00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03A fine day for many today but in the West we will see the cloud thickening
00:07and a little bit of rain trickling in as we go through the day. For many though
00:10it's a fine dry start out there.
00:13We'll see some cloud bubbling up over eastern England and one or two
00:16scattered showers likely East Yorkshire down through Lincolnshire towards
00:20Cambridgeshire
00:20maybe Norfolk and Suffolk as well. Very hit and miss, many places staying dry.
00:24Further west though the cloud is going to be thickening through the morning, turning a bit
00:28damp across Northern Ireland and some rain just getting into the west of Wales
00:32maybe northwest England, southwest Scotland, southwest England by the end of
00:36the afternoon. For much of the UK though
00:38as I said it's going to be dry and bright with some spells of hazy sunshine.
00:42The wind is quite light as well, feeling quite warm in the east. Temperatures higher here
00:47than yesterday, 25 quite widely, maybe up to 27 in the capital, 21, 22 in the east
00:52coast of Scotland, maybe
00:5423 along the Moray Firth. With the thicker cloud in the west it won't be as warm here.
00:59We're looking at highs in the high teens along the west coast with the outbreaks
01:03of rain which could turn a bit heavier for a time over
01:05parts of west Wales. Certainly this evening some heavy bursts of rain likely over the
01:09Highlands
01:10and the Western Isles. That tends to push away to the far north
01:14still around of course Shetland first thing on Thursday.
01:17With the wetter weather coming, a lot of low cloud, mist,
01:21murky conditions to start off with on Thursday and also some
01:25warm and humid air. So it's probably going to be a warmer night tonight
01:29for many with temperatures holding up at 15-16 degrees quite widely
01:34in urban areas. So it's going to be a grey
01:37but fairly warm start to Thursday. Should see some sunshine again across parts of
01:41northeast Scotland.
01:43Generally a decent start here with some sunshine. Sunny spells possible too over
01:47eastern England but
01:48probably clouding over here quite quickly and wet weather is going to affect the south.
01:51Southern counties of England
01:52starting off in the southwest moving to the southeast. Some
01:55heavy bursts of rain mixed up with that eventually spreading up towards East Anglia
01:59by the end of Thursday. For Scotland and Northern Ireland there will be showers coming in
02:03here, one or two heavy ones.
02:05They'll tend to zip through because of the brisk breeze and a cooler feel here as well.
02:09In fact generally temperatures
02:10won't be as high as there won't be as much sunshine around on Thursday
02:15and so temperatures tomorrow only 21-22 degrees but probably still feeling quite
02:19humid
02:19across parts of the south for much of the day. That wet weather
02:23should tend to clear away and then the weather looking a bit more changeable as
02:27we head into the weekend but still plenty of fine
02:29dry and sunny weather about. For more information check out our deep dive
02:33that Aidan recorded yesterday. There's lots on there to get your teeth into particularly
02:38some interesting facts about different temperature scales.
