30 Augusts - National weather forecast presented by Luke Miall.
Transcript
00:00Hello. Wednesday's weather is a mixture of sunshine and showers across the UK. For some
00:04of us those showers will be heavy, for others you won't see any at all. And it's down to
00:08this area of low pressure, it's spilling away in towards the North Sea. A brief ridge of
00:12high pressure then follows in, but we are keeping our eyes on this next system coming
00:16in for Thursday. More on that in just a moment. But back to the here and now through the rest
00:21of Wednesday afternoon, we've got a mixture of sunshine and showers as I say. Some heavy
00:25ones likely for Yorkshire, East Anglia, South East England, a peppering of showers across
00:29Scotland as well. But for many of us it is a dry day. Cloud coming and going, there will
00:33be some decent spells of sunshine and temperatures faring not too bad, highs of 20 or 21 degrees
00:39Celsius. Most of the showers then fade as we head through this evening. The cloud melts
00:44away and those skies clear. So for the time of year for late August it is going to be
00:48quite chilly, particularly across northern and eastern areas where we hang on to those
00:52clear skies. But you'll notice out towards the west, keep an eye on this system pushing
00:56its way in. This is going to bring some wetter weather through Thursday, knocking on the
01:00doors by dawn for Pembrokeshire, parts of Cornwall, just edging into Northern Ireland
01:04as well. But temperatures recovering out towards the west, staying in double figures then as
01:09we start Thursday morning. So a bit of a westy split through the morning. Temperatures will
01:14start the day pretty cold across our more rural spots across the east, twos and threes
01:19in some places, but as I say, double figures out towards the west. Now through the morning
01:25that rain is going to spill its way into Wales, south west England, some heavy rain
01:28to contend with first thing. Spray on the roads, do take care if you are planning on
01:32travelling. Edges into the Midlands, Northern Ireland and the south east of England, petering
01:37out a little bit as it does so. But ahead of it and to the north it stays fine through
01:41much of Thursday. Scotland for example having a lovely day as well as north east England
01:45and the far eastern coast. Temperatures in the sunshine 21 or so degrees Celsius. But
01:51under this cloud of rain it's going to feel quite chilly, just 16 or so degrees, which
01:56is pretty low for this stage of the year. A few heavy showers then follow on into the
02:01evening for the south west. One or two of these could have a rumble of thunder. Some
02:05of those getting into Northern Ireland as well. But I think for most places some brightness
02:09filtering its way in before that sun sets. And then as we head in towards Friday, we
02:15continue with a bit of a mixed bag of weather. And that's because of this area of low pressure.
02:19It's centred across the UK on Friday but it eases away and then as we head into the
02:24weekend an area of high pressure settling its way in. So the weather is set to turn
02:29more settled towards the weekend. For more information on that though you can follow
02:34us online. See you soon. Bye bye.
