00:00:00It is caught! Touchdown!
00:00:04The New England Patriots select Drake May.
00:00:08He's got the ball! And that's the ball game!
00:00:12It is Week 15. This is the All 32 pod.
00:00:16Mike Giardi, Will Parkinson alongside, as always,
00:00:20I can't believe it's Week 15. I know we keep saying this every week, and I gotta
00:00:24say, based on the teams that we both cover in our own backyards,
00:00:28the offseason is probably going to be a little bit more fun
00:00:32than what we've gone through during the course of the year. A reminder of the show,
00:00:36brought to you by PrizePix, the exclusive daily fantasy partner of the CLNS Media Network.
00:00:40Game time, best tickets, best prices, to get you in to see any event
00:00:44you want to see. Before we get into some of the games this week,
00:00:48the big news, Bill Belichick. What began
00:00:52as sort of a rumor last week becomes reality.
00:00:56We were taping this on Thursday, just a couple hours after Belichick had his
00:01:00first press conference announcing his hiring at the University of
00:01:04North Carolina. I gotta tell you, when I first heard the news, Will, that there was
00:01:08some contact between the two. I'm like, they're both using each other. Belichick
00:01:12wants to try to prop himself up to NFL teams and say, look guys,
00:01:16I'll go somewhere else. I'll coach in college. I don't care. And North Carolina
00:01:20was saying, man, Bill Belichick's interested in us, people.
00:01:24He's interested in us, so you want to come to our job. Instead, it really does
00:01:28become reality. I guess, just your thoughts on what's happened over the last week
00:01:32or so and the fact that Bill Belichick, at the age of 72, he'll be 73
00:01:36in April, is now the new head coach at North Carolina.
00:01:40Yeah, first off, good to be back.
00:01:44We missed you. I listened. You did a good job. You did a good job.
00:01:48Yeah, a couple of things went from the Bill Belichick side of things.
00:01:52I had been the same way as you maybe a week ago or so when this
00:01:56first came out. Pretty skeptical, obviously, of how serious
00:02:00really Bill was about the job, to be honest with you. I thought North Carolina was like, wow, Bill's
00:02:04going from Mack Brown to Bill Belichick. Look at us, type of
00:02:08thing. They got younger at the position by a year,
00:02:12but barely. I think maybe
00:02:16Tuesday, Monday, Tuesday, maybe, I guess
00:02:20it was Monday. I had some people I know around college football
00:02:24landscapes. A lot of people in North Carolina were told to operate as if Bill was
00:02:28going to be the coach. I was like, okay.
00:02:32I'm not a reporter in that sense. I'm not
00:02:36looking to break stories. I just was like, oh, that's pretty interesting. It's not really what I would have
00:02:40expected. Then I started just doing a little bit of texting people that
00:02:44have been not in Bill's circle, but around the
00:02:48Patriots multiverse, Marvel universe for the better part of 20 years.
00:02:52Everyone's like, I still don't know, but he
00:02:56does want to coach. It doesn't seem like...
00:03:00In my opinion, at least, I was in the mindset of giants or jags.
00:03:04The giants really might not actually fire these guys. That, to me, is what this showed
00:03:08because I think if they were to fire them, Bill Belichick was the obvious. John Mara is like,
00:03:12you lost me, Saquon, and every single other player that's
00:03:16playing really well in the NFL right now, and this is the whole thing.
00:03:20That seemed like that, obviously. As much as they probably should be firing those guys,
00:03:24it doesn't seem like they will. The jags one
00:03:28felt like it was pretty obvious. There was a lot of
00:03:32Florio and a lot of other people reporting it, thank you for what you will,
00:03:36I guess, a couple weeks back. I say all that to say
00:03:40Bill wanted to coach. I think that's 100% accurate.
00:03:44I'm not questioning that at all. I do think
00:03:48there is something to the aspect of how much did Bill
00:03:52want to coach as well as bring all his buddies and set up a job for
00:03:56his kids down the line. That's a little bit what this feels like.
00:04:00Bill going, my NFL legacy is now going to be untarnished. It's
00:04:04over. The Seth Wickersham article comes out. That certainly did not cover
00:04:08any of what Bill is looking for in glory in the NFL
00:04:12at all.
00:04:16It felt like if he does well in college, it's wow,
00:04:20you're the best NFL coach ever, and you're in the class
00:04:24with Pete and Saban and these other guys that have done it at both. If it doesn't go
00:04:28well, it's like, it's a North Carolina job. It's like, hey, I was just doing
00:04:32it because I wanted to make some extra money, and I'm dating a 23-year-old, and
00:04:36all that stuff. Encapsulating this, I don't think
00:04:40I think that there's a chance Bill could be really good at this. I do
00:04:44because he's one of the, if not the best defensive minds we've ever seen
00:04:48in the history of the sport. I know firsthand
00:04:52probably better than anybody, when Bill goes against young quarterbacks,
00:04:56he puts them in an absolute mind
00:05:00death. It's horrible. I watched it with the Jets.
00:05:04I watched it. I think Tool might be the only guy I've seen in the last 10 years that's been a
00:05:08young quarterback that hasn't pooped his pants. I'm thinking to myself,
00:05:12I saw a great tweet earlier that said, Bill Belichick coaching
00:05:16against 90% of kids that will be taking a consulting job at Deloitte
00:05:20six months after playing against him. It's going to be a horrible thing.
00:05:24It's true, and I think that there's a world in which, if he's really going to call the defense
00:05:28and he's going to do these different things, I think he'd be really successful at it. I think there could be a really
00:05:32good, fun program to watch. I think Josh McDaniels
00:05:36could potentially be good for young quarterbacks running a pro-style scheme.
00:05:40As much as he's not a good head coach, I think we've seen him be successful as an offensive coordinator.
00:05:44Maybe North Carolina becomes a place where, hey, it could be a good spot for a quarterback
00:05:48that wants to go into the draft in that kind of J.J. McCarthy
00:05:52mold, what Harbaugh did in Michigan.
00:05:56My big question for this is, one, what's his appetite to recruit
00:06:00and be in the portal constantly?
00:06:04No disrespect to Michael Lombardi, but he's been doing a podcast for a while
00:06:08and we do podcasts, and that's great, but no one's offering either of us jobs
00:06:12to run a major ACC program. I just have my questions
00:06:16about the energy it takes. I think Saban was tapped out. I think these guys
00:06:20get tapped out. Right now, college football might be more difficult
00:06:24than the NFL in terms of the head coach.
00:06:28I know I said a lot there. It's exciting. I think it'll be fun to watch him and Bill O'Brien
00:06:32go at it when they go to Boston College or vice versa.
00:06:36I think Duke North Carolina, they've had some nice players come out of both schools
00:06:40recently in their basketball schools, but maybe that rivalry ramps up a little bit.
00:06:44Maybe Dabo and Bill, the battle of who can say more fluff in a preface.
00:06:48There's legit stuff there.
00:06:52I do have my questions of just, not that Bill's not energetic, and I think
00:06:56Colin Coward made this point. I'll give him credit. He's not Pete Carroll in that fun, exuberant
00:07:00college. That's not the vibe Bill gives. I don't know how you feel, Mike, but I just
00:07:04I'm not necessarily surprised because he wanted to coach. I just think this was
00:07:08the only spot where it was Josh, Patricia,
00:07:12Lombardi, Joe Judge, his kids.
00:07:16I don't think anyone else wanted to sign up for that anymore. Yeah, it's interesting.
