00:00Storm Kieron is now starting to push its way across the UK bringing heavy rain
00:04and exceptionally strong winds which is why we have two amber wind warnings in
00:09force across southern parts. The low that is Kieron is going to track its way
00:14eastwards across southern parts of the UK and it's on the southern edge of the
00:18low that we're going to see the strongest winds initially in the
00:21southwest but then later on as we go through Thursday affecting southeastern
00:25parts in particular. But looking at the details as we go through the rest of
00:29Wednesday and there's some rain across parts of Scotland perhaps a little bit
00:32of hill snow still but that is all going to clear its way northward so some drier
00:36clearer weather here. Elsewhere then Kieron is going to bring exceptionally
00:41wet and exceptionally windy weather across many parts. We are likely to see
00:45some disruption, some further flooding is possible, there could be some damage to
00:48property and we are likely to see some significant disruption to travel too.
00:53Temperatures in the north under those clear skies could dip quite a bit so a
00:57touch of frost is likely across parts of Northern Ireland and parts of
01:00Scotland too. Elsewhere a milder picture but feeling unpleasant first thing
01:04because of the wind and rain. As we go through the morning then difficulties on
01:08the roads during the morning rush hour because of the heavy rain and the strong
01:12winds especially in the south. Let's look at those two amber warnings then across
01:17the southwest the strongest winds will be during the morning and notice after
01:21initially coming from the southwest the wind direction will change and so they
01:25come from the northwest and that changes where we're going to see places most
01:30exposed to the very strong winds. As we go through the day though the strongest
01:34winds will push their way eastwards into more southeastern parts of England and
01:39here we could see gusts 70 to 80 perhaps even in excess of 85 miles per hour in
01:44the most exposed spots which is why there's no surprise we are going to see
01:48some disruption to travel and the risk of damage to property as well. As we go
01:53through the day then an unsettled picture across the bulk of the UK. Heavy
01:57outbreaks of rain, strong winds for many or in strongest towards the south but we
02:01will see some strong winds pushing further north as well and the heavy rain
02:05does push into eastern parts of Scotland as we go through the afternoon and
02:08fringing into eastern parts of Northern Ireland as well. Further west some places
02:13may stay largely dry and perhaps some decent sunshine for Western Northern
02:17Ireland but for the bulk of the UK it is going to be an unsettled day. With the
02:22unsettled weather and temperatures a little bit below average for the time of
02:26year it is going to be quite a cool feeling day especially in that wind and
02:30rain. Later on as we go through the evening on Thursday the low that is
02:34Ciarán does push out towards the North Sea and it starts to fill a little bit
02:38so it becomes less intense. That being said we are still going to see some
02:42unsettled weather. Heavy outbreaks of rain affecting eastern parts of Scotland
02:46and northeast England could see some further flooding here and some strong
02:50blustery winds here as well. Further west and south starting to turn a bit
02:55calmer. There will be further showers around but I am expecting some clearer
02:59spells to develop and in those clearer spells it is likely to be a little bit
03:03chillier as we go through Thursday night than it is going to be as we go through
03:06this coming night. Not especially cold though. As we look towards Friday and we
03:11are still heavily under the influence of that low pressure that is Ciarán albeit
03:15it will have filled a little bit more so becoming less intense but still heavy
03:19outbreaks of rain for eastern parts particularly the northeast of the UK and
03:23still some blustery winds here. Elsewhere a scattering of showers still could be a
03:27little bit on the heavy side. You couldn't rule out some rumbles of
03:30thunder and there'll be some bright sunny spells in between. Temperatures may
03:34be similar to Thursday but with the strongest winds having eased and there
03:39being more in the way of dry perhaps even bright weather around it should
03:43feel quite a bit milder. As we look towards the weekend there is more
03:47unsettled weather to come so we can expect further rain and some strong
03:50winds at times too but it isn't going to be as impactful as what we can expect
03:55due to Storm Ciarán. Aidan will have more information about that in the 10-day
04:00trend which is available on our YouTube channel otherwise make sure you keep up
04:04to date with the warnings. I'll see you later.
