00:00Thanks for joining me for this latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Something sunnier and hotter on the way as we go through the weekend but before
00:09we get there we do have low pressure dominating things right now.
00:13Weatherfront's bringing a fair few showers and there will be more showers
00:16on Saturday but after that look at this high pressure is moving in. High pressure
00:20means the air is generally sinking and that will bring most of us a fine day on
00:24Sunday. The high is also likely to stick around. Weatherfront's try and push in
00:28from the northwest with the high pressure in control certainly across
00:32the south we should see a few days of dry sunny and warmer weather because as
00:38the high starts to edge away to the east we could waft up some hotter air from
00:44the south. Weatherfront's trying to push in keeping things a little cooler
00:47across the far northwest but generally speaking the area of high pressure will
00:51win out. That's all to come through the early part of next week first let's get
00:56through Friday night and Saturday because there will still be plenty of
00:59showers around from the low pressure and those weatherfront's. The showers
01:03tending to fade as we go through Friday evening still one or two heavy ones
01:06across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland and later in the night the cloud
01:10thickening up again across the Isle of Man into northwest England southwest
01:13Scotland some wetter weather returning here but generally most places turning
01:17dry and clear a little fresher than recent nights as well down to single
01:22digits in parts of the countryside towns and cities 10 to 13. So on to the
01:27detail for Saturday and this area of rain it could be quite heavy particularly
01:31over the Lake District early on in the morning so bear that in mind if you're
01:35heading here and some heavier rain will move into southeast Scotland as we go
01:40through the morning as well quite a lot of spray and surface water on the roads
01:43here. Elsewhere generally a fine and a sunny start to the weekend but as we go
01:47through the day we will see more showers developing particularly over Wales right
01:52across northern England and the Midlands and in this zone we could even see the
01:56odd thunderstorm. One or two scattered showers across southwest England not as
02:00many showers for Scotland and Northern Ireland overall a much drier day here
02:04particularly on the west coast of Scotland some good spars of sunshine and
02:07another place largely dry on Saturday just like Friday East Anglia in the
02:11southeast not many showers around here that's what we'll see the top
02:15temperatures 23 degrees Celsius maybe up to 24 or even 25 in one or two places a
02:21warmer day in Edinburgh as well 21 here but with this cloudier zone with more
02:25showers probably a cooler day over northern England Wales and parts of the
02:29Midlands. Can't completely rule out showers got to see Stangley in the southeast
02:32particularly through the evening one or two could push in but as we go through
02:35the evening look the showers do tend to fade away most places becoming dry by
02:39midnight and then most places will be dry throughout Sunday it's going to be a
02:44fine day by and large any early morning mist and fog should clear away and then
02:49yeah something we haven't seen too much of through the summer a cracking
02:53summer's day with lots of sunshine and temperatures getting a little bit above
02:56average can't completely rule out showers over the Northern Isles bit
02:59breezy maybe over the Western Isles but generally for most places it's light
03:03winds quite a bit of blue sky and those temperatures getting up where widely
03:08above 20 degrees Celsius and across central and eastern England into the mid
03:1120s 27 is possible in and around the London area and things could as we saw
03:16at the start get hotter still as we go into the early part of next week so
03:21plenty going on with the weather through this weekend and indeed beyond make sure