00:07:20Just quickly, what I've heard is Ben McDaniels, the passing coordinator
00:07:24with the Texans, more likely to join the staff at North Carolina
00:07:28than Josh is, that Josh maybe still harbors dreams and hopes
00:07:32of being in the NFL. I mean, he could get a job in the NFL, not a head coaching
00:07:36job, but I think a lot of the other things, the pieces that you mentioned
00:07:40certainly are at play here. I want to read something to you that I wrote
00:07:44in Boston Sports Journal this afternoon, and this sort of came to me
00:07:48as I've been thinking about this over the last few days. Bill Belichick
00:07:52is leaving a league that left him first, and I want you
00:07:56to think about that because Bill thought he was getting the Atlanta
00:08:00job last year. Arthur Blank wanted him.
00:08:04He was starting to gather the band
00:08:08all together, like, hey, we'll go down to Atlanta. Yeah, they had the run
00:08:12with Matt Ryan there, but we're going to show them what being a pro football team is all about,
00:08:16build a sustainable program, and bring Arthur something that he wants,
00:08:20and that's the Super Bowl title. And then Rich McKay and Terry
00:08:24Fontenot and other front office types in that building said,
00:08:28what the hell do we want? We don't want Bill here because we know what Bill wants to do. Bill's
00:08:32going to come in here, and Bill's going to take all the power.
00:08:36Yeah, I may still be the general manager,
00:08:40but it's going to be a name only. He's going to tell me what players to sign, what
00:08:44players to get. Rich McKay is going to get squeezed off to the side. You go do your
00:08:48business stuff. You're not involved in the football thing, and when that
00:08:52turned and no one else jumped to the forefront for Bill, he spent
00:08:56the last now 11-ish months evaluating the landscape
00:09:00of the league and realizing that of the jobs that
00:09:04could be available or are, because obviously we know New Orleans
00:09:08is going to conduct a search. Chicago's going to conduct a search.
00:09:12Who am I missing? Who else fired their coach? Well, the Jets. That's not going to happen.
00:09:16But that he looked at all these different openings or potential
00:09:20openings and realized when he did his work, I'm not their
00:09:24first choice. I might not even be their second choice.
00:09:28And why am I, Bill Belichick, with six Super Bowl
00:09:32rings in New England, eight rings is the name of my boat because we apparently
00:09:36put the defensive coordinator rings on that as well, but whatever, I've had this
00:09:40incredible success. My resume is awesome, and you're not going to, you don't
00:09:44want me. You want me to come to you on my hands and knees, sing for my
00:09:48jumper, and I still might not get the job? Well, screw you guys.
00:09:52Basically, to say, Paul Cartman, I'm going home.
00:09:56He's out. As you say, you're not fired, I quit. Yeah, exactly.
00:10:00I think the realization that he couldn't be
00:10:04in that position, the driving force for whatever
00:10:08job he wanted, and then to not only get a job, but then to, as you
00:10:12said, to bring Matt and Steven and Joe Judge and
00:10:16Mike Lombardi, all these people with him,
00:10:20no. I think if plenty of teams, if he had put out the signal that I'm
00:10:24just going to coach, like I'm 72, I'll be 73 in April,
00:10:28I'm cool with the, here's a prototype
00:10:32of players I want. These are some guys at the top of my list. It'd be
00:10:36great if you can go get them for me, but I understand that my job for this team, for
00:10:40however long I'm going to be here, is to just X's and O's and coach them
00:10:44from April until the end of the season, and hopefully the end of the season
00:10:48is February, and you're playing in the Super Bowl, and Bill didn't want to do that.
00:10:52Bill wanted control. Bill wants his ego to be whatever,
00:10:56fed, and when he couldn't come to that, he ended up in college,
00:11:00and I'll say this, I think
00:11:04this is going to re-energize him, because I think he was beaten down by the last couple years in New England,
00:11:08not that he wanted to be fired, not that he didn't want to be in the National Football League,
00:11:12but I think the time away has sort of,
00:11:16not that he ever lost the love for coaching, he still loved all the parts of it, but
00:11:20now it's a new challenge too, and people are saying, I can't do it,
00:11:24Bill will carry the red ass, and he'll have the chip on his shoulder,
00:11:28whatever you want to say, he's going to carry that, and I think it could work. I really do think that it could work,
00:11:32and from the recruiting standpoint, this is something I think,
00:11:36if you look at Deion Sanders, I know Deion got to coaching college
00:11:40before he went to Colorado, and he had to do some of that stuff, but now at Colorado,
00:11:44Deion's not getting on a plane and visiting 14
00:11:48different kids in 12 states over two weeks, no, no, no, no,
00:11:52he sends his people out there, his people say, you know what our draw is?
00:11:56Deion Sanders is our coach, one of the greatest players of all time,
00:12:00do you want to come to our program? He'll let you be you, he'll defend you to the hilt,
00:12:04come here, be coached by an NFL coach, by an NFL player, a Hall of Famer,
00:12:08who brings in guys like Warren Sapp,
00:12:12come here, do this, and I think that's what Bill's going to be, it's just going to be
00:12:16when Matt Patricia or whoever goes to the door of this 18-year-old kid, it's going to be like,
00:12:20what's your selling point? My selling point is great school,
00:12:24and oh yeah, Bill Belichick's our coach, the greatest of all time.
00:12:28I wonder, and we can move on
00:12:32to the games, but I do wonder,
00:12:36when's Gruden take the college job at a better program?
00:12:40Because I think Gruden would be a better college coach
00:12:44potentially than Bill, because first of all, John's offense is going to be
00:12:48a driving force there, and his resume of quarterbacks,
00:12:52while it's not Tom Brady, it's like, hey, I won a Super Bowl
00:12:56with Brad Johnson, and I made Rich
00:13:00gain an MVP after his career was shot, and the whole thing-
00:13:04Gary Carr probably was having his best year. Yeah, and Favre back in the day,
00:13:08and the whole thing. My point being, Gruden's kind of doing a lot of the similar thing
00:13:12of, hey, I don't know if I was likable or not. I think Gruden was very likable,
00:13:16whereas I don't think Bill obviously was. Rebuild the image
00:13:20of Barstool, hey, I'm fun, I'm this fun guy, and I'm the intense,
00:13:24and Bill did the whole thing with McAfee and Underdog and this whole thing.
00:13:28I do wonder if, I don't know if it's USC,
00:13:32I don't know if it's one of these really prestigious programs, or if it's like a UCF or something
00:13:36that has a job open. Do they go, North Carolina went the Bill route?
00:13:40Do we wait a year, or do we try to capitalize now, too, and say
00:13:44this new wave of the college has never been more
00:13:48like the NFL, they got a GM, they have a salary cat, and all those
00:13:52different things. Do we go and do the same thing with Gruden?
00:13:56I wonder if this is a one-time thing, or is
00:14:00this a, I don't know, maybe
00:14:04I don't know, I'm just thinking to myself
00:14:08I'm trying to put myself in those programs shoes and saying, am I watching what unfolds here over the
00:14:12next 12 months with Bill? It's been a strange last year, just when you
00:14:16like, Wick Martindale leaves, he gets fired, but he leaves
00:14:20and he goes to Michigan. Jeff Hafley's a head coach at Boston College, and he
00:14:24jumps to Green Bay to be the defensive coordinator. Chip Kelly
00:14:28says to hell with being the head coach at UCLA, and he
00:14:32actually was angling for a pro job and ends up at Ohio State
00:14:36because the Raiders, for instance, wouldn't let him bring all the people
00:14:40that he wanted to bring to be on the offensive staff, so it just, it's, it's, the
00:14:44landscape has definitely gotten muddy here in the last, whatever, 8 to 12
00:14:48months. I think Gruden's thing would be interesting, because I think, obviously, he has
00:14:52to explain the emails
00:14:56and I'm sure there's schools that, yes, I'm
00:15:00sure there are plenty of boosters that would say it's John Gruden. They would probably agree with them.
