06 June - weather forecast presented by Greg Dewhurst.
Transcript
00:00Hello there. It was a chilly start to the morning and still rather cool for the time
00:06of year and it remains that way through the rest of the week into the weekend too. Low
00:11pressure sat to the northeast of the UK, dragging in quite cold air from the north. However,
00:16in any sunshine at this time of year, particularly across southern parts of England and Wales,
00:21it won't be too bad out there. And we can see that on the picture for the rest of the
00:25afternoon. A mixture of bright to sunny spells across the UK with a scattering of showers.
00:31The showers most prevalent across the northern half of the UK, one of two of these on the
00:36heaviest side at times. But many of us will stay dry. But it is rather breezy, particularly
00:42across the north and west of Scotland. Gusts here 30, 35 miles an hour. So it will be quite
00:48a cool feeling day, particularly under the cloud where the showers are 13 to 16 Celsius.
00:52Further south, where we do get a bit more sunshine, highs around 17 to 19 Celsius.
00:59But again, under the cloud, it will be a little disappointing for early June. As we go through
01:04the evening time, showers tend to fade away for most. However, overnight, we'll see a
01:09band of rain push into northern and western parts of Scotland, this heavy over the highlands
01:14and islands and then eventually moving into parts of Northern Ireland to the winds picking
01:18up here. Under the clearest skies elsewhere, temperatures start to dip away, perhaps some
01:23mist and fog patches forming. Single figure temperatures in towns and cities and then
01:28lower than this in the countryside. So it will be a cool start to Friday morning. But
01:33a bright start across England and Wales, though some showers already in the west. These push
01:37their way eastward through the morning. The band of rain across Scotland pushes its way
01:41southwards across Northern Ireland into Northern England as we go through the day, but breaking
01:45up into an area of showers later on. Behind this, a mixture of sunny spells and showers.
01:51Showers heavy and frequent and combined with some blustery conditions across Scotland.
01:56It will be another cold feeling day here. Most of us another rather cloudy day, but
02:01there will be some sunny spells that develop and the winds a little lighter further south.
02:05So this may feel OK in the sunshine. Pleasant for some of us. Temperatures rising towards
02:1220 Celsius, but for most generally the mid teens and perhaps even a little lower across
02:18the far north west of Scotland. So still below average for the time of year. Into the evening
02:23time we start to see some showers fade away across England and Wales. Further blustery
02:28showers pushing in across Scotland, merging into some longer spells of rain as well. And
02:34then we're just going to end on a quick look into the weekend. And as we saw earlier, low
02:40pressure sat to the northeast of us, so there will be some bright or sunny spells at times,
02:44but further showers, particularly across the north and east of the UK and temperatures
02:50largely below average. Again, largely in the north, but in any sunnier spells it will feel
02:55fairly pleasant. If you'd like more details for the weather where you are and the weather
