00:00Hello, thanks for joining me for your afternoon weather update from the Met
00:03office. For most of us a fine Wednesday out there but the weather is about to
00:08change. A big lump of cloud out in the Atlantic that's going to bring some rain
00:12for all of us during Thursday and changes to much more showery conditions
00:16into the weekend. That's all of course thanks to an area of low pressure. But
00:21it's not with us yet and right now we have this little bump in the isobars, a
00:24little ridge of high pressure. The isobars have been opening up so it's not
00:28as windy as yesterday, not completely dry. Notice on the radar there are a few
00:32showers just grazing easternmost parts of England and the northeast of Scotland
00:36and they'll keep going into the afternoon. But for most places as I said
00:40it's dry, it's fine, yes some cloud but some spells of sunshine coming through
00:45as well. And when the sun's out temperatures just about creeping up to
00:4918 maybe even a 19 Celsius across some parts of the south. As I said the winds
00:55are lighter than yesterday so it feels a little bit warmer even though these
00:59temperatures are below average for the time of year, just 12-13 degrees across
01:04parts of eastern Scotland and northeast England. So compare those temperatures to
01:08average you can see the blues below and quite a bit below those darker blues
01:12across northeast England and eastern parts of Scotland. So yes it is still
01:16chilly for the time of year but it feels a bit warmer at least than it did on
01:20Tuesday. It'll turn quite cold this evening quite rapidly, the cloud turning
01:25to melt away, any showers in northeast Scotland tending to fade away as well. So
01:29it's a dry night, lengthy clear spells and those temperatures will tumble down
01:35into single digits in most towns and cities. Lower than that in the
01:39countryside some pockets of ground frost are possible. Notice out west though by
01:44morning double digits here, not as cold because that cloud we saw earlier on the
01:49satellite picture that's moving in that's going to make for a wet morning
01:51across northern Ireland. Pretty rapidly the rain spreads in here, some rain
01:55affecting western Wales, Devon and Cornwall for the morning rush hour as
01:59well and then that rain continues to chug its way eastwards spreading across
02:03all of Wales, southwest England by lunchtime, southwestern parts of Scotland
02:08as well and by the end of the day into the central belt of course much of
02:11northern England. Notice East Anglia in the southeast stay dry until late on,
02:15northern Scotland also mostly dry through the day but with increasing
02:19amounts of clouds. Not just the cloud and rain increasing the winds really
02:23starting to pick up as well and seasonably blustery afternoon across the
02:27west coast of Wales, southwest England as well. So some gusty gusty winds likely
02:32here also affecting the eastern side of northern Ireland and southwest Scotland.
02:36So rain moving in and also turning windy and even though temperatures will be
02:42similar to today's values of course with the wind and the rain it won't feel
02:46anything like as it won't feel very pleasant at all put it that way. A little
02:51bit warmer in the east we'll see some sunshine here before the cloud spills in.
02:55That cloud that will continue to thicken up across eastern England we'll see some
03:00rain eventually trickling into East Anglia and the southeast and eventually
03:03also to spreading into parts of northern Scotland. So all in all a pretty soggy
03:08and blustery end to Thursday and it stays pretty mixed into the weekend, low
03:13pressure dominating heavy and even thundery showers likely at times. For more
