Transcript
00:00The humidity is rising this weekend. The heat affecting eastern parts of the UK
00:06before the thundery breakdown and then the much fresher air from the west.
00:11We've already seen some lively showers this afternoon and across Scotland and
00:15Northern Ireland overnight the cloud clears with many parts of the UK seeing
00:18a fine night but an increasingly warm night. We've got this southerly breeze
00:22bringing higher humidity from the near continent and also by the end of the
00:26night an area of cloud into the southwest with some showers here but a
00:31muggy night wherever you are 18 or 19 Celsius in the south mid-teens further
00:34north uncomfortable for sleeping for many places. We've got low pressure
00:39sitting to the west as we start off the weekend that's the reason we're bringing
00:43this humid air up from the south a plume of especially high humidities ahead of a
00:48cold front which is sweeping in later in the day and that cold front bringing the
00:52areas of cloud and showers into southwest England Wales first thing as
00:56those showers move into central parts of the UK and interact with the hotter air
01:00ahead well we're likely to see some thunderstorms intense bursts of rain 50
01:05millimetres in two hours or so frequent lightning and large hail all a
01:09possibility but not a guarantee these will be hit and miss thunderstorms
01:13where they do occur some serious impacts may well result that's why a yellow
01:18thunderstorm warning has been issued ahead of the storms there's the
01:23potential for temperatures to get into the low 30s for East Anglia depending on
01:27how much the cloud advances from the West and how quickly that happens but
01:31for Northern Ireland Wales in the southwest after some early showers
01:34actually fresher conditions arrive here albeit with sunny spells and a largely
01:38fine afternoon with temperatures back into the low 20s a breezy day for many
01:42actually especially towards the northeast of Scotland although mostly
01:46fine weather here until the end of Saturday that's when the thunderstorms
01:50and outbreaks of rain push into northeast Scotland clearing away from
01:53England and Wales before further showers arrive into the early hours of Tuesday
01:58in some western areas but it's another fairly muggy night temperatures in the
02:03mid-teens perhaps not quite as warm as Friday night however and Sunday itself
02:08starts off largely fine especially crossing in the Wales some sunny spells
02:11first thing there's always the chance that we'll see some further thundery
02:14downpours or some longer spells of rain pushing up from the continent to affect
02:18southeastern parts and they'll also be hit and miss showers and thunderstorms
02:21affecting Northern Ireland Wales in the southwest with the most intense burst
02:24there for Northern Ireland where there is a yellow thunderstorm warning
02:28otherwise away from any showers there will be some sunny spells and it'll
02:32certainly be a cooler afternoon compared with Saturday with temperatures back
02:36towards average for the time of year or slightly above in a few spots
02:40particularly towards the east then into the start of next week where we're going
02:44to see a very mixed picture further sunny spells and showers even some
02:49thunderstorms in places those temperatures cooling off