00:15:04That's part of the, there's also that too, so you're right. I mean, you
00:15:08can never tell with how these things will go. Like, I kind of thought that North Carolina, the academic
00:15:12side would push back. We want this 70-something-year-old
00:15:16pro coach with his, you know, he acts like a jerk and like, you know, like that, like we
00:15:20don't, that's not what we're trying to represent, but the powerful trustee
00:15:24and some really rich alumni were like, tough crap.
00:15:28Last thing on this, what, do you think there'll be any Patriots players of Bill's that follow
00:15:32him? Troy Brown, probably, right? He's on the
00:15:36Patriots staff still? He still is, yes. I wonder if he, he's
00:15:40one of the names that Bill kind of goes, you know, I don't think it'll be, you know,
00:15:44Edelman and McCourty's and all those guys, but I just wonder
00:15:48if Bill tries to take some of the younger
00:15:52retired in the last 10-ish years guys that were a long
00:15:56time Pat, I don't know, this, like, what's Patrick Charnup to, you know, or
00:16:00guys like that of like, hey, we, you know, I don't know what you're up to.
00:16:04Do you want to come coach and be my advocate to these young guys that can
00:16:08listen to similar music? Do they know similar shows, these guys, you know
00:16:12what I mean? Like, you wonder, because you don't want to get to your staff to be all
00:16:1660, 60 plus, like you're going to, you dive yourself into a little bit of a hole there.
00:16:20Yeah, I think that's a, that's an excellent point. And I would not surprise me in the least
00:16:24bit if he did try to tap into some of those guys that, you know, they're retired
00:16:28and a guy like Patrick Chung, you know, I think he has a restaurant, like he's not
00:16:32he's just sort of like floating around like, hey,
00:16:36do you want to try this? Come down here. Let's, let's see if it'll work.
00:16:40Yeah, it's, it's, it makes a lot of sense in that regard.
00:16:44You know, I don't, I don't know that you want to hire an
00:16:4885 year old, whatever is offensive line coach. Not that every time
00:16:52I see him, the guy's as sharp as he probably kicked my ass is my point, but
00:16:56all right, let's move on. But before we do that, let's hear about prize picks. It's the

00:17:44and we'll have our prize picks at the tail end of this pod. Let's get to our first
00:17:48game. Maybe not the sexiest game, but it
00:17:52is to me. We're in that mode now. It's a playoff football game.
00:17:56The six and seven Colts versus the eight and five Broncos
00:18:00currently in the eighth
00:18:04seat puts them a spot out of the postseason. The Broncos
00:18:08are the seventh seed Baltimore and the charges also
00:18:12eight and five like the Broncos, so there could be some movement there, but this is a head-to-head
00:18:16matchup for Indy. Indy has played better since
00:18:20reinserting Anthony Richardson and Richardson doesn't look
00:18:24pretty good against the Patriots, but still throwing completely less than 50% of his
00:18:28passes. But this is
00:18:32the moment. They're coming off a bye.
00:18:36They've struggled against teams with winning records. Indy's just one in six versus teams 500 or
00:18:40less. They gotta have this one though. So they give some opportunity
00:18:44here to sit back and decide what needs to be done.
00:18:48I've liked him as a coach. I like what he did against the Patriots. Can he do it against
00:18:52Vance Joseph's defense, which has been other than week 13 when the Browns
00:18:56just absolutely piled up 552 total yards. I think it was
00:19:00they've been outstanding for the better part of the year. Yeah, this is a
00:19:04one of the last like interesting
00:19:08AFC games in terms of in or out because I know it's week 15 and anything
00:19:12could happen, but I would venture to argue
00:19:16that if Miami and Indy lose this week, it's over
00:19:20for both and we're kind of just playing for seating in the AFC,
00:19:24which is fine. I mean that's look it happens like it some years.
00:19:28It's it's really competitive at the at the bottom and we make a big deal out of
00:19:32these teams that are going to get stomped in round one right and other years.
00:19:36It's like in the AFC this year where it's like a lot of who what's your path to
00:19:40you know, it looks like it's just gonna be through Kansas City obviously, but
00:19:44what's your path to you know to New Orleans and
00:19:48yeah, I think Denver is one of those teams
00:19:52that I think me and you were caught in the same boat
00:19:56you know, they can send Garrett Bowles today, but I think me and you are in the same boat of
00:20:00seven wins, maybe eight. It's kind of what they were a year ago
00:20:04some bumps and bruises with Bo Nix thought high ceiling right now.
00:20:08Floor low ceiling is Sean still that guy you know there was a lot
00:20:12of question marks and they've been way better than expected.
00:20:16I think Bo Nix is kind of if you really take
00:20:20out the. I think that great word a lot of the like fluff
00:20:24out of the you know what gets put out there from a lot of major networks.
00:20:28I think those kind of what you expected like well, maybe a little better, but like
00:20:32some weeks he's really good some weeks. He kind of sucks, but you know his
00:20:36floor of sucking is like not quite as bad as you know a lot of these other young
00:20:40quarterbacks specifically the Colts young quarterback and you
00:20:44know he won't tell you with mistakes. He's been mobile. He's kind of gets it. Sean
00:20:48looks like a really good coach. The defense has been good. I like Denver in
00:20:52this game because I just think unless Richards Richards is gonna need to use
00:20:56his legs a lot. I've seen the Denver team up you know
00:21:00yep up close this year and they'll blitz the crap out of you one of them. I think they're
00:21:04one or two in blitz rate number two and number two. Yeah. Yeah
00:21:08like and that's it's a lot. You're not gonna split it. You know in some in some ways
00:21:12I would argue you probably just sit back and zone and make Anthony Richardson beat you
00:21:16but they might feel the opposite and say if we speed him up is he gonna
00:21:20make just like horrendous mistakes and that's probably what the game plan
00:21:24is gonna be if you're indie again. You gotta have this one as you mentioned cuz there's also
00:21:28a world if you're indie you're hoping this used to lose again
00:21:32to Miami and are we talking about my dog
00:21:36coughing in the background. You just took on a walk and he's now
00:21:40he's gassed. You know when if indie wins all of a sudden you're
00:21:44a game back and you're thinking hey man like end up with a game back three
00:21:48game back three to go. We could end up with a home playoff game and we benched our starting quarterback for Joe
00:21:52Frick and Flacco like five weeks ago. Yeah. Yeah we beat the Jets in some
00:21:56ridiculous game and all of a sudden we've got ourselves right back in it and
00:22:00so yeah I like I like Denver in this one just because I think I trust
00:22:04the I like both coaches. I guess I trust Sean more. I like to be I like you know
00:22:08both rosters to a point but I like you know the Broncos
00:22:12I think roster defensively a little bit more. I like
00:22:16to answer us a better Gus Bradley. This is this game to me comes down to
00:22:20which one of these young quarterbacks is going to make one or two
00:22:24of those mistakes that you're just like you cannot have. And so yeah I think
00:22:28this is one of a game that's interesting but it's also a game that I think
00:22:32is like I said one of the final games
00:22:36of the year in the AFC at least if Indy and Miami lose
00:22:40we're talking seating the rest of the way pretty much unless some crazy collapse
00:22:44happens. I'm glad you brought up the blitz factor
00:22:48for the Broncos. So as I mentioned second in the league in blitz
00:22:52you know who is dead last in completion percentage and pass a rating against the blitz this year
00:22:56Anthony Richardson. So yeah if I had to bet
00:23:00on one of the young quarterbacks making the big mistake it's Richardson
00:23:04to your point about the fluff with Nix's numbers too by the way
00:23:08almost identical stats to Jaden Daniels
00:23:12who for seven or eight weeks was the runaway favorite to win rookie of the year
00:23:16and now obviously bone Nix's candidacy has gained a lot of steam
00:23:20he actually averages two more yards passing per game 218 versus 216
00:23:24he's run for a handful of touchdowns you know it's just it's very interesting
00:23:28the kind of year that he's had and he has built it up in some
00:23:32different spots but I think he's been a little bit better than expected. Let's go
00:23:36to what should be an awesome game the 10 and
00:23:40three bills against the 12 and one lines this game in Detroit
00:23:44interesting to note as we take this on Thursday afternoon at
00:23:48444 bills could not practice on Thursday
