00:20that Will may be experiencing currently after the performance last night.

00:44I felt it. I felt the energy from you. I felt the energy from the Jets. It's about to turn.
00:48It did turn. In the wrong direction. Or it continued to go
00:52in the bad direction, but now it's only worse. They lose 37
00:56to 15, Will. And just some of the stuff that came out
01:00after the game. Never mind what I saw with my eyes during the game.
01:04Aaron saying, I need to play better.
01:08Garrett Wilson says, I'm playing like shit.
01:12And then, of course, the comments about energy, which came from a lot of
01:16different places in the locker room. The energy just wasn't there.
01:20Is it broken at 2-5?
01:24They're very close.
01:28I think we went from...
01:32The promise is a couple of things. One, what's been the weirdest part about the Jets
01:36season is that there's so many flashes of what it can
01:40be, what it has been, what it will be. All these different things.
01:44And there's always a different... It feels like each week there's a different person
01:48or a different thing that goes wrong. They just so rarely outside of the New England game
01:52have looked... They have not played a four quarters worth of just
01:56really good football on both sides of the ball. All three sides of the
02:00ball, honestly. The special teams has been horrible all year.
02:04It's a huge pain point. We don't talk enough about it because it's not
02:08making fun of Aaron Rodgers and all that stuff. And I get it. It doesn't do well nationally.
02:12But Greg Zerline's been the worst kicker in football. I know you can't convince me
02:16otherwise. Every kick gets blocked or he misses it. They have not returned a kick anywhere
02:20near the 30 yard line. These rules are literally
02:24benefit you to just not return it. As much as they've
02:28tried to make you return it, the smart play is if you can, don't
02:32return the ball. And you'll get the ball at the 30 yard line. Two first downs and all of a sudden
02:36you're talking, do we go for it on fourth down? The special teams was also awful
02:40last night. I thought Rodgers played really bad for his standard.
02:44I don't think he's been bad all year. I think the narrative has been peddled he's been horrible
02:48all year. It's simply not true. It's people that are looking to jump on
02:52it. I thought last night, I thought
02:56mostly of the Minnesota game and I thought the Tennessee
03:00game, he was not good. Generally speaking, he has
03:04nice throws in every one of these games. But generally speaking, he's not Rodgers what we expect.
03:08I thought New England, he was amazing. The Buffalo, he's honestly really good.
03:12I thought at times in San Francisco, all things considered, he actually looked pretty
03:16decent. The Denver game was a mess all around
03:20from the entire team. Mike, I think the
03:24biggest issue right now is everyone on defense is hurt and they're not playing well on
03:28defense. Their numbers aren't bad, but they're not playing well.
03:32Offensively, every single play, 10 of the 11 guys do something right.
03:36There's always one guy that does something wrong and it's
03:40crippling them. It's perfect play lined up. I think the
03:44encapsulation of yesterday, I'll get to the Gary Wilson reception quickly before we move on
03:48to the Steelers in a second because I think the reaction of the Steelers has been
03:52asinine. Russell Wilson was terrible last night. I don't know why anyone's telling you he was good.
03:56He wasn't terrible, but he was not good and I think
04:00don't allow George Pickens being a superstar jump ball guy to confuse you with
04:04good quarterback play. Jets on third down.
04:08I believe it was third and four on their own side of the ball, but
04:12I would have gone for it, but it doesn't matter. Perfect play
04:16drawn up. The Steelers are playing
04:20form a match zone. Jets got exactly what they wanted.
04:24The middle of the field opens up like a C
04:28and Devante Adams is wide open on a drive right across
04:32the middle of the field. Roger sees it. He waits. He's hanging in the pocket
04:36and you see it going completely. What just happened?
04:40Tyron Smith, who I I know guys get old quick
04:44in the NFL, but like I just unfortunate Tyron didn't look like this
04:48early on and I didn't look like this in camp, but he I don't know. Maybe it's
04:52that really tough schedule early on and. The London trip and I even had
04:56the pie and all that stuff, but like his legs he just is not moving well and
05:00he gets beat by outside Smith. He rushes Rogers and like that's a 70 yard touchdown
05:04walk in touch and debate about they even at 3231 is scoring and it's
05:08that and the obviously the biggest play of the game
05:12the Rogers interception before the half was crazy because 15
05:16six the Jets are steamrolling. Pittsburgh right now. I mean they are
05:20the second quarter was a master class and Roger starting look much
05:24better. You know Garrett should have kept it more vertical. He didn't
