00:00Hello there. Well, we've seen quite a mix of weather over the last few days, both sides
00:03of autumn, starting off the week really quite warm for the time of year. Currently, it's
00:07quite chilly out there. Over the next few days, well, we're going to see something of
00:11a roll reversal compared to that. So we start off fairly cool and showery for many parts
00:15of the country, but going beyond there into the weekend, yes, there will be some rain
00:18around, but for most of us, those temperatures will be creeping back up again.
00:22Now, looking at the bigger picture out there at the moment, you can see the UK sat under
00:27this pool of cool air, as noted by the blues and greens, winds coming down from the northwest,
00:32encouraging it to feel quite chilly. So for the end of the week, it will continue to feel
00:36on the chilly side for most places, but waiting in the wings, something a bit milder into
00:40the weekend. For Thursday evening, though, a few showers
00:43continuing across parts of western and northern Scotland, a bit of snow up over the mountains
00:47and late in the night, some particularly chilly air coming into Orkney and Shetland, which
00:50means the showers could be wintry to quite low levels here. Elsewhere, though, we've
00:54got some clear spells for parts of south-east Scotland, north-east England, and more generally
00:58speaking, across the southern half of England and Wales. And here, combined with the lighter
01:02winds, is where we'll see the lowest temperatures to take us into Friday mornings. Perhaps two
01:06or three degrees in rural areas, certainly cold enough for a nip of frost, but for most
01:09of us, the breeze is just strong enough to keep the air a bit mixed up, which means there
01:13shouldn't be too much frost first thing on Friday.
01:16But where we've got the highest temperatures is probably where we'll start off fairly cloudy,
01:20with a fair number of showers working their way down that brisk north-westerly wind.
01:24More showers, I think, compared to what we'll see on Thursday, particularly for parts of
01:27north-west England, the Midlands into Wales. Conversely, though, I think for central and
01:31northern Scotland, I think we'll see a brighter afternoon compared to Thursday, with lighter
01:35winds, perhaps not feeling quite so chilly here, though still temperatures in single
01:38figures. Elsewhere, though, across the UK, there'll be some showers, yes, but some sunny
01:42spells as well, and temperatures just creeping up a little bit on what we saw on Thursday.
01:47So a few showers around to close out the working week. As we move into the weekend, while this
01:52weather front and the warmer air tied in with it will slowly start to make inroads
01:56from the west. So we'll gradually see those temperatures making something of a recovery
02:01as we go around to the weekend, with the winds coming back in from the south or south-west.
02:06Which means that for Saturday, well, we'll start off dry, quite chilly first thing across
02:10eastern areas, perhaps a touch of frost here. Here's where we'll see the best of the sunshine,
02:14though lasting longest further to the east, whereas further west, a general increase of
02:17cloud from the south-west, with some outbreaks of rain for northern Ireland, particularly
02:21also for western Scotland. We'll be turning very wet here later in the day, and the breeze
02:25coming in from the south-west, and that will help lift those temperatures. So where we
02:28struggled to get into double figures across northern Scotland, we'll be back up to 12
02:32or 13 come Saturday afternoon. Elsewhere, somewhere between about 13 and 15. So a bit
02:37of a topsy-turvy mix of weather for the next couple of days. Eventually it's turning a
02:40bit milder, and of course you can keep up to date with the weather for where you are
02:43by checking out the Met Office online or across our social media channels. Take care.
