00:00Hi there. Through the last few days we've seen increasingly dry and increasingly bright
00:06weather across the UK but we are also seeing the humidity climb. That will be noticeable
00:11overnight and we'll see also an increase in the breeze with more and more cloud coming
00:17along. In the east some of that cloud will bring a few drizzly showers. Towards the west
00:22there'll be some heavier showers arriving across Wales, Northern Ireland and south and
00:27west England by the end of the night. But with a lot of cloud cover, with the breeze
00:30with the increased humidity, temperatures largely staying in the mid-teens and in some
00:35places 17 or 18 Celsius through the night. And the wind will be quite notable through
00:40the night as well, particularly for the north-west of Wales where that wind during Friday will
00:45gust around 50 mph or so could cause impacts to travel and to tourism for example. All
00:52of this is happening ahead of areas of low pressure approaching from the west, tightening
00:56up the ice bars and bringing increased humidity and increased instability to our atmosphere.
01:02And as a result ahead of the main band of rain that we're expecting later Friday we've
01:06got an area of humidity, instability and showers or thunderstorms developing across many parts
01:13of the UK but it's across the Midlands into southern and southeastern England where these
01:18intense downpours could cause some impacts during Friday morning with the risk also of
01:23some frequent lightning. Nevertheless into the afternoon as that pushes into the north
01:26and the east of England it tends to diminish and so drier conditions emerge but a lot of
01:32cloud cover across the UK, it stays breezy and so despite the increased humidity with
01:37the breeze and the cloud it's not going to be particularly hot, temperatures of 22 or
01:4223 Celsius. But where we do get some sunshine coming through it could be a touch higher
01:47than that. High teens further north as well, the best of any brightness, north-west Scotland
01:51also towards the south-west, that is before this comes in and this area of rain is associated
01:57with a developing area of low pressure, still a question mark about how much this low will
02:01deepen, but it is likely to bring some very lively weather through Friday night. Initially
02:07south-western areas then into Wales, central and eastern England, northern Ireland and
02:11by around midnight the risk across east Anglia and the south-east in particular of some very
02:16lively thunderstorms, frequent lightning, large hail, that sort of thing. The one saving
02:21grace is it comes through during the early hours of Saturday so it shouldn't cause too
02:25many impacts but of course significant thunderstorms are a big risk. Now elsewhere we've got the
02:33wet weather pushing into eastern and central Scotland, northern Ireland by dawn on Saturday,
02:38stays windy across the country, risk of coastal gales for western parts and with the humidity
02:43it's going to be a muggy night. So either way perhaps a tricky night for sleeping whether
02:47it's to do with the noisy weather outside or that stickiness in the atmosphere. Across
02:54northern Scotland it's a dry start to Saturday before the persistent rain arrives and eastern
02:59Scotland in particular prone to some persistent heavy rain through the day. Further bouts
03:02of rain push into northern Ireland, southern Scotland, north-west England, but across the
03:06rest of England and Wales actually brighter conditions by Saturday afternoon, a mix of
03:11sunny spells and showers, most of the showers towards the west, better chance of largely
03:15dry weather in the south-east and actually here 24, 25 Celsius or so, perhaps 26 degrees,
03:22still some warmth and humidity in the atmosphere. But it's going to be a blustery day nevertheless
03:26with the wind coming from the south-west, risk of gales for some exposed northern and
03:30north-eastern parts of Scotland and certainly very gusty in places. Then into Sunday all
03:37of that moves through and it's sunny spells and showers for much of the country, again
03:40driest towards the south-east and some warmth to remain here, but increasingly warm weather
03:47across the south into next week whilst it stays changeable in the north.
