just something you go.
30:52Oh yeah.
30:52Um, before to have, uh, the ball to Keyshawn booty, that was a, uh, great play and a great
30:58time.
31:00All right.
31:00Cheat day.
31:01You get to eat whatever you want all day.
31:02What's pop Douglas gorging on cheeseburger pizza.
31:06I mean, I still eat that.
31:08So, I mean, it's a cheat day.
31:10If I cheat day, it has to be something healthy.
31:13So every day is cheat day for pop Douglas, man.
31:15I wish I could look like you and have every day be cheat day.
31:18All right.
31:18Uh, one more we've got right here.
31:22I think that actually might've been it.
31:23You can answer to every single thing.
31:24Oh, we'll do the same thing.
31:26Uh, what's your favorite media question?
31:28Well, last time we had John, we asked you about your least favorite media question.
31:30What's your favorite media question?
31:31Uh, favorite media question.
31:32Um, oh, something about my touchdown.
31:37Something with the touchdown.
31:38Uh, that's my favorite media question so far now with a touchdown.
31:43Um, my first touchdown.
31:44How does it feel to have my first touchdown?
31:46Perfect.
31:47Right on the clock.
31:47Four minute drill is over.
31:48Something about the touchdown.
31:49Hey, you keep scoring them.
31:50We'll keep asking, man.
31:51Appreciate you.