00:23:52because once again Mother Nature is just kicking the living crap out of Orchard
00:23:56Park and surrounding areas and there is a literally
00:24:00you cannot drive there is no visibility it is a state
00:24:04emergency so no practice for them which
00:24:08at this point of the year they kind of have a good idea of what they're doing but you'd still like to get
00:24:12out there walk through do certain things not going to be able to do that this one is a
00:24:16the top two scoring offenses in football lines averaging 32.1
00:24:20points per game the bills at 30.5 bills have gone over 30 points
00:24:24in seven straight games including last week when Josh Allen
00:24:28was superhuman again and yet they lost to the Rams 44 42
00:24:32so to me this comes down to this will
00:24:36who do you like best Detroit's offense versus the bill
00:24:40defense or the bills offense versus the
00:24:44Detroit defense I definitely
00:24:48like the Lions offense over the bills defense
00:24:52they just gave up 40 45 right 46
00:24:5644 44 to the Rams who
00:25:00are an awesome offense there's no one higher on the Rams than me but
00:25:04the Rams don't run the football the way Lions do
00:25:08I think I like the Detroit defense
00:25:1210 spots better than the Rams and
00:25:16as much as I think Josh Allen's awesome and I think he's playing really well I do
00:25:20well it was a little funny to me that I don't know
00:25:24I guess maybe I'm very old school I did it I feel like I felt this way with
00:25:28Hertz that two years ago it's like oh he's 40 touchdowns again I'm like
00:25:32yes he does but like when you run the ball as much
00:25:36as he does it just it's a really cool stat in one way but in other ways it's like it's
00:25:40not really encompassing I don't know Joe Burrow having almost 40 is a passer
00:25:44are you crapping on Josh Allen right now no I'm not no I just
00:25:48this might be a skip Bayless take and I know we didn't you talked about this
00:25:52let me put mark tape I don't I wish
00:25:56somehow Josh could have called out of the QB sneak there on the end of the game
00:26:00there I just I think he I don't think anyone would have begrudged him to do so
00:26:04I think that like he gets he's an amazing player I just almost
00:26:08wish he would have been like screw it the same way I wish Rogers would have stayed on the field
00:26:12in the 2020 NFC title game be like dude screw you like
00:26:16who are you to tell me what to do I know it's whatever I just that was
00:26:20just one of those I was like come on like they I would have been fun to see if they could have tied it up got the ball back
00:26:24there I think this game to Buffalo unfortunately because
00:26:28of last week it just is a little less exciting
00:26:32just a little bit because I felt like Buffalo was in a spot where like they truly
00:26:36there was a period of time on Sunday afternoon where you felt
00:26:40like if Buffalo makes this comeback and there was a period of time
00:26:44on Sunday night where it was like oh I kind of hope the Chargers are going to win
00:26:48transparently because I want this to stay interesting I wanted to have it
00:26:52come down a week you know week 18
00:26:56Bill's Chief they really had to play their guys to get that by and you know we're gonna
00:27:00I don't know I just you want to see those teams kind of be able to and maybe they will still go full throttle
00:27:04but you don't see the Chiefs really losing two games they've lost one all year although right you know
00:27:08the if you flip the one score thing that I'm at the chart I mentioned on my pod the other day that
00:27:12she should be two and ten which is hilarious credit to Andy Reid by the
00:27:16way we don't talk enough about how he's pretty clearly the best coach in the NFL
00:27:20I I'm excited because this is a true
00:27:24this is if I was a betting guy I would say this is
00:27:28like this feels weirdly like the most likely Super Bowl like I feel
00:27:32like if people when we do in a couple weeks time we do our playoff
00:27:36thing and who you got going to the Super Bowl and ESPN does their graphic and
00:27:40Fox and NBC and every other network does their thing
00:27:44I feel like we're the most we're going to see is Bill's Lions because I think people are going to
00:27:48buy into the way Josh is playing the momentum the Bills have it's their time
00:27:52the Chiefs have struggled to really dominate anybody all year
00:27:56and the Lions are you know Philly's got their turmoil which we'll talk about
00:28:00it just this feels like the priest the preemptive matchup
00:28:04would be the one of the creature Super Bowls based on the fan bases
00:28:08be ready to tear each other's face off I think I thought
00:28:12today two of the 12 teams that have never won a Super Bowl right in Buffalo
00:28:16so it would be nuts
00:28:20I think I like to try this game but I if Buffalo looks really
00:28:24good here it's hard to not think they're
00:28:28the best team in the AFC at some level like they beat Kansas City
00:28:32and they've beaten pretty much everybody else
00:28:36I guess them and Baltimore you know we can go back to that game and it's early in the year
00:28:40and you wonder I don't know I just
00:28:44this is intriguing game to me I just I don't know how else to describe it other than I'm just like I want to know
00:28:48what these teams like match up like with each other I was so bummed out
00:28:52by the Bills defensive plan against the Rams
00:28:56you had a lot of good points that I what are you doing right and so
00:29:00the funny thing is going into this weekend's game
00:29:04you know I always like to look to find some of those numbers here or there
00:29:08obviously the Bills as we've talked about and talked about ad nauseum here the last
00:29:12few weeks about how much zone they play 77% it's 5th highest
00:29:16in the league percentage wise Jared Goff's 10 interceptions
00:29:20this year have all come versus zone so it's like
00:29:24I don't know could they turn him over once or twice in this game only thing I'll say with that stat is
00:29:28like 17 of them were in one game in one game where a couple
00:29:32of them were just completely freaky too but yeah it just it's interesting like I'm
00:29:36as I try to figure out like can look I think Buffalo is tough enough to go on the road
00:29:40and win there but their defense is going to have to play a hell of a lot better
00:29:44Detroit's going to Detroit to run the ball oh my god 150 times
00:29:48it's yeah it's right because Stafford threw the ball over the yard 300 plus yards
00:29:52don't fall in love with now because if you can keep Josh off
00:29:56the field you win it's
00:30:00and this is something that Ben's done a good job there was a game early in the year might have
00:30:04been their only loss right where he threw 50 golf through like 53 times against Tampa
00:30:08it was a horrible game it made no sense like it was the game they could have
00:30:12still run the football they didn't and I felt like Dan Campbell said to him after that
00:30:16don't let that happen again we cannot we have too much juice up front
00:30:20with our offensive line we have too much juice in the backfield with those two guys Montgomery and Gibbs
00:30:24like unless we're down by three touchdowns in the fourth quarter
00:30:28I don't we should never come close to approaching that number and they've been awesome
00:30:32we've talked about how light the bills are up front in particular
00:30:36even at the linebacker level that's the path control the football
00:30:4035 minutes run the ball down their throat and keep Josh off the field
00:30:44and maybe you get Josh to make the one mistake or there can't run the football which has been a bit
00:30:48of an issue for them lately it's become now the Josh running the football show
00:30:52because they haven't been able to get James Cook going like he was earlier in the year
00:30:56the one thing I and again I bring this up
00:31:00in a way that I don't I'm not encouraging it it's more of just something to watch
00:31:04the Lions play this is the edge
00:31:08they are right up against it and I'm
00:31:12I've no problem with it if that's the brand of football you're going to play
00:31:16you can dish it out you better be able to take it in the whole nine yards right
00:31:20there was a conversation before the Bears
00:31:24came on Thanksgiving with Caleb Williams and how he goes runs towards the
00:31:28sideline and he does kind of gives you that dead leg move to try to
00:31:32you know hey he's going to go out of bounds and pick up an extra five extra six
00:31:36Dan Campbell talked about it hey we're going to hit you when you go out of if you're still
00:31:40in bounds but you're going out of bounds because you're a runner we had the Trevor Lawrence stuff
00:31:44a year two weeks ago Josh
00:31:48is the biggest flopper in the NFL and it's fine
00:31:52he gets calls from it it helps his team LeBron does it in the NBA
00:31:56Neymar does it in soccer it happens people do it they manipulate the rules