05:28but Roger still, you know great interception and.
05:32The next play next driver two drives later they come out. It's 15
05:3613 and perfect play drawn up Garrett in the slot. He's running a wheel route
05:40wide open Rogers hits from the chest. Not only is it like
05:44it would have been an easy touchdown if he makes one cut. He
05:48not only did he drop it, it bounced off his chest into the air 800 feet
05:52up and then you know it doesn't even. Not only does it just like you know Dan, they give up three
05:56there. They give away three. You know they give away a touchdown. The game
06:00just totally spawned. The whole thing was just so frustrating because.
06:04The last two weeks in particular, really the last four weeks
06:08strong argument can be made there. They're just should have won all four games like.
06:12There's a much better argument you can make right now that they should be more like six and
06:16one and two and five and the way the NFL works there. You know the Jets are
06:20losing every one score game and then last night turned out to be a blowout so
06:24I thought Pittsburgh you know is who they thought they were. I think they're a well
06:28coached team. You know overall I think they have a good mentality about them.
06:32I still think offensively they're not coach well coach so I don't. I've never understood the
06:36Arthur Smith type. I thought he had the really one nice year during COVID.
06:40You know when it's really easy to look good when Derek Henry and AJ Brown are your two best players
06:44there this season when you know there's no fans.
06:48I don't get it and I thought you know I don't. Russ was just really not
06:52very good. I think there's dealers offensive lines a problem. I don't think you know.
06:56TJ Watt didn't impact the game at all came hate like and yet they won by 20
07:00plus points and they're five and two and you know Steelers fans are probably feeling good like
07:04hey man like you know we haven't played in the division yet but we could probably win 10 games 11 games this year
07:08and get in the playoffs so. It's just I don't know. I've been really
07:12frustrated and I think if the Jets lose this week their seasons coked in you know
07:16and if you especially if you listen to England who were to talk about is just
07:20objectively horrible. I was going to say luckily for the Jets they have the
07:24opponent that everyone including probably Tennessee two weeks from now circles on their schedule
07:28because it's a chance to get right and that would be the New England Patriots.
07:32I'm glad you mentioned the Russell Wilson thing because
07:36I think it was the second jump ball that he threw to Pickens where he literally under
07:40threw him probably by three yards. It hit Isaiah Oliver bounced in the head and then
07:44it was yeah. I mean like whatever
07:48that had nothing to do with Russ right that was Pickens
07:52who we know has the physical ability to be an elite receiver or
07:56really damn good one but he has the mentality that he drifts in and out and
08:00he's drifted in and out for the entirety of his career so far and he'll
08:04some will end up paying him money and probably regret it because I just
08:08he doesn't have the maturity and there's a reason why he went in the second round and not the first with
08:12the physical talent he had but the Steelers do just
08:16there's a belief that Mike's going to put him in the right place
08:20and there is this culture that they have there that has
08:24lasted for decades upon decades you know there are three head coaches
08:28as I'm sure you're really pleased with the open
08:32last night with Michael Keaton.
08:36I had to wheel this one right into you.
08:40In all seriousness and I know a lot of people that listen to the show are Pats fans and probably like
08:44the Jets whatever I don't get it like I actually I truly and that's a conversation
08:48we'll do in the offseason I think I'm cold running it by Mike we'll do a rebuild
08:52each franchise or what these for you know an offseason preview each team and all that stuff
08:56I don't get I've never understood the like a lot
09:00of Jet stuff's funny at times like with the butt fumble like look Mark Sanchez
09:04little bit fumbled by running into their own teammates but in the Patriots won by 40 points like that's
09:08funny like I objectively I get it the Michael Keaton thing was
09:12like just felt so out of bounds for no reason where like
09:16it didn't like I don't know I
09:20just I thought that was so no you know what you want to say is that
09:24if I'm Woody Johnson and I'm the Jets and the next
09:28time football night in America comes rolling around I give him the middle finger but not
09:32that you can say we're not we don't want to be on Sunday night football but I'm saying I'm not
09:36giving you yeah what I get access sorry right you guys you guys thought
09:40it would be cool to roll Michael Keaton out there and again like you said there are plenty of people are watching
09:44this not even a top two Batman like get out of here buddy

