Transcript
00:00Hello, hot and sunny for many, but not all.
00:04Quite a lot more cloud today across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland,
00:07as the view from space shows quite clearly.
00:10Out in the Atlantic, there's plenty of cloud,
00:13a couple of areas of low pressure that we need to keep an eye on.
00:15Things are developing here.
00:17But for us, we're really concentrating on this older weather front
00:21that has produced more cloud and some rain across parts of Scotland already today.
00:25And we'll continue to provide quite cloudy conditions over eastern Scotland.
00:28For the bulk of England and Wales, though, plenty of sunshine, hot sunshine,
00:32across eastern areas in particular, a bit more cloud over northeast England.
00:36And there is the risk of one or two isolated showers over the hills
00:39and mountains of northern England and southern Scotland.
00:41That weather front will continue to provide some outbreaks of rain, too,
00:45over central and eastern Scotland, perhaps turning a bit brighter
00:48in western Scotland, maybe cheering up a little in Northern Ireland as well.
00:52Fresher conditions coming into the far northwest behind that cold front,
00:56but ahead of that cold front, the hot air.
00:58Even where it's cloudy over eastern Scotland, temperatures above average
01:01into the low 20s, but further south, getting into the mid to high 20s,
01:06quite widely over the Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast of England.
01:10Always a little cooler around the coast, but in and around the London area,
01:13topping out close to 30 Celsius.
01:16As we go through this evening, still a bit of that rain around,
01:18of course, eastern Scotland.
01:19So a damp end to the day here, but for many, a balmy summer's evening elsewhere.
01:25We'll continue to see cloud across northern England, southern Scotland,
01:28providing one or two showers, and through the evening and overnight,
01:31more mist and low cloud is potentially going to develop across eastern areas,
01:36coming in from the North Sea.
01:37For most, though, it's a dry night and a clear night.
01:39Quite a contrast in temperatures, though.
01:41The cooler air in the northwest, a comfortable night on the west coast
01:44of Scotland and for Northern Ireland, whereas for many other areas,
01:47temperatures certainly in towns and cities likely to hold up at 15 or 16 degrees.
01:52So a warm and humid start to another very warm day for most tomorrow.
01:58There will be more cloud tomorrow over parts of eastern England.
02:00Some uncertainty about how much of this mist and low cloud sticks around,
02:05especially close to the coast.
02:06Likely to be quite a drab day, though, again, in eastern Scotland.
02:10A little bit of rain is possible at times here, but most will be dry.
02:13Probably a brighter day for Northern Ireland, some sunny spells here,
02:15at least initially, before more cloud starts to spill in later on from one
02:19of those developing areas of low pressure I talked about earlier.
02:23Again, though, for the vast majority, it's fine.
02:25It's sunny.
02:26It is very warm again.
02:28Temperatures, again, likely to get up to 30, maybe even 31 in the capital
02:32and quite widely over the Midlands, East Anglia, southern England,
02:36south Wales, the mid to even high 20s.
02:39Again, coasts will be a little bit cooler.
02:41And then we'll start to see a bit more of a significant change
02:44as we go through Wednesday evening.
02:46Cloud and rain just edging into the west of Northern Ireland
02:50and northwest Scotland.
02:52That is an area of low pressure.
02:53The breeze picking up as well.
02:55You can see that swirling around, that low pressure, which is quite low,
02:59actually, quite intense for the time of year.
03:02It's the weather front, though, that will push away the warmer weather,
03:06staying with the warmth across East Anglia until late on Thursday,
03:10but generally this low moving in, bringing cooler and fresher conditions
03:14and temperatures back closer to average as we head towards the end of the week
03:18and into the weekend.
