00:00Hi there. There will be plenty of sunshine this weekend and it will feel warm in that
00:04sunshine but it won't be sunny or indeed dry everywhere all the time. There's still some
00:11areas of cloud, showers and some mistiness to talk about through Friday night and into
00:16Saturday for example. Friday night will be largely clear once any of Friday's showers
00:21disappear but some cloud development will affect eastern areas, low cloud and mist rolling
00:27in from the North Sea and some more organised area of cloud and outbreaks of rain into Kent
00:33and East Sussex by the end of the night. But where we've got the cloud temperatures will
00:38hold up at 12 to 14 Celsius where we do have the clearest bells particularly out towards
00:42the west dipping into the single figures. Plenty of fine weather about as we start this
00:49weekend with higher pressure to the west but this low which has been bringing some heavy
00:53rain to Germany during the last couple of days, well that's going to throw some showers
00:58or longer spells in towards the south east and then southern and south western parts
01:02later on Saturday. So a cloudy start for East Anglia and the south east, some outbreaks
01:07of rain first thing or even some heavy showers for a time. But for many other areas it's
01:12dry, there will be some low cloud hugging the coasts of northern and eastern Scotland,
01:17north east England for example. Much of that will retreat back to the beaches by the afternoon
01:21but where it lingers it's good to stay on the cool side. And for much of the UK it is
01:26a bright afternoon with long spells of sunshine but some showers will form. Just about anywhere
01:33could catch a shower but they're most likely to affect say parts of Highland, Scotland,
01:38Grampians, Trussachs and where they occur here, well they could be quite heavy, perhaps
01:43the odd rumble of thunder, likewise for parts of Wales, the Midlands into northern England.
01:47These will be very isolated however, most places will stay dry. But the most widespread
01:53showery activity will affect south western parts of England by the afternoon. These could
01:58be lingering in some places and combined to give longer spells of rain so some wet weather
02:04in the south west. And where the showers do form, the risk of 50mm or more in a few hours.
02:09This shows 6 hour rainfall totals so the totals through Saturday afternoon effectively. Very
02:13hit and miss as you can see, many areas staying white which means dry on this map but you
02:18can see those showers focused across central parts of Scotland as well. So the key message
02:23there is that it's sunny spells and showers, many places avoiding the showers and staying
02:27dry where it stays sunny it's going to feel warm, temperatures into the low 20s but where
02:32we've got that mistiness in the North Sea and where we've got the shower development
02:36it will be considerably cooler. Later Saturday the showers do linger for a time towards the
02:41south west, even after dark they'll carry on for a few hours but I think after midnight
02:46or so most of those will be gone and most parts of the UK will be dry on Saturday night
02:51and into Sunday. However you can see this area of low cloud blossoming across eastern
02:55parts of the country, once again some mistiness returning from the North Sea. That will keep
02:59temperatures in the double figures where we've got the clear spells further west dipping
03:03to 8 or 9 Celsius. So a lot of dry weather about on Sunday morning, a lot of sunshine
03:09as well particularly towards western parts. A bit more cloud rolls into the north west
03:13of Scotland, we've got that mist and low cloud along the North Sea coast as well lingering
03:17throughout much of the day but inland and especially for central and western parts some
03:22decent sunny spells. Once again there'll be some showers developing, central Scotland
03:26for example one or two here and there elsewhere but again the most likely area for those showers
03:32to form will be across the south and south west and once again they could form into convergence
03:37lines where the winds come together around the south west peninsula for example to give
03:41some longer spells of rain. Where the sun does shine temperatures into the low 20s.
03:46So a fine weekend for many but not for all. Make sure you subscribe to YouTube to stay
03:50across the latest updates and check the Met Office app for a look at where those showers
03:55are developing each day.