09:52couldn't I saw you tweet last night no I just I'm telling you like I think any
09:56fan base and I think it's funny when it's you know it's not towards you and again it's
10:00I'm like I get it the Jets thing is whatever but like I don't think any past fan wants to
10:04sit on watch Bill Belichick go on McAfee and like and we'll get to in a second but you know
10:08sit there and just shred them pretend that like none of this is your fault like right yeah the Jets
10:12have a lot of parts to play and why they're made fun of their way they are Aaron gets on it he does
10:16because if he brings it on himself and hopefully for the Jets sake they turn around and they beat New England and Houston
10:20and all of a sudden they're four and five and they're going to Arizona and Indian like season
10:24turns around it'll be a great story you know every year the last four years a team that started two
10:28and five and the Jets have the easiest schedule in the league remaining all that stuff's true
10:32but I just I don't know I didn't
10:36sit right with me it doesn't sit right with me the way Bill's handling stuff it doesn't sit right with me the way
10:40these some of these organizations right now are like handling stuff or people that are
10:44how these gripes with different organizations are handling themselves it's
10:48just very odd behavior and I don't know I'm not I'm not a fan of it
10:52personally I'm just not yeah I think you're
10:56put a bowl in that game I think you're right I think the Jets have to win the next two
11:00I think if they get a three and one the next four to have a shot yep
11:04I anything less than that is you're just you're asking too much and again you
11:08just gave up a division a conference opponent you just lost a game that
11:12we went in you probably didn't feel like you were going to lose you lost not only lost
11:16but you lost by a fairly lopsided margin they got to get their
11:20bleep together and they got to do it in a hurry or
11:24they put a lot of resources into this football team and
11:28could get absolutely nothing out of it to the next one and you were talking about
11:32getting nothing out of it Patriots jumped out to a 10-0 lead against the
11:36Jacksonville Jaguars in London I almost texted you I was like I said they're going to win two out of three
11:40like I feel great yeah yeah and then it went to hell in a
11:44hurry they get outscored 32-6 to finish the game they lose
11:4832-16 basically the fourth quarter was
11:52a large part of the fourth quarter was garbage time which has been a running theme with this team as they get
11:56these big holes the Texans same thing and then they put up some stats and you go
12:00okay just again to tamp it down a little bit you're getting
12:04smoked when the game matters but I think
12:08well the first thing I want to bring out is the comments right after the game
12:12okay Gerard Mayo comes out and calls his team soft didn't say we're playing
12:16soft he said we have a soft football team someone followed up on it
12:20about the coaching staff and he sort of kind of ducked that question a little bit
12:24and it was brought up again later and he you know he's sort of like I know like I don't
12:28remember what I'm saying here this is what I said oh six hour flight over
12:32the Atlantic Ocean and we spoke with him at nine o'clock this morning
12:36he spoke again on the radio right after and
12:40right after he spoke to the media when he spoke to the radio station
12:44WEI the Greg Hill show that he's contractually obligated to do
12:48he corrected he said
12:52he was asked a question about being soft calling your teammates off are you worried about
12:56wait a minute you know just want to correct this we're playing soft
13:00I don't think we have a soft football team but we're playing soft football right now
13:04can't put the cat back in the bag man you called your team
13:08soft and he was like yeah we got to get some
13:12take a look at it and he's like I didn't say we had to take a look at it and I just said that we have
13:16no you said it no you said it and you can't put it back
13:20and so his point when he was asked about the follow-up would just as it was
13:24in the postgame was to me a tough football team
13:28stops the run runs the football and he threw in special teams
13:32in there his special teams get off to a great start
13:36but had been kind of a disaster but they haven't been great and then they give up
13:40the 96 yard touchdown which really that was pretty much the ball
13:44game right there but run defense run offense the last five
13:48weeks starting with the Jets game 133 yards rushing to the Jets you had
13:5278 49ers 148 to 73
13:56Finns 193 you had 151 in that game but you decided
14:00to pass way more than you should have that was Jacoby's last start
14:04192 to 82 against the Texans and 171
14:0838 against the Jags again some of the
14:12the totals at the end were a little lopsided because
14:16of the game situation but they called 17 runs in a row
14:20the Jags did against the Patriots and 22 of their final 23 offensive
14:24plays they just ran it down your throat and got first downs after first downs
14:28they had an incredible drive that lasted over 11 minutes 17 plays
14:32and they got no points out of because Doug Peterson went with analytics
14:36instead of making it a three score game and they get stuffed on fourth and
14:40one on the five six yard line but they're getting emasculated
14:44they've been getting emasculated they tell us
14:48Jelani Tavai sat there in front of me I said
14:52what about the run defense do you feel like you just don't have enough guys trying to give them an out
14:56hey Barmore's out Bentley's out peppers you know he's on the
15:00commissioners list all these different things and he says no
15:04no we get the guys in the room to do it and you know that week
15:08it was well it's just one play here one play there 10 guys are doing the right thing and one guy is doing
15:12the wrong thing well yesterday it was same run
15:16same place over and over and over again
15:20they couldn't stop it the coaches couldn't adjust to it hey maybe bring the safety up
15:24in the box maybe bring the linebackers a little closer do something because what you're doing
15:28is not working couldn't do it so Gerrard is right
15:32they are soft but he's created now a whole other
15:36problem right Will because now he's tried to walk it back so he's called his guys out
15:40publicly and now he's trying to takes the fishing hook and he's reeling it back
15:44in nope you can't do it and this is the thing I wrote about it
15:48for Boston Sports Journal we're taping this Monday at about 5 o'clock I wrote it
15:52after Mayo got done talking with us here on Monday morning