00:32:00the best of their ability that everyone's trying to find an edge right and Josh has found an edge with
00:32:04he gets hit really hard and Cam Newton used to never get those calls
00:32:08and Josh is like I'm going to get those calls I don't
00:32:12agree with it but I understand the thought process
00:32:16the amount of flags that come out or don't get called and how physical can Detroit
00:32:20be and that line and this Joshua the fake pump fake
00:32:2415 yards down the field and someone just lights him up or is it the opposite
00:32:28and Detroit barely touches him and Josh draws a massive third and
00:32:32six and they get a sack but it's you know that I know it sounds
00:32:36crazy and it's not a Super Bowl so it doesn't you don't need to get that in deep in it
00:32:40but that is something seriously to continue to watch and Detroit who plays probably
00:32:44the most physical brand of football and right on that edge I do wonder
00:32:48Sunday do we see one or two of those calls
00:32:52one way or another that people are freaking out in Buffalo freaking out in Detroit and
00:32:56have that kind of maybe impact scene it's a really it's a I'm telling you
00:33:00it is something that every week we saw last week with the Rams twice
00:33:04the late hit it was Bill's touchdown and then they didn't call one
00:33:08and Josh threw his head back and people were flipping out about
00:33:12there's a couple things I wanted to talk about before we move on to the next one about that point
00:33:16one what's crazy about Josh flopping is that Josh runs over
00:33:20dudes on a regular basis that's why it's my biggest pet peeve
00:33:24you're a freaking ox and you will you know you're running down the middle of the field
00:33:28you'll say oh linebacker screw it I'm going to drop a safety corner
00:33:32I will run right through you and generally he's the one who's knocking people
00:33:36over they're not knocking him back the other part of this and you know
00:33:40this sort of came into conversation after Trevor Lawrence because Brady went off on it
00:33:44it's like he's maybe the flag should be on the quarterbacks and
00:33:48they got to do a better job protecting themselves and meanwhile I'm thinking to myself and I wrote
00:33:52about it Brady used to like you breathed on him and he was screaming
00:33:56at the referee you know throw the flag throw the flag losing his mind that
00:34:00we just we just play like I get you're trying to
00:34:04I don't want more flags yeah like Jesus just play
00:34:08nobody wants to see that stuff just play
00:34:12you know just again just play I got nothing more than that
00:34:16just play before we get to Steelers Eagles I know

00:35:44do it and you can thank me later let's go Steelers-Eagles another this
00:35:48is another like at least in terms of records and of course the Battle of Pennsylvania
00:35:52Steelers 10-3 Eagles 11-2 this game in Philadelphia
00:35:56doesn't look like George Pickens will play for
00:36:00Pittsburgh at least that's sort of the vibe that you've gotten from Mike Tomlin here again we're
00:36:04taping this on Thursday so to this point this week meanwhile on the other side
00:36:08we have drama and I don't know
00:36:12if there's something in the water with this Eagles football team
00:36:16in case you missed it after the game in which they won they barely beat
00:36:20Panthers last weekend they approached A.J. Brown who was very
00:36:24it's just a non-factor didn't get targeted until the second quarter
00:36:28I mean Jalen Hurts was 14 of 21 for 108 yards I believe
00:36:32two touchdowns but again for a team that has him Devante Smith I know Goddard's hurt
00:36:36but like they have pieces they asked him what's
00:36:40happening with the offense or something to that point he just said passing
00:36:44and if you know A.J. Brown you know he's an emotional dude he said in the
00:36:48past including last year that sometimes after games he doesn't
00:36:52want to talk because his emotions are running red
00:36:56hot and he's not good at filtering him so immediately
00:37:00people took that as a shot at Jalen Hurts and
00:37:04there was a point after a three and out during the game in which Brown came over to the bench and slammed
00:37:08his helmet on the bench and appeared to be giving the stink eye
00:37:12to Hurts and if he actually went back and I had some people have cut up some different things
00:37:16Brown was open a decent amount and just didn't see the ball
00:37:20so Brandon Graham went on his radio show Brandon Graham
00:37:24says you know they used to be friends
00:37:28okay implying obviously that things have
00:37:32changed and that he said you know it would be nice if they could get
00:37:36on the same page you know within I don't even know an hour
00:37:40two he was on Twitter backtracking the whole thing like no
00:37:44that's not what I meant I took it out of context I was wrong like clearly
00:37:48whoever Sirianni PR one of the
00:37:52players like what did you just do Brandon? Brandon of course
00:37:56on the IR with the torn tricep but this whole week has now spun
00:38:00into AJ and Jalen and even though they've won
00:38:04nine games in a row are the Eagles headed to
00:38:08more dysfunction like they were last year where once again last year
00:38:12Jalen and AJ were kind of in the middle of it last year maybe more so Jalen
00:38:16and Jalen seems to be an interesting cat right he seems to be the common denominator
00:38:20in all this stuff but to me it's just one of
00:38:24those things where it looked like the Eagles had steadied the ship and said
00:38:28look Detroit may be here but like we're nipping at their heels like we could be the
00:38:32number one seed we feel like we could go in there and beat them and heaven forbid they have
00:38:36to come to us we get golf outdoors in January like we're ready
00:38:40to roll the young players have been great as we've talked about Quinion Mitchell
00:38:44Cooper Dejean like they've gotten Nolan Smith is producing
00:38:48Brandon Graham in his second not Brandon Graham give me the big guy why am I drawing a blank
00:38:52Jordan Davis Jalen Carter there we go Jalen
00:38:56Carter's been awesome this year they have so many good young players
00:39:00name a Georgia guy with a misdemeanor on his record
00:39:04so I just wonder with where their heads are at and like
00:39:08I could see this game will be in one of those things where they go alright
00:39:12look let's keep AJ happy we're gonna he's gonna get freaking
00:39:16six targets in the first quarter we're gonna run tunnel screens we're gonna run
00:39:20quick stops we're gonna throw him a couple goal balls just like get him into it
00:39:24make him feel like he's everything's great but I still wonder
00:39:28no matter what it looks like whether they win lose whether he goes off he doesn't
00:39:32whether they're gonna be this is something to keep an eye on going forward
00:39:36yeah I kind of feel like this is more on Jalen Hurts
00:39:40I've seen a lot of let's state let's just take you back to the
00:39:44summer but probably the corniest thing I think I've
00:39:48seen in all of 2024 politics sports
00:39:52I love it weirds the accountable group chat
00:39:56from Devin White Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown and couldn't wait to tell
00:40:00everyone about this group chat yeah and they text each other every day to keep each
00:40:04other accountable why do you need to tell people about
00:40:08it unless you want praise for how accountable you are when you got
00:40:12none of you are being accountable in this situation obviously
00:40:16and I've seen everyone take it you know Jalen Hurts I feel so bad for him
00:40:20Ryan Clark said he wouldn't be friends with AJ Brown anymore after this
00:40:24AJ Brown is extremely emotional player he's best friends with
00:40:28Elijah Moore who did the same thing with the Jets after a win they blew
00:40:32out the they blew Green Bay out and came back
00:40:36and requested a trade because he didn't get enough targets in a win by three touchdowns
00:40:40this is the old miss it's DK AJ Brown and Elijah Moore
00:40:44that trio it's frankly they've always been he's always been this way
00:40:48he's that talented and you know he's a guy who you have to handle
00:40:52a little bit with kid gloves and I don't mean that in a mean way it's just
00:40:56know your roster know your players understand
00:41:00he needs his ego stroked he does it's fine
00:41:04he's extremely talented player yes extremely talented
00:41:08superstar player and when AJ's going like this team is
00:41:12is unbelievable and they're still really good without him and I'm not saying that they're not
00:41:16he's a little different than Devante Smith right he's a little different than they're just different players they're different people
00:41:20it's fine Jalen's got to play better at some point
00:41:24here and I know we like to do this whole like it's everyone
00:41:28else's fault it's Sirianni's fault it's the coordinators it's this
00:41:32he's a 55 million dollar a year quarterback man and like at some point
