00:00Hello, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03This weekend promises plenty of blue sky,
00:06lots of sunshine around.
00:08However, that sun is going to be very strong,
00:11high or very high UV levels.
00:13You will need the hat and the sunscreen this weekend.
00:16Temperature-wise, not especially warm on Saturday,
00:19although temperatures generally above average.
00:21Higher temperatures expected on Sunday afternoon,
00:24when in the southeast, we're going
00:25to get into the high 20s.
00:27Now, overnight Friday night, it will be slightly
00:29cooler because we've got a cold front pushing across the UK.
00:32High pressure is building back in behind that weather front,
00:36and that will bring plenty of sunshine through the weekend.
00:38But we'll also notice a fresher feel on Saturday morning.
00:42Still pretty warm and humid over eastern areas in particular,
00:45but elsewhere, notice the colors draining away overnight.
00:49It should be a more comfortable night for sleeping,
00:51certainly for much of the UK.
00:53Although, as I say, still pretty warm and humid
00:55across East Anglia and the southeast.
00:57As for weather-wise through the night, well,
00:59most places staying dry, a bit misty and murky
01:01with a bit of drizzle across the coast
01:03of the southwest initially.
01:04And there'll be a few scattered showers
01:06over northern Scotland.
01:07They'll zip through on a fairly stiff wind.
01:11That will still be there in the morning
01:12and still blowing in a few showers
01:14over the far north of the mainland,
01:15certainly across the Northern Isles,
01:17a few showers during the morning in particular.
01:19By the afternoon, those showers have pretty much faded away.
01:22And elsewhere, it's a fine day.
01:24Yes, there'll be some cloud bubbling up here and there.
01:26And we may see the sunshine turning
01:28fairly hazy as cloud thickens across Northern Ireland.
01:31But generally, it's a day of long, sunny periods.
01:34Temperatures responding to that sunshine,
01:36but not as warm as it was earlier in the week.
01:38We could get to 24, 25 across the southeast.
01:41But generally, temperatures closer to average,
01:43high teens, low 20s, feeling very pleasant in that sunshine.
01:47And there'll be plenty more of that sunshine
01:49around on Saturday evening as well.
01:52The cloud will continue to thicken across Northern Ireland
01:54and more particularly across the Western Isles of Scotland
01:57as there's a weather system moving in here.
01:59That could just bring a little bit of drizzle.
02:00But otherwise, very fine conditions
02:02persist through Saturday night
02:04as that high pressure continues to move in.
02:07And it brings with it warm air as well up from the southwest.
02:11So temperatures will be higher on Sunday.
02:13Notice that weather front there across the far north.
02:15That will introduce more cloud and some rain,
02:18especially over Shetland,
02:19but also over the hills and mountains of Western Scotland.
02:22There will be some drizzle at times at low levels, though.
02:25It will probably just stay dry and cloudy.
02:28And for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland
02:30and certainly the vast majority across England, Wales,
02:32it is simply another sunny day.
02:35And as I said at the start, it will be warmer.
02:38Temperatures more widely up into the low 20s
02:41and perhaps peaking in the southeast, 28, 29, 30 degrees
02:45isn't completely impossible.
02:47So temperatures will be higher on Sunday, a warmer feel.
02:50Again, the coast will be cooler
02:51and obviously it will be cooler
02:53with that weather front and a bit of rain
02:54across the far north of Scotland.
02:56But generally lots of sunshine to be had this weekend.
02:58Those UV levels, though, will be high or very high.
03:01Don't forget the sunscreen and the hat.
03:03And also grass pollen levels will be high or very high.
03:07More information on that on the website