15:56it's happened over and over again his messaging has been so bad
16:00he is I have never honestly I covered a lot of
16:04different sports for 25 years in this market I can never remember
16:08a coach having said something and then within a day or two
16:12having to take it back as much as Gerrard Mayo has done in what has only
16:16been what he's been the head coach for 7-8 months and only real football since
16:20well for being real only real football since July but from
16:24you know we're going to spend all the money we're going to blow through
16:28cash to I'm no Matthew I can speak out on this
16:32now we're going to take a quarterback right just every
16:36it's I'm telling you it's if it's I listed four or five things that happen
16:40there's five or six other things that happen over the course of the year he's created
16:44a massive problem we're now like
16:48jets come into Foxboro and blow you out I'm not saying he's getting fired
16:52because it's probably that's unfair too early
16:56to pull the plug sort of thing but one of the guys in the locker room
17:00who now called soft which is probably about as bad a thing as you
17:04can be called as a football player and especially a professional
17:08football player I'm curious your take from
17:12the outside looking in it just it feels like as much as we knew
17:16this roster sucked and this was a rebuild that he is creating
17:20more problems for this football team
17:24between his actions his words I mean hey you know we're going to change the
17:28lineup a little bit Jalen Polk's in the game on the fourth play and has
17:32as targeted right away like there's just there's a lot of things that don't make a lot of
17:36sense and they're one in six and it feels like they're spiraling yeah there's
17:40a couple things that you hit on most of the stuff I was going to hit on I'll just sit on the mail point quickly
17:44before we move on is like a couple of things one
17:48I felt like there was a lot of issues last year with New England in terms
17:52of the I don't know how much I say that there was a lot
17:56of I think butting of heads a little bit internally of
18:00Belichick and Mayo at points whether it's
18:04massive you're not there massive problems behind the scenes last year
18:08and I don't know how much I want to hit on it but there was no I've said I've said it in
18:12other places we haven't been doing the podcast long enough that we got into that but like
18:16I've said all along these are my guys and that
18:20Gerard plays a part in sort of the unraveling of last season
18:24because there was a massive divide and he was acting in one
18:28way while the team was trying to do something else because he knew he was the next guy whenever that was
18:32going to come yeah I think that's a problem I think
18:36you see it in the way it obviously pissed Bill off like let's
18:40not again I said I don't like what Bill's doing because I think he's
18:44defending his guys but I think Bill's trying to be a coach in the league again next year and I just feel
18:48like he's he's being like really really critical and dancing on
18:52their grave a little too much for me for a guy that like is trying to rebuild his images that he's
18:56not this guy and he's kind of still doing it it's fine like wait a minute though he feels really
19:00he feels really bad for those guys he's sad for those guys that they're they're being called
19:04soft by their coach I mean you want to I wanted to vomit
19:08when I saw that because you want to talk about someone who just doesn't like Kyle
19:12Duggar for instance would not be on this football team if Bill Belichick was still the head coach ask
19:16Kyle Duggar last year how he felt about his contract talks and where they went last year
19:20and how he got treated and now he's one of Bill's guys you know I think
19:24gosh I mean nobody works harder than Kyle Duggar all right easy Bill yeah no
19:28that that part's annoying but I think going into the year I've said this probably
19:32on I don't know six of our eight I guess six or seven recap
19:36of the of of game weeks is like quarterback
19:40and coach and I feel really good about where Drake Mays at I don't think
19:44he's been excellent I think he's been good fine to good
19:48and I think considering the pieces he has and what's around him
19:52he probably falls in his he's been good like his stat line looks good which is fine but like
19:56you know there's a lot there's a lot of positives there where you feel like hey we've refined this we've
20:00refined this we add some piece on the offensive line we're going to add some stuff here
20:04like there's a lot to take away even just from two starts now
20:08like there is again I think it's not going to get really any easier but I don't necessarily
20:12know it's going to phase Drake like I I if I'm a Patriots fan like that's the one thing
20:16I feel good about right now I honestly don't really feel good about anything else because
20:20even some of the young guys that I was actually really excited like I don't know I'm not saying Christian
20:24Gonzalez hasn't been good but he certainly was better last year in my opinion in that short sample
20:28size you know it's a shame guys like bar more and you know it's after the
20:32year and then different things like that I was really high on Jalen Polk
20:36um stay up dude you gotta stay
20:40up like no offense you have done nothing in this league and I I like Jalen Polk a lot and I think
20:44he's he's gonna figure it out but like easy
20:48easy Instagram that's when it was like 10
20:52games in and he's like posting like ridiculous stuff on
20:56like are we you're really you're already you're requesting
21:00a trade already like I know that he did that I'm just my pointing I'm really concerned about
21:04my coach like I genuinely what is
21:08the thing they do well like that's that's where I go back
21:12to like you know with some of these young coaches and guys early on usually you look
21:16for like even if I look at I'll use Robert saw as the example right like Robert
21:20saw came in like year one they were a disaster
21:24for sure but they had no talent and like it was and I guess you could use that Patriots example
21:28but Gerard's been there for a while so he's got a pulse of especially defensively
21:32what this roster looks like you know a lot of these are his guys in a lot of senses right like
21:36and you know eventually Sal is like all right we're gonna the
21:40where our staples can be our defense gonna be awesome I'm gonna rush with four and like you really start to see an identity
21:44um I don't what's the Patriots and it's like
21:48the biggest quote to me yesterday that stood out and we can wrap on the Patriots game on this is like
21:52Chris Rose and I believe Joe Thomas who were announced in the game

