00:00Good morning, welcome to your latest update. This weekend is looking very mild, particularly
00:06overnight and there will be quite a lot of dry weather across many central and southern
00:10areas and that's because we've got high pressure building in from the south that will allow
00:14that dry weather to really settle in for the next few days or so. Notice though we've still
00:18got weather fronts skirting along to the north and that will bring some rain at times. But
00:23to the south of those weather fronts we've got exceptionally mild air building in from
00:27the tropics to bring some very mild nights. However, it's still a bit of a chillier start
00:32out there this morning, particularly across many central and southern areas and we could
00:36see some mist and fog first thing, but that will likely clear over the next few hours.
00:41And then much of the day across central and eastern areas will be dry and bright, not
00:45much brighter day than yesterday and the day before in fact, so some good sunshine to come
00:50eventually here. Elsewhere though, further west cloud will thicken through the day and
00:55we will see some outbreaks of drizzly rain as those frontal systems come ever closer.
01:00The most persistent rain will be across northern areas of Scotland where it will stay quite
01:05windy through much of the day, particularly across coastal areas as well as over the high
01:10ground. But that strength of that breeze and the warmth of the air will allow temperatures
01:14to build this afternoon, highs of 11 or 12 degrees for many western areas. A little bit
01:20cooler though in the east where we did get off to a bit of a chillier start this morning.
01:25Through the evening then tonight, we'll see dry weather persist for many central and eastern
01:29areas elsewhere, though it will stay cloudy with the risk of some drizzly rain through
01:33much of the night. But again, the most persistent rain will continue across northern Scotland
01:38where the winds strengthen even more. We'll see the stronger winds spread slightly further
01:43south into further southern areas of Scotland and northern England as well. So a gusty night
01:48for these areas, but that won't allow temperatures to fall away at all really. In fact, tonight
01:53is looking a good few degrees warmer than last night. Many areas of the UK will be about
01:59four degrees warmer than last night, but it's the far north of Scotland where temperatures
02:03could not get much lower than around 11 degrees. So it could be an exceptionally warm night
02:09for December here. A mild start to the weekend then and for many southern and central areas,
02:15it'll be a dry and fine day through Saturday. I think a drier day on Saturday than Sunday
02:20here. There'll be some sunny spells coming through now and then, particularly in the
02:24afternoon across the far south coast. The further north and west you are though, the
02:28cloudier it will be and the greater your risk there is of seeing some drizzly rain, particularly
02:33over any hills and western facing and coastal areas across Wales and northern areas of England
02:39as well as Northern Ireland. But again, it's the far north west of Scotland where that
02:44heavy rain will persist and we'll see the most persistent rain I think through Saturday
02:48night into Sunday morning. And as a result, we do have a weather warning in force for
02:52these areas. And you can find more details on that by subscribing to our YouTube channel
02:57and keeping up to date with our app. I'll see you later.
