00:00Hi there. Warm, sunny spells for many of us this weekend. Showers for some and some areas
00:07of cloud to talk about as well. Higher pressure to the west, lower pressure to the east. In
00:12between, very few isobars on the map. That means light winds. But this weather front's
00:18just about influencing things first thing in the far southeast. Some areas of cloud
00:22for East Anglia and the southeast and some outbreaks of rain. That rain turning to showers
00:26during the morning. Some heavy downpours possible across East Anglia into London and
00:30the southeast. But later, the focus for showers drifts westwards into southwest England and
00:36south Wales. Otherwise, it brightens up for many. The cloud early on disappearing even
00:42across eastern Scotland, northeast England where we've got some low cloud and mist during
00:46the morning. That tends to retreat back to the beaches as the sun warms things up. And
00:52for much of the country, it is a fine afternoon. This chart, for example, shows the rainfall
00:56accumulations through the six-hour period up to 6pm. And it shows the speckled nature
01:01of the showers. So where we've got white, very little rainfall if any at all. But some
01:07sharp showers showing up here across southern parts of the UK. And as much as 50mm or more
01:13in a few spots where the heavy showers develop. But some uncertainty as is always the case
01:18in terms of where these showers precisely will develop. Some more prolonged rain through
01:24the Channel just picked up there across the Channel Islands and northern parts of France.
01:29That's indicative of a weather front which, with its associated cloud, could hinder shower
01:34development along the south coast of the UK. So some uncertainty in how this will play
01:40out through Saturday afternoon. Suffice to say, many places dry but there will be some
01:44heavy showers about. Likewise for Scotland, just the central part through the Highlands,
01:48Grampians, the Trossachs, just the chance of some showers developing. But away from
01:53the showers, many places seeing some warm sunshine. Temperatures up to 22 or 23C held
01:59back along the North Sea coast by the mistiness that will come and go through the afternoon.
02:04That will tend to return into Saturday night. This area of low cloud blossoming across eastern
02:09Scotland into eastern England spreading inland. The showers towards the southwest keep going
02:14until around midnight or thereabouts and eventually they die away as well. So most places dry
02:20as we start off Sunday. The best of the sunshine early on will be towards the west and under
02:24those clear skies it will be a fresh start to Sunday with temperatures of 8 or 9C, where
02:29we've got the cloud, 12 or 13C. But of course where we've got the cloud, temperatures won't
02:34rise as quickly on Sunday morning so they'll be a bit more limited along that east coast
02:38through the day and it does tend to stay misty. Also a bit more cloud coming into the northwest
02:43of Scotland at times, perhaps some drizzle across the northwest Highlands. Further shower
02:47developments to the north of the central belt there, again hit and miss. But the focus
02:52for showers, some sharp downpours, most likely down towards the south and southwest once
02:57again. Forming where the winds converge so in places there'll be quite a number of showers
03:02developing along the southwest but other areas could well avoid them through the afternoon.
03:08Temperatures similar to Saturday, we're looking at high teens or low 20s, feeling pleasant
03:11in the sunshine but feeling cool along the North Sea coast where it stays misty. Similar
03:16conditions on Monday so classic mix of sunshine and spring showers. We'll keep you updated
03:22right here.