22:32Patriots fans will probably feel really good about that and say like hey man Drake May isn't gonna throw 30 picks as a rookie

23:32you're the coach you're establishing a culture in year one that's on you

23:52So that's just to me I think the biggest takeaway right now is like
23:56there's some things to be excited about but it's mostly on the quarterback which is a good thing
24:00everything else serious look in the mirror time because there's still
24:0411 weeks left in the season they gotta figure it out. Yeah my final point on this
24:08would be I came in thinking develop the kids but
24:12obviously the primary goal of the season in that regard is Drake and hoping that
24:16you had the guy which again after two weeks it's too early to say
24:20but good start for him and the other part of this equation
24:24because again we knew the roster wasn't good we knew this was a 3-6
24:28win you know if they hit it right maybe 6 wins if they didn't
24:322-3 right 3 I never thought 2 or 1 but
24:36here we are but the other part was can the coaches coach?
24:40You went from Belichick to Mayo I knew there would be growing pains
24:44look to your point if you establish what you are and you see
24:48some improvement there's been no improvement they played their best game in their
24:52first game they played their second game and with the exception
24:56of that Miami game which again
25:00was a wretched football game so it was a close game but it was
25:04a wretched football game poorly played by both teams both teams should have been launched to the moon after that game
25:08they have gotten worse and worse and worse and they
25:12made the switch to May and you're thinking to yourself alright well this is Gerard saying
25:16look we're good enough that if this guy gives us a little spark
25:20we're going to get some wins here you've been beat back to back weeks by 20
25:24and 16 points after making the switch to Drake
25:28not Drake's fault not entirely some of the turnovers and what not

29:04quarterback but it feels like he's even elevated his pocket presence
29:08to the point where he's doing things that I think that's a four game
29:12stretch now he's completed 83% of his passes which is the greatest four game stretch
29:16in NFL history in terms of completion percentage so he's just he's cooking
29:20and they're clicking and they're riding that that sort of wave of Jerry Goff right now
29:24yeah a couple things I I think I
29:28leave more encouraged about Minnesota out of this game than Detroit
29:32because I think I'm pretty sure I Detroit is the one seed and I know a lot of the
29:36talk was how do they work without Hutch and I think
29:40you know I think maybe they had they do maybe have more serious converse I mean there's a lot of
29:44miles Garrett converse like there's there's some addressers out there that they can maybe go
29:48get before the deadline if they need to
29:52which you brought up it makes more and more sense to me makes more and more sense to me the Garrett
29:56thing is really affordable too and Cleveland's a disaster if they don't want to pay him more cash
30:00right if he comes back the next two weeks and the Jets totally blow it but he looks good
30:04maybe the Lions are more inclined to take him on because it's a one-year mercenary

30:12don't worry about that and again we talked about Brad Holmes and his ability to come from that tree
30:16and if he needs to go do it he'll go do it Detroit's
30:20been impressive golf's been awesome like I nothing about Detroit right now is like
30:24surprising at all they're one of the best run organizations in football at the moment they're one of the best
30:28coach teams in the moment they're going to lose a lot of these guys this year but they got to go
30:32you know run it back and it's working out so
30:36great win for Detroit I'm not poo-pooing it at all if I'm a
30:40Minnesota Vikings fan I feel pretty good I don't feel like I played my A game
30:44I feel like I went against the best team probably in the league that's I don't know I think Detroit's
30:48better than Kansas City until just the way they've been playing I know Kansas City's undefeated
30:52we'll get to that we can hit on Mahomes
30:56if you're going to flop and you're going to get every call if you're deking guys pretend you're going to go
31:00out of bounds and then you don't do it that's got to get somehow they got to get that
31:04fixed there's a league I you know you can either you're either ball carrier or not
31:08but if I'm a Vikings fan the reason I feel good is because
31:12didn't play my A game felt like I had a shot there to win it

