00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. Saturday morning, beautiful
00:06start for many of us as high pressure finally arrives from the west, bringing more settled
00:10and cloud-free weather for the vast majority. Not everyone, there will be some cloud across
00:15northern Scotland, eastern England also affected by patchy cloud coming in from the North Sea
00:20and continued cool breeze. And after the sunny but chilly start for many of us, the cloud
00:26will tend to build, more especially for parts of Wales into northern and central England
00:31and for northern Scotland. The cloud increasingly thick and low to bring some light outbreaks
00:36of rain by the afternoon. One or two showers coming in from the North Sea, but those are
00:40the exceptions. I think for many, it's going to stay dry and bright. The best of the sunshine
00:44remaining across Northern Ireland, West Wales and the South West. That's where the highest
00:48temperatures will be 13 to 15 Celsius and with light winds feeling very pleasant. Not
00:53so pleasant along the North Sea coast, 10 Celsius with a cool breeze. But with high
00:59pressure in charge, it is largely settled across the UK for once. Having said that,
01:04a weak weather front will dangle its influence into the north and increasingly the east of
01:09Scotland overnight to bring outbreaks of light and persistent drizzly rain. Now, a lower
01:15cloud here as well brings some mist and grottiness to eastern Scotland around the coast, northeast
01:20England as well, and the rain by dawn into the North Midlands. But away from this zone
01:26with clear spells once again, there will be a touch of frost as we begin Sunday, especially
01:30Northern Ireland, parts of South West Wales and the South West of England. So, a bright
01:36start in the West under high pressure, but this weak weather front will bring a stark
01:42contrast in conditions, both compared with the West and compared with what many places
01:47experience during the day today. So, yeah, it's going to be a grey and gloomy start for
01:53northern and eastern Scotland with outbreaks of light rain and drizzle continuing through
01:57the day. That area of light rain pushing through northern England into parts of the Midlands
02:02could reach parts of central southern England for a time during the morning before it edges
02:06into Wales later. And really by the afternoon, it's parts of east Wales through northern
02:11England as well as eastern Scotland where we've got this area of low cloud and outbreaks
02:15of light rain and drizzle. Away from this zone, bright skies remain for western Scotland,
02:20northern Ireland, west Wales, parts of the south west as well as east Anglia and the
02:25south east. A cool breeze here, decent conditions for the London Marathon. 10 or 11 Celsius
02:31in the east and I'd say 10 Celsius where we've got the drizzle and low cloud will feel very
02:36different to the 16 Celsius or 17 in northern Ireland where we've got the light winds and
02:41sunny spells. And we've got similar conditions continuing into the start of next week. High
02:46pressure nearby so nothing particularly unsettled but weak weather fronts will bring areas of
02:51cloud and outbreaks of light to moderate rain at times.