00:41:36you have to be more than a guy that's a tush push go ball and one read quarterback
00:41:40and I'm sorry I'm not trying to beat up on the guy not that he's not a good quarterback and I'm sure he's a great guy
00:41:44whatever we can do that whole thing but it's a lot of the
00:41:48like cliche speeches 24-7 and it's like
00:41:52it's just something about it is like maybe AJ Brown's just like dude throw me the football and stop
00:41:56with the like all the other stuff and like that's it
00:42:00throw me the football and like Jalen maybe you don't need to tuck it down and throw the ball away
00:42:04and like I'm 6'3, 230 and can out jump everyone
00:42:08throw me the 50-50 balls that's what I'm looking for and like that's
00:42:12the Eagles got to hammer that out because we saw this a year ago yeah injuries
00:42:16started to take over the defense was struggling last year Jason Kelsey made a really good point about how
00:42:20that's why it's not the same right they have Saquon and the defense is fixed
00:42:24that's fair but we don't talk about in that Bucks game Jalen
00:42:28was getting I mean it was it was bad throw after bad like
00:42:32it's not just one thing right like I would be ready to adjust like that Jets game wasn't on
00:42:36the Eagles defense that Jets game they gave up 12 points that Jalen
00:42:40hurts through three interceptions one of them you know on a third and 12 with two minutes
00:42:44to go in the game when you should just check the ball down like he again good
00:42:48player but even and my last thing on this
00:42:52Brandon Graham like enough I'm sorry
00:42:56it's the media tour after he got hurt I felt really bad for him but like people
00:43:00gave Aaron Rodgers a really hard time about this Brandon Graham was like it was
00:43:04all about this was about me and like I almost had it
00:43:08sucks man it's horrible I feel terrible for anyone going through a season ending injury but like
00:43:12going on a radio show saying anything but to the book stuff
00:43:16is insane and even more insane when you air these guys
00:43:20out personal relationship out knowing your team captain like you're 37
00:43:24you're not a this isn't your four for you right so I'm not trying to beat
00:43:28up Nick Sirianni's got to get those guys in a room and it clearly they probably did at some point
00:43:32I'm not going to say anything passing Robert Mays of the Athletic said
00:43:36it was like in fairness was what was wrong with what AJ Brown said he said
00:43:40their passing needs to be fixed and it does worst pass defense in the NFL they had
00:43:44110 yards passing at home so this game was important
00:43:48in a lot of ways because this happened I don't know if it's last year two years
00:43:52ago I could be mixing up my you know there's a million games on AJ Brown got pissed off
00:43:56last year and they gave him like 150 targets I think it was after the Washington game if I'm not
00:44:00mistaken I think he had the one-handed catch I think it was retouched yeah
00:44:04he went crazy so to your point that's what you need to do but at the same time
00:44:08it's a tough balance you got to keep Jalen kind of
00:44:12not start building any bad habits what if he starts forcing it a little bit
00:44:16like Dax in the playoffs the CD lamb and it's like Dax starts turning the football over
00:44:20because you're Mike Tomlin all week I'm Joey Porter is
00:44:24in AJ Brown's ear yapping I am getting
00:44:28AJ Brown a little too juiced up for this game
00:44:32don't ignore Saquon the Eagles are winning these football games because they're
00:44:36defense and they're run games so if I'm Pittsburgh I'm like I am making
00:44:40Jalen Hurts be a multi-reed quarterback and I'm making AJ Brown
00:44:44get you know we've seen it with DK Metcalf too
00:44:48there's been plenty of games over the last couple years where it's
00:44:52not the hardest thing to do to get under these guys skin not saying it's going to work for you either by the way
00:44:56because they're that damn good but I don't know man
00:45:00if I'm Mike Tomlin all I'm talking about all week is these guys are in turmoil
00:45:04let's go in an area Pennsylvania battle
00:45:08well it's what did Tomlin and the Steelers do against
00:45:12Baltimore right like Baltimore is high flying but we
00:45:16have this thing with them and they just for what they come in and they're already like
00:45:20they're already on edge when they play us and then we get in their ear and we hit them close to
00:45:24the whistle maybe right after the whistle we push them on the sideline
00:45:28yeah and we say some stuff in the pile and the next thing you know they're committing
00:45:3210 dumb penalties and the Steelers didn't score a touchdown in that
00:45:36game against the Ravens and beat the Ravens who were scoring 30 something points a game at that
00:45:40point like and in a way of sort of like started to derail
00:45:44them again after they had gotten on the nice run yeah Mike will have
00:45:48them they'll be in their ear and this will
00:45:52be a good one you know I know that the hard knocks is
00:45:56that division are you my question I guess to you and I know it's probably
00:46:00pretty hard on Jalen Hurts there but like no
00:46:04no dude Sanchez did a really good breakdown Mark Sanchez
00:46:08is really good at this by the way I think he's for my money
00:46:12I think he's one of the best announcers on TV period
00:46:16yeah but he he was he was in that building with the Eagles and he
00:46:20did a great breakdown of like Panthers go to man both the backers
00:46:24take both the backs and it's like Devontae Smith and AJ Brown are both one-on-one middle of the field
00:46:28it's like throw the football throw the football he's not throwing the football so
00:46:32I would if I were you and you like to watch like see it get broken down he's
00:46:36that was a great couple minute clip on Sanchez talking about there's
00:46:40throws everywhere in this offense so I thought
00:46:44after the Super Bowl year when he went toe-to-toe with Mahomes that
00:46:48this guy's a top five quarterback and this is even this is part
00:46:52of his ascension and yeah the Hail Mary was something but I was like
00:46:56I just thought he'd gone he'd found it like he'd gone to another place
00:47:00and they played the Patriots last year in the season opener and we know
00:47:04what the Patriots season was but the Patriots kept that game close in fact Mac Jones had a bad
00:47:08interception shocker that helped undo them
00:47:12publicly the Patriots said all the wonderful things about Jalen Hurts like
00:47:16oh you can do everything you run pass you know like I mean he's
00:47:20he's as dynamic as you get and then after you shut the microphone
00:47:24off
00:47:28you said a lot of cliches about him yeah we don't think he's that good
00:47:32what do you mean oh like he's an awesome athlete don't get me wrong but like if you make him play
00:47:36quarterback he struggles to play quarterback and they did a
00:47:40very good job in that game of making him play quarterback he threw for
00:47:44170 yards they won the game not because of him they won the game because well
00:47:48frankly because Mac Jones and the Patriots offense was a mess and set
00:47:52them up in great field position and they kick a lot of field goals
00:47:56in that game the Eagles did but they won and I kind of came away
00:48:00from that game going I didn't think the Patriots were going to be all that good last year like I thought they were
00:48:04whatever I thought they were six win seven win team and they won four
00:48:08but I remember that sort of changed how I viewed him
00:48:12and as the season went on and obviously they were ten and one at one point but it went
00:48:16in the other direction he wasn't playing great even when they were ten and one and they were rolling
00:48:20and I've never quite looked at him as the same kind of player
00:48:24and I think you're sort of seeing the same things that were what the Patriots identified
00:48:28now 28 games ago or whatever it is however long it is
00:48:32they're still there. It seems like it starts to
00:48:36maybe I'm being probably harder than most people aren't hurt but
00:48:40back at Bama at Oklahoma it's
00:48:44like it starts fast and starts
00:48:48it feels like it gets like I don't know just sour
00:48:52quicker than it should and I just don't know
00:48:56I don't know I've been in a lot of locker rooms I've played for a long time and again I mean you both only played up
00:49:00through college but you're in a lot of different locker rooms and multiple colleges the whole thing
00:49:04and obviously now covering it I do wonder sometimes
00:49:08at least I used to be like this the cliche stuff sometimes
00:49:12it eventually wears on you and you have a couple
00:49:16bad games and you're like dude stop just be real
00:49:20is that how you really feel or are you just giving the coach speak and I don't know
00:49:24sometimes I do wonder if that rubs people the wrong way a little bit. Any chance
00:49:28he's a budding
00:49:32Russell Wilson? Of course it is.