31:20avoided danger one or two times but overall was pretty decent the
31:24interception by Brian Branch is a special player I'm not going to forget
31:28still ridiculous but like you're close to getting
31:32Hock back you played one of your three hardest games of the
31:36year and you lost on the last second field goal I don't know I just feel like to me
31:40Minnesota looks like a playoff team still and that to me is
31:44a good question I felt like the last couple weeks it was getting like it's like ooh it's kind of
31:48you know we're starting to see a dip and we saw a dip and they finally lost but
31:52like I also don't feel like it's a that's a good loss
31:56like I don't know maybe I'm overselling yeah I don't
32:00think Detroit's awesome in Minnesota looks like a playoff team like that's it looked like two playoff teams playing
32:04each other in a really good game I think Sam Donald's
32:08going to be in the spotlight every single week and I think again as quarterback rating was over
32:12if you're into the quarterback rating thing I think it's been every game this year
32:16he struggles a little bit out of structure at times not that he can't
32:20make the throws not that he's not a good enough athlete but he's not
32:24turning a scramble into a 15 yard run it's a four yard run those sorts of
32:28things but I think that's going to be the thing I think everyone's going to look at that
32:32and say we know our defense even if it
32:36Flores has more guys on his defense than he had last year
32:40I still think their secondary is a problem you know
32:44their best guys are still older and it's like asking them to go
32:4820 weeks with Gilmore and Harrison Smith being your guys is like
32:52asking a lot I'll be curious you talk about trade possibilities
32:56two weeks away from the deadline I'm curious if they dip their toes in the water
33:00again short term probably rental type guys just lose the next two
33:04I'm calling the Jets and saying take our second round pick for DJ Reed

33:12the Jets are going to lose the next two and I don't think they'll move them but that's the type of guy that if you're the Vikings

34:24fantastic game yesterday that again was not like the first two games that we talked about

34:40both agree C.J. Stroud and Jordan Love are both terrific players
34:44young guys Stroud's younger than Love because Love obviously spent the first three years

34:52played what 20 games 20 whatever it is 25 games 28 games something
34:56like that but Stroud
35:00Stroud and you've talked about this and last week was the
35:04he was back to being himself because of course he was playing the get right game against the
35:08Patriots and he throws three touchdowns
35:1286 yards passing 10 completions tying his career low
35:16which happened to be set against a good Jets defense a year ago
35:20and I didn't think he played that bad
35:24I don't they're not protecting him for squat I think the Bobby
35:28stuff that we were on in this with this pod before the season started
35:32I think continues to show itself like this was a guy who interviewed
35:36for five head coaching jobs is probably going to be in the cycle and get a
35:40coaching job if they make the playoffs and you know this thing doesn't just crater and
35:44I don't know that that's he's not going to be the Jets head coach oh baby
35:48sorry that that wouldn't I don't that would not go well for you
35:52just going to say that right now he he hasn't proven enough
35:56you know three second half points punted I think three or four possessions
36:00uh and credit to the Packers and Jeff Halfley for the job he's doing because I've
36:04been a little dubious about that but they are really really
36:08struggling and I know again I know Nico's out and there's all these qualifiers
36:12I keep putting in as I try to finish sentences but like they've got to fix
36:16some stuff there and I don't know if you can fix that offensive line the way
36:20it needs to be fixed against good opponents and Green Bay is a good opponent New England
36:24not a good opponent and and be the kind of team that a lot
36:28of people felt like they could be going into the season
36:32I said this was strat I think
36:36strats a top five guy I'm not not saying he's not
36:40but if you remove I thought week one
36:44week two he was good but got away with some stuff at times I feel like he made some
36:48really special here on the spot there was two it got called back from a penalty
36:52one was called out of bounds whatever since then you know seven touchdowns six
36:56turnovers four from being interceptions he's had two sub 70 quarterback rating games
37:00um both their losses he's you know combined you know what
37:0430 for uh 62 you know one touchdown
37:08no two picks like it's not about him not being awesome
37:12I just like we're not we don't talk at all about
37:16he's still in the arc where like his his career arc where we don't ever talk about the bad games we only talk about
37:20the good games I think Houston's a really good team I thought D'Amico totally

