00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:05While the weekend so far has brought outbreaks of rain and showers, some sunny spells too.
00:11But let's have a look at this evening's weather.
00:14Well, rain that was earlier across southwest England and southern coasts has started to
00:18make its way northwards, bringing heavy rain to southern parts of Wales as well as southeast
00:24England.
00:25We're getting some pretty strong gusts here as well, gusts of around 45 to 55 miles per
00:31hour on exposed coasts.
00:33And then as we go through the rest of this evening, that band is going to continue to
00:37make its way northwards into northern Ireland, northern England, and later on into parts
00:42of Scotland, bringing some pretty heavy bursts of rain and some strong gusts as well, especially
00:47around coasts where we could see local gales.
00:51Within this though, there's further showers moving in, and we could even hear the odd
00:55rumble of thunder within these tonight.
00:58Clear spells too, but we aren't going to see temperatures dropping too low tonight, expecting
01:03lows of around eight to nine in towns and cities.
01:08So pretty dull and gloomy starts of the day across much of northern England and Scotland
01:13with outbreaks of rain becoming fairly persistent across eastern Scotland, heavy as well across
01:19the southeast for much of the day tomorrow.
01:23Elsewhere, it's another day of sunshine and showers.
01:26These could be heavy across western and southern coasts and remaining pretty blustery around
01:32coastal areas, so do bear that in mind if you're planning to go out and about on Sunday.
01:37The central slice of the UK will see the driest and brightest weather, and it'll feel pretty
01:42pleasant in any of those sunny spells, away from the stronger gusts across northern and
01:46southern coasts.
01:48So as we go into Sunday evening, that rain is going to continue across Scotland, so another
01:53cloudy wet night to come here.
01:55Elsewhere, some clearer skies, especially across eastern areas, but cloudier with further
02:01showers across the south and west.
02:04A slightly cooler night to come Sunday night as we go into the start of the new working
02:09week, but still not expecting any frost around.
02:14Now as we go into the start of Monday, it's another day of sunshine and showers really
02:19for many.
02:20That rain across Scotland still continuing, but becoming more confined to eastern areas
02:26and occasionally still the odd heavy burst there, but drier and brighter across northern
02:31and western parts of Scotland, and some southern and eastern parts of England as well will
02:36get a bit of a respite from some of those showers as we go through Monday.
02:41But notice that those winds are now coming from a northerly direction across Scotland,
02:45so starting to see some cooler air feeding in here for a time, still clinging on to something
02:51a little bit warmer across the south with highs of 14 to 15.
02:56But what does the outlook have in store as we go towards the end of October and the start
03:01of November?
03:02Well, the unsettled theme in the weather isn't going anywhere anytime soon, as low pressure
03:07remains dominant, further spells of rain heavy at times and often windy too as we go
03:14throughout the rest of the week.