00:49:36I don't want him to get to that point because
00:49:40at some point Russ became this thing
00:49:44and you're like is that Russ? Is that who he is?
00:49:48Or is that who he wants to be? What are you Monday through Friday
00:49:52cameras off you and Sierra hanging out? Are you a Go Hawks?
00:49:56Is that who you talk to your wife? And it's fine if you do and that's your own thing
00:50:00but I don't know.
00:50:08On that note let's hear from Game Time. We love Game Time don't you?
00:50:12Do you want tickets? Look we have college playoff games.
00:50:16I don't know if you saw the prices for Notre Dame, Indiana.
00:50:20Absurd prices. Well over a thousand bucks to get into that game.
00:50:24However if you wanted to go to that game or any other game
00:50:28NBA, NHL, regular season here in Rwanda now for the National Football League
00:50:32use Game Time. It's pretty simple. Game Time picks filters out the fluff
00:50:36to show you only incredible deals like great seats so you don't have to waste time searching
00:50:40through thousands of tickets. I say it a million times when it comes to this. The filter thing
00:50:44is unbelievable. Everybody else pales in comparison.

00:51:00What time is it? It is a game time. We're going to end
00:51:04with the two teams that we spend the most time with. Patriots
00:51:08playing the Arizona Cardinals. The Jets and Jaguars.
00:51:12We're not going to spend a ton of time on either one of these because quite frankly
00:51:16Patriots coming off the bye.
00:51:20Normally you'd say hey especially this late in the year having the bye that's tough
00:51:24but like okay now you're refreshed and re-energized but the way this coaching
00:51:28staff has been and the way this team has been sort of schizophrenic at times
00:51:32I have very little faith
00:51:36that they're going to have a good plan and the right energy
00:51:40going into Arizona. I'm not saying like I think this is a winnable game
00:51:44when you talk about you know sort of what Arizona's good at. I think the Patriots
00:51:48playing one of their better games could win this football game on the road
00:51:52but I just this coaching staff hasn't shown me anything. Alex Van Pelt has become
00:51:56the best of the big three in terms of Drodd Mayo the head coach
00:52:00defense coordinator Demarcus Covington so I expect them to score
00:52:04some points but I just have no faith that they're going to keep
00:52:08Kyler Murray, James Conner, McBride, Harrison, etc.
00:52:12from going off on them and whether it's 30-27 or
00:52:1627-24 like I just I don't have any faith.
00:52:20Yeah, going to the West Coast is difficult. Going to the West Coast off a bye in a lost
00:52:24season is very difficult. Late in the year
00:52:28this will be again I know it's always a big test with this coaching staff and I think
00:52:32Bedard had an article about like this he should be coaching for his job the next four weeks and
00:52:36I know that's how me and you feel. I know there's probably a 2%
00:52:40chance that's even a thing. Arizona
00:52:44is very week-to-week. They should be the desperate team
00:52:48right? They still have playoff aspirations
00:52:52but since that Jets game I don't really
00:52:56feel like they've looked great. I think they were 5-4
00:53:00going into the Jets game and then they beat the Jets and Bears and Dolphins back
00:53:04to back to back and then Seattle Vikings.
00:53:08Kyler's starting to play some pretty bad football and
00:53:12this is a defense you can get right against let's be honest and
00:53:16yeah, I'd like to see New England put up a valiant effort
00:53:20here. I'm not picking them. I'm not they lose they lose. It's probably
00:53:24better in the long run to not win this game. If we're being honest based on you know, we got
00:53:28Jets Jags and you know Titans and Giants and Raiders are
00:53:32all playing pretty horrible football in this draft might be as we talked about on Friday like
00:53:36six or seven guys of like really legit top 10 players.
00:53:40But I still want to see them go out there and
00:53:44play a decent brand of football. You want to see Drake may do some good stuff
00:53:48Arizona's defense will throw a lot of different things at you with Jonathan Gannon and we've got some good
00:53:52players. But yeah, this is one of those games where
00:53:5627-24 loss for Drake may looks awesome is
00:54:00not the worst thing in the world. Yeah, I agree
00:54:04like isn't it crazy that we've gotten to this point here December the 12th
00:54:08and the thing I worry about least on the football team is the quarterback is the rookie
00:54:12quarterback, which is that's a great sign friends of friends of
00:54:16ours and we're friends of their show six rings pod. I saw them doing basically a
00:54:20like, you know the family keeper, you know stay or go thing and they said they had
00:54:24about 99 guys. They could confidently say they would keep
00:54:28I know you've talked about this a lot is like 20
00:54:323040% of this roster playing for a job next year. Like it feels like it least
00:54:36that number. It's not more hundred percent. And I think there's even a couple of guys that they
00:54:40extended that might be like Duggar
00:54:44and might be in trouble like yeah, like just like hey, you know what
00:54:48just we do what we do rebuilding will eat the dead money. Like
00:54:52thanks. Yeah, we have a I believe that they have the most cap space 117
00:54:56million going into this offseason. Like if you have
00:55:00to eat a contract or two and also the rest of their schedule
00:55:05it's if they don't get this one.
00:55:09Maybe get the Chargers at the end of the year and you can like
00:55:13a West Coast the East Coast. Maybe you can play that game. Although the brand of football the Chargers
00:55:17play. I don't know that in the cold is like this isn't the Chargers of
00:55:21you know, the the early 2000s a little differently
00:55:25for a little different, but like yeah, Buffalo Chargers Buffalo, like this is one of those
00:55:29if you don't win this week, you're probably 3 and 14. And so yeah, your best bet
00:55:33would be the Buffalo only plays for a half in the week 18 game because they've already they're already locked
00:55:37into a spot. But even then I've seen Josh put up 28 points and a half
00:55:41and against the against his team. Yeah, let's
00:55:45finish with this one. They never saw the Jets being
00:55:493 and 10 versus. I'm not surprised the Jags are 3 and 10.
00:55:53This is you both were very low on the Jags. I did not. Yeah.
00:55:57I didn't get it in the offseason. No, I got I
00:56:01just I didn't. I didn't get it like that.
00:56:05Well, I think Doug should. I think I mean I'm assuming
00:56:09Doug's going to get fired. I think we all kind of assume that they're just instead of making the change
00:56:13in the year, they're just going to ride it out to the end of the season and start over.
00:56:17I think Doug should just play a lot of golf. I think it's
00:56:21doesn't feel like he has much control there.