37:32and like I don't know Joe Mixon's been really good this year like way
37:36better than I think any of us thought he was gonna be and um
37:40yeah I thought this was again more about maybe more about Green Bay just being really
37:44good and like getting way better defensively Jordan loves just Brett Favre man
37:48like he just he is like every every game is insane it's 350 yards
37:52four touchdowns four picks and like you roll with it where Stroud's
37:56a little bit more cautious but he's you know a little bit they're different players like I'm not
38:00you know obviously I'll put you on the spot right here because I think it's a good it's just kind of a funny
38:04side topic or an interesting side topic if you were forget about the age
38:08because I mean they're still boys we mentioned they're both still young you had to pick one of them
38:12Jordan or CJ uh I'd still pick CJ just based on the
38:16fact that I really didn't like Jordan Love coming out of college and like I still

38:24live in the moment of what we saw in the first three years I thought he was just like when he
38:28played a little bit it was like really concerning but like it's a lot
38:32closer than I think I I think Jordan's a top 10 guy
38:36and CJ like he's hovering in that like 6 to 10 range right
38:40I don't know is it a crazy comp sometimes I watch him and
38:44some of the throws that he's willing to attempt yeah and you mentioned there's a there's
38:48a good variance there he's through two picks again he's thrown I think he's thrown a pick in
38:52five straight games um Matthew
38:56Stafford yep a little bit like just yeah absolutely
39:00you know the the the Mel Kiper get rid of cover too like no Jordan Love
39:04doesn't care about your cover too Jordan Love will take your cover too he will put he
39:08will put the ball like he thinks he can put it wherever he wants yeah
39:12and plenty of times he does and then there's a few occasions where he doesn't and he's
39:16he pays the price for it but Stroud's like a little is like I think
39:20more a little more talented deck in my
39:24opinion that's a pretty good one not an elite athlete but a good enough athlete
39:28to break pressure to be able to make plays with his legs but like they're never gonna like
39:32they're not you know it's not Lamar
39:36and even I don't know maybe not even a Jordan Love maybe to that extent but like super
39:40accurate not gonna turn the football over a ton but still gonna have a couple of decisions where you're like what were you
39:44doing um I don't think like Jordan Love is like
39:48Rogers at all I think he has a lot of the Rogers like mannerisms in terms of like
39:52what he throws being around him but he's much more far than that sensor Stafford's a good one
39:56too it's funny Stroud's you know Straff Stafford's his favorite guy but he plays
40:00nothing right nothing at all um no the one thing I just
40:04the one thing I worry about with Houston is like and I think we said this is like this is schedule
40:08and I still think they're really awesome I just don't know that they're I haven't
40:12seen enough yet still to put them hand in hand
40:16with Kansas City and probably Baltimore I think they're like
40:20in that class with Buffalo where like they're really good
40:24still and their quarterback's really good and their coaches at times really
40:28good D'Amico's awesome like I'm not yeah I just worry a little bit
40:32he's still learning too I worry a little bit there's only a few mistakes or a few
40:36points where I'm like oh okay it wasn't great like I'm not ready to put you
40:40quite there yet right the one thing I didn't talk about and and I thought
40:44the digs have been mostly quiet this year in terms of just in general he doesn't I don't
40:48feel like he's been a problem and I
40:52appreciate the self-awareness you know oh I'm not I'm never the bigger person
40:56there I just still worry a little bit with digs where like
41:00is there going to be a game this year where someone gets under
41:04his skin and it's whether it's internally on the sideline
41:08and it boils over which is what we've seen in the past especially against Cincinnati
41:12in years past or is it a flag is it something that just like cost
41:16them a game at some point or cost the relationship that he like just can't
41:20like dude just like
41:24I get triggered by people all the time too I had to literally put my
41:28phone down and stare at the ceiling last night because I couldn't like I couldn't deal with the
41:32text and tweets and different things I was getting but like I just one
41:36time on my staff just like buddy reel it in
41:40I would even take it I would take it even further and again he's been he's been
41:44a never mind the pregame dust up with
41:48David McKinney and whatnot but like
41:52I still wonder week twelve week thirteen
41:56it's a couple games where he's been targeted two or three times yeah he's not a big part
42:00of the plan if he's not like I'm Steph Dix
42:04but you gotta give me the ball and you know his numbers are
42:08fine his numbers are fine
42:12he's been fine he's been he's been a nice addition like
42:16they didn't skip a beat when they came to New England to get right game and he he lit him
42:20up like he did a good job like he's a good player still like he gets 68 targets
42:24a week and like if he's okay with that that's great but like you know
42:28I just don't I don't know if that number dips if he's gonna be okay with it
42:32it's also inflated right now because Nico Collins isn't playing you know
42:36I'm saying he says he's all about winning but in December rolls around and if he has a couple games
42:40where he's just not the guy not I'm not as involved as he thinks he should be
42:44then I think that'll be the problem put a wrapper on this one though from a pack
42:48perspective I mentioned
42:52the job that that defense is doing McKinney's been a great ad for them
42:56he seems to have Jair Alexander when he's been on the field playing focused
43:00which was a problem for him last year he had some weird
43:04things last year that happened including going out for a coin toss in which he wasn't a captain
43:08pass rush has been pretty good like that that's
43:12he's getting more out of a defense of what is it seven
43:16first round picks on the defense I think you know he's getting much more out of
43:20them than Joe Barry ever did and that's that's a pretty good place
43:24to go because there's no there's never been any denying that there's
43:28some really good athletes on that side of the ball they just haven't always played good football
43:32and he's got to play better football yeah
43:36yeah I don't know hesitation what do you got no I just no I'm just
43:40thinking myself like I just the NFC North so awesome
43:44I don't know how to list the like they're just it's so fun to watch right now
43:48they have quarterback generally all figured out coach
43:52you know one coach to the four I think it's the question mark
43:56Chicago I think one quarterback in Minnesota's maybe quite but like I don't know like
44:00this division's going to be really damn good it reminds you a little bit of
44:04solar horses here but like a little NFC West
44:08ish in that late you know late 20 you know 2000s early 2010s
44:12where it was like even the bad teams
44:16were like pretty it could be anybody right like yeah the Rams weren't
44:20good down but like man I didn't want to go play the Rams you know that the line and different
44:24thing like I don't know they're just good
44:28it's a it's a bloodbath and I get that that division could come down the last
44:32weekend it could be it could be three teams competing for the
44:36division title when you get down to the end before we wrap this up and we're going

