00:00Dryer, sunnier, warmer weather is on the way for the weekend.
00:05But the charts initially don't look too promising.
00:07We've got low pressure sitting across the UK and another one
00:10up towards the northwest.
00:11Quite an intense one, this.
00:13It's heading its way up towards Greenland.
00:14And actually, that one is allowing high pressure
00:18to topple in further south and oust
00:21the low that's sitting across us at the moment.
00:23And this high will bring many of us a fine weekend
00:26and probably into the early part of next week as well.
00:29But we're not there just yet.
00:31We still have this low pressure sitting across us,
00:33bringing outbreaks of rain during Thursday
00:36and through the night.
00:37That'll continue to track into parts of northern England
00:40and southern Scotland.
00:41As it bumps up against the high building in,
00:43the weather front kind of grinds to a halt and fizzles out.
00:45But it will bring damp and drizzly conditions
00:48across parts of northern England first thing on Friday morning.
00:51Further south, potential for one or two heavy showers
00:54just to affect the far southeast of England.
00:56Quite mild here.
00:58Quite warm air, temperatures holding up in the teens.
01:01But quite a contrast across northern Scotland,
01:03where again on Friday morning, temperatures
01:05well down into single figures.
01:07So a chilly start, but we'll see some fine weather again
01:09across northern Scotland.
01:10Could be some morning mist and fog.
01:12That should clear.
01:13Another area where it's going to be a murky old start,
01:15northern England, parts of the Midlands, East Anglia.
01:18Quite a drab start here, misty, murky,
01:20some drizzly rain still over northern England.
01:22That could persist for much of the day
01:24through parts of northeast England.
01:26To the south, something a bit brighter.
01:27We'll see some sunny spells, but we'll still
01:30have the potential for some scattered,
01:32but heavy showers during the afternoon.
01:34Parts of Wales, the Midlands, and some
01:36for southern England too.
01:37The odd shower for northern Ireland.
01:39Generally here, just dry and cloudy.
01:40With some sunny spells in northern Scotland
01:42after that chilly start, temperatures back up
01:44to 20 Celsius by the afternoon.
01:46So quite a diurnal range, as we say.
01:49Further south, it won't be a chilly start
01:51by the afternoon, feeling quite warm and humid, I suspect,
01:54in the sunny spells, 22, 23 degrees.
01:56And then we've got this cloudier zone,
01:58where it will be quite a cool day, a very different feel.
02:00Across the Pennines, for example,
02:02temperatures only 15 or 16 degrees here,
02:04with that rain and drizzle on and off for much of the day.
02:06That'll linger into the evening.
02:08The showers further south should fade through the evening.
02:12And many places will become dry and clear once more.
02:16And that's how we go into the weekend,
02:18that high pressure starting to build.
02:19Could be quite misty and murky in some spots
02:21again on Saturday morning.
02:23But any mist and fog should tend to lift and clear.
02:26Still one or two scattered showers,
02:28but most will stay dry on Saturday,
02:30and certainly by the afternoon, some decent spars of sunshine.
02:33Clouding over in the far northwest,
02:35a bit breezy here, and any sunshine
02:36turning fairly hazy as a weather front approaches.
02:39And as a result, it'll be coolish here.
02:41Temperatures, though, still in the high teens.
02:43Elsewhere, more widely over 20 Celsius.
02:45And across the south, 23, 24, possibly 25 degrees Celsius.
02:49Likely to be warmer still on Sunday.