00:56:25The thing that he did well was design an offense. He did
00:56:29it with Frank Reich Frank left. He created in Philadelphia.
00:56:33He gives the one year where he gives the Jags sort of some stability because I've been there and done that before
00:56:37but quite frankly like any I want to say anybody but
00:56:41almost anybody after what Urban did could have at least settled it down and given you some
00:56:45hope and then it hasn't gone to the next place with them. So
00:56:49yeah, I think it's I think he's cooked but Jets
00:56:53aren't really playing for much either both teams essentially like the Patriots are
00:56:57the mix for the number one overall pick. Yeah, this is this game
00:57:01to me is the race for Travis Hunter. I know there's other
00:57:05pieces around it and we can talk all
00:57:09once we get to that point what this draft these draft picks look like.
00:57:13I think if you're the Jets, you'd like to see finish off in a couple wins here and
00:57:17can you get one at least on the tide a little bit and some goodwill
00:57:21some of the players and there's a lot of frustration. They're 0-7 in their last
00:57:25like nine or ten games here in one score games at less than six points
00:57:29even not even like if we're just we make it down to like not even not even
00:57:33touching an extra point like literally just touchdown difference their own seven. They've blown
00:57:37in the last three games with like 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter of the lead.
00:57:41It's like damn near impossible to do.
00:57:45If you lose this if you're the Jets the Jets finish with
00:57:49Buffalo and Buffalo the Rams and Miami
00:57:53that feels like a team that's going three and fourteen and maybe that benefits you
00:57:57in the long run because I bias they think it'd be kind of cool to see sauce Gardner
00:58:01Michael Carter and Travis Hunter on one side of the ball and Garrett Wilson Devontae and Travis
00:58:05Hunter. I mean you could put me and you out there quarterback and I think you'd be pretty
00:58:09pretty set like you'd be a pretty good spot. I still got a gun man. I'm telling you.
00:58:13Yeah, exactly right. So you're you look at that if you're the Jags
00:58:17the Jags remaining schedule is very murky. I know they're
00:58:21three and ten but they got the Jets at home.
00:58:25They play the Raiders in Vegas. I
00:58:29feel like the Vegas Raiders probably win that game. They might cost themselves the number one pick
00:58:33they get the Titans at home, you know, who knows there
00:58:37obviously this these teams are not the cream of the
00:58:41crop in the NFL, you know in the Jags just beat them ten to six
00:58:45and then they finish with the Colts and who knows what the cold season will be again.
00:58:49I know we started the show by talking, you know playoffs and these really
00:58:53big time matchups these end up being the matchups that also impact
00:58:57these become the almost there's the middle pack
00:59:01the red zone docket like Jets Dolphins last week was classic like
00:59:05this game really doesn't matter that much other than to the two fan base to hate each
00:59:09other and Miami has like a 2% chance of making it but like the games kind of the
00:59:13unwatchable game of the week. Those are the unwatchable games because they
00:59:17don't impact the playoffs and they don't really impact top five picks quarterbacks things like
00:59:21that. Just Jags as crazy as it sounds
00:59:25it does matter and so honestly Patriots Cardinals does to a little bit because
00:59:29look I can make an argument for like four or five guys to the Patriots
00:59:33gives a tech McMillan or is it Graham? Is it Abdul Carter? Is it Travis Hunter?
00:59:37What is it like, you know, whatever direction you'd want to go but
00:59:41these teams need elite talent so bad and there's such a
00:59:45there's such a breadth of talent of quarterbacks in this Ross. I mean this draft and we were
00:59:49just on this might go back to school or probably will go back and Milroy might go back.
00:59:53So yeah, I'm I don't know. I just be interested to see what happens here because
00:59:57two teams that not only fighting in a lot
01:00:01of ways for draft position. They're probably fighting over head coaching candidates probably mainly
01:00:05Mike Vrabel and who's going to give Vrabel more control pay him more money
01:00:09with two owners who are not the most well regarded
01:00:13around League circles, but actually are way too overly patient and I think that
01:00:17might be their biggest flaw in a lot of ways is they metal and then they're too
01:00:21impatient. So we talked way too much Jets Jags, I guess but
01:00:25this game just does matter in a lot of ways because this is probably
01:00:29I truly think the loser this picks third in the NFL draft and it's the
01:00:33prime spot to get the one true elite
01:00:37elite level player in this class. We might have to win the offseason
01:00:41Starks have a stress meter for you, you know, like or like the role where's
01:00:45where's will on the roller coaster of what the Jets are doing in the offseason
01:00:49because you know, they'll be I want them to wait on Sunday. I'm never going to root for them to lose
01:00:53they'll do it on their own. That's how I always operate, but I do
01:00:57I did have a fever dream last week. I think I texted my brothers. I woke
01:01:01up the Jets hired Mike Vrabel Josh McCown and Jim Leonard is their OC
01:01:05at DC and they drafted Travis Hunter and I was like they're going to
01:01:09win 12 games and I was right back to it. I woke up from the dream
01:01:13and 98% of that's not even remotely possible.
01:01:17I love it. Alright, let's finish up with our prize picks
01:01:21I've got four for you. I'll start us off couple with the Patriots
01:01:25and Cardinals. Give me Drake may more than
01:01:2929 and a half rushing yards. He has been good for that. I think in all
01:01:33but one game that he started and then the game that of course that he was injured in
01:01:37give me Hunter Henry who is obviously they have a quite a connection
01:01:41more than 46 and a half receiving yards and then
01:01:45I'm going back to my guy Justice Hill for Baltimore. He was one of my guys early on in the
01:01:49year. I'm coming back to him 13 and a half rushing yards. I'm taking more
01:01:53on that and finally Alvin Kamara. I think they hand the ball to him
01:01:57quite a bit against the commanders more than 71 and a half
01:02:01rushing yards. I'm going to we talked about it before
01:02:05if you can find any AJ Brown number you want to find
01:02:09I see that I say that because I just think this is the classic
01:02:13overcompensation type of situation and I just
01:02:17I don't know. It's it. It feels like the Eagles might lose themselves
01:02:21the game by trying to do too much here to to patch this
01:02:25again. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't I just we've seen it too many
01:02:29times before so anything more you can find an AJ Brown roll
01:02:33with it Jameer Gibbs more yards. This
01:02:37feels like the Lions best chance to slow Buffalo down
01:02:41is to absolutely punch them in the mouth and when they do that over and over
01:02:45again, you have a chance to break a big one Jameer Gibbs might be the most explosive player in the NFL
01:02:49or at least in the conversation and
01:02:53I'm going to I'm going to go less on Devante Adams numbers this week.
01:02:57I think the Jets are going to Garrett's been a little testy
01:03:01and I think he's Garrett's done
01:03:05playing with Aaron Rodgers. I just
01:03:09it's you know last week he whatever
01:03:13Devante was not seen in practice today. Very weird.
01:03:17I'm not sure kind of what happened there. There's not really been any conversation around
01:03:21what was going on. It could be personal. I'm not really sure at least as of recording. So
01:03:25if that's the case, the Jags pass defense is
01:03:29horrendous. I can see the Jets just Aaron just saying like okay
01:03:33Garrett like you want the ball a lot like here you
01:03:37go and that means that would mean Devante maybe doesn't get to the he's been
01:03:41really productive as a jet, you know, he'd be on pace of for a full season. I think like
01:03:45110 1100 and seven touchdowns very
01:03:49respectable solid numbers. I just I don't know if he'll get
01:03:53feels like one of those games where people are going to be like, oh look Devante 100 last week like Jag
01:03:57stink. So he'll get another hundred this week. This feels like maybe the week they
01:04:01feed Garrett and run the ball and do these different things and win like 1613
01:04:05or something like that. All right, that's going to do it. You
