00:00Hello there, I hope you enjoyed your Saturday. It was a reasonably dry day for many of us,
00:05away from a few pockets of drizzle and showers pushing their way into the far north of Scotland
00:09as this earlier radar shows. A bit of mixed fortunes in terms of sunshine, quite widely
00:14cloudy for some of us but reasonable sunshine for areas of eastern England. It's this mixture
00:18of clearer breaks and cloud that we will retain throughout the evening and overnight as well,
00:23exactly which you see will determine how cold it does get for you. Those that have some
00:27clearer breaks could see pockets of frost developing, some mist and fog patches as well,
00:31but those of us that hold on to the cloud will probably see temperatures hold up just around
00:36one or two degrees Celsius. So not a widespread frost developing but certainly still a very
00:42chilly night for many areas of the UK. We'll retain a reasonable amount of cloud across Wales,
00:47central, southern England into Sunday as well. Again could provide the odd spot of drizzle and
00:53light rain, a few brighter breaks to watch out for during the day. Into the afternoon we'll see
00:57some slightly more prolonged sunshine maybe for northern England and then into northern Ireland
01:01later on as well. For northern Scotland though it's an increasing risk of wintry showers streaming
01:07their way in from the north, falling of snow even to lower levels. Combine that with some very strong
01:13winds across the northeast, severe gales for a time in Shetland, that does bring the risk of
01:18drifting snow. Some quite atrocious conditions around on Sunday so do take care as there could
01:22be some disruption. We'll be feeling very bitter in those strong winds as well. Temperatures across
01:28Scotland not much higher than two, three degrees Celsius. Slightly less cold further towards the
01:34south, temperatures here around six to eight degrees Celsius. But it's this cold air across
01:40northern Scotland that is increasingly going to push its way southwards across the rest of the UK
01:44as we head into the start of the new working week. This cold plunge of arctic air sweeping its way
01:49in from the north providing a very cold start to Monday. That northerly wind though is actually
01:55going to help clear out some of this cloud across Wales and England. So skies will be turning clearer
02:01overnight, reasonably good conditions if you want to head out stargazing. But you will also have to
02:05brave the cold if you're stepping outside. Widely frosty throughout Sunday night into Monday morning
02:11and it does also bring the risk of icy stretches of where those showers are pushing into the north
02:15across parts of Scotland but increasingly so into northern Ireland as well. Particularly
02:21County Derry, County Antrim will start to see those snow showers arriving during the early
02:25hours of Monday morning. So many of us will have to scrape the car windscreens as we head to work
02:31on Monday morning and those snow showers will persist again primarily for northern Scotland,
02:37parts of northern Ireland. A few perhaps filtering their way through for western Wales, southwest
02:41England and some just skirting the far east of Humberside and down into Norfolk as well. Head
02:47further inland though and areas that are sheltered from that northerly breeze will see widespread
02:52sunshine over the course of Monday. But don't let the sunshine fool you, it will still be feeling
02:58very cold with that northerly flow. Temperatures only around one or two degrees Celsius at best
03:04for many of us. If I turn on the feels like temperatures though it's going to be feeling
03:09sub-freezing for the vast majority particularly along that eastern seaboard where we hold on to
03:14some very blustery winds. If you are exposed to that wind it's going to be feeling very bitter
03:20and very raw when you do step outside. With that cold air in place as we start off the week what
03:27are the chances of some further snowfall? Well our eyes for Tuesday are on this little feature that
03:33has a potential to skirt its way across northern Ireland, southern Scotland, parts of northern
03:37England as well. That could bring a mixture of rain sleet and snow over the course of the day so
03:42something that should certainly keep up to date with the forecast on. You may have also heard
03:47about this frontal system wanting to try and push its way in from the south on Wednesday. Increasingly
03:52though models are shifting this further southwards so at the moment the most likely scenario is for
03:58this front to remain in the channel with any snow primarily pushing into parts of France. There's
04:05about a 20-30% chance that we do still see a few flurries just spreading their way across the very
04:10far south of England so again do stay up to date with the forecast. We'll keep you up to date with
04:15the most likely scenario as that evolves over time and any warnings that may need to be issued. You
04:21can find of course all our details across social media and we'll be back here on YouTube again
04:26very soon so make sure you're subscribing. Bye bye.
