11 June - National weather forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hi there, we've got some unseasonably windy weather on the cards for Saturday, this particularly
00:05affecting north-western areas of Scotland where gales are possible. This all due to
00:11low pressure bringing us some tightly packed isobars to this region. The isobars slightly
00:16further apart as you move further south so not quite as windy but still a breezy day
00:22nonetheless. The strong winds in the north will be accompanied by rain and scattered
00:26showers, some of these could be heavy at times. Generally staying drier the further
00:31south east you are with some sunny intervals and it will be feeling warm in that sunshine
00:35as well with highs of 24 degrees. Where we have that sunshine though it is worth noting
00:40that UV levels are high if not very high across some southern areas of England so do make
00:45sure to protect your skin if you are out and about this afternoon. As we move into Saturday
00:51evening and the coming night the winds will ease down slightly as low pressure moves away
00:56but it will still remain pretty breezy across northern areas of Scotland with further spells
01:01of rain and scattered showers through the evening. Drier and clearer conditions across
01:06areas of England and rural areas may dip down into single figures but most towns and cities
01:11will still be holding around double digits. So a largely mild start to Sunday morning
01:17and the winds continuing to ease down, not as windy as we'll see over the course of Saturday
01:23but still a breezy day for Scotland and Northern Ireland with scattered showers making their
01:28way through from the west. But some drier intervals in there particularly for eastern
01:33Scotland and then also across areas of England and Wales which will get off to a pretty fine
01:39day. Again some lengthy sunny intervals allowing temperatures to climb into the low 20s just
01:44not quite as high as we'll see on Saturday. To keep up to date with all of that and also
01:50what is heading our way for the next week make sure you're following us on social media
01:55and we'll see you soon. Bye!