47:00things one shamelessly and I'll say it
47:04I was enjoying Deshaun Watson being bad at football and the reason and because of all the stuff he's gone
47:08through and the stuff we've all witnessed with him there was nothing more
47:12satisfying than being like not because of injury not because of team or coach
47:16or any reason they just he just sucks
47:20and it was like this is the football gods getting it right for once of like
47:24this is a bad guy and karma is it
47:28I didn't enjoy watching him get hurt yesterday I'll be honest it's like
47:32it's a shame and it sucks and I don't want to see anyone get hurt right I just I don't
47:36that's just not that's not how I am and I can't blame people for feeling differently I don't know
47:40when Brady got hurt in 2008 I wasn't cheering it I was like that sucks I wanted to try
47:44to beat Tom Brady and like it's so much more gratifying and maybe I'm an idiot
47:48because most fans or most people feel very different right you want to play the worst possible
47:52team every week and win 100 to nothing
47:56I just the whole like the fans are wrong the fans you know
48:00the fans are going to be fans that's just what people do and they're short for fanatics
48:04keep thinking like one you'll end up sitting up with the fans right that's the whole mantra
48:08this is the window for Cleveland you know cat number 72 million
48:12for the next two years each year which is just insane it's like a
48:16middle tier that'd be a big man salary cat pit but
48:20I think this is they'll probably slow roll
48:24this thing as long as possible and see how much they can you know
48:28get out of this and maybe get the spotlight off them and start to turn things around

48:36and Miles Garrett were the two guys that spoke the loudest
48:40and again I was enjoying Deshaun Watson being bad at football
48:44because of what's going on in the past not watching him get hurt

48:52to the beginning of NFL career to just what's transpired the last four years
48:56it's truly like shocking I remember talking
49:00to so many people when he was coming out of Clemson who couldn't say
49:04enough good man look again you always have to when we do what we do
49:08you always have to have in the back of your brain who benefits you know
49:12if that boat tells you that Deshaun Watson's the greatest kid ever
49:16he could be right he could be telling me the complete truth like I would want
49:20this kid to like he could stay in my house and like he's awesome
49:24100% which I was like hey well you know if Deshaun Watson goes
49:28number one overall that's good for you know he went whatever he went 12th or whatever it was but like
49:32he goes high in the draft that's just another thing I can put on my wall when I go
49:36into somebody's you know living room and try to pitch their kid to come to my school
49:40I can say well we got the first pick in the draft it's you know like you're him you're just like him
49:44you know so but I'm telling you I didn't pick up
49:48one bad thing about the kid one bad thing
49:52and the same thing when he got there that Houston was like you know
49:56it's just guy works his ass off he's a leader
